Chipping Campden is one of the loveliest small towns in the Cotswolds with a picturesque high street and some of the most photographed houses in all of the Cotswolds.

Surrounded by all the natural beauty, fields and paths for walking, it is still centrally located for access to Stratford-upon-Avon to the north and the rest of the Cotswolds to the south.

Chipping Campden used to be a market town, as the name suggests (“Chipping” meaning “market”), and still very much is. Both in the traditional sense of the word with many markets being held in the centre of the town in the old Market Hall throughout the year, but also in the more modern sense with it being a great and diverse shopping town.

Chipping Campden was one of the most important of the medieval wool towns in the Cotswolds, in fact it was famous throughout Europe for quality of wool and wares. This legacy of fame and prosperity is what has given the town it's character, all built in the classic Cotswold stone, including the market hall in the centre of town. The High Street curves in a shallow arc lined with a succession of ancient houses, each with their own distinctive embellishments.

Chipping Campden's church, at the north end of the town, is perhaps the finest 'wool' church in the Cotswolds, with a magnificent 120ft (36 metre) tower and a very spacious interior. The church is famed for having one of the oldest alter tapestries (pre-reformation) and largest brasses in England.

For a town of Chipping Campden's modest size (you can walk from one end of the High Street to the other in just 5 minutes), it is home to a large number of fabulous eateries. From cafes and tea houses to dining pubs and restaurants, you will not run out of new places to try out any time soon in Chipping Campden.
