“The cottage itself is really beautiful, however it did have a severe ladybird infestation in one room meaning we were consistently trying to sweep up thousands of ladybirds.”

2 parking spaces for 8 guests is simply not enough, the alternative parking was a headache for us as it’s not walkable. The list of tasks that need to be completed on checkout is also extensive to be honest, it’s not what I have experienced before having stayed with Sykes, putting everything in laundry bags etc is not a holiday, for a 5 star rated property I don’t agree with doing so many tasks, stripping beds etc, the shower was also so hot it burned 2 guests.

Thankyou for your review.. There has been an influx of ladybirds, as reported on the news this month in the countryside, not just at Hillview Cottage! There were four or five ladybirds in the property before you arrived, which we put out and none since you’ve left, there isn’t really much we can do about ladybirds! Perhaps, you shldnt have booked a break in the country! Parking, it clearly states on the listing that there are two parking spaces at the cottage, again, perhaps you shldnt have booked the cottage if you didn’t feel it would meet your needs! The showers are set at the correct temperature when you arrive at the cottage, your fellow guests had turned the main bathroom shower to the highest possible temperature on my return to the cottage, perhaps that is why they found the shower TOO hot! The cottage is a holiday let and not a hotel, we ask that you strip your beds and take your rubbish out that’s all! This is what we ourselves have done, when we have stayed at holiday cottages and in the eight years of letting through Sykes Cottages you are the only guests who have ever objected to doing this! Perhaps when you are booking a stay in the future, you should read the details of the listing more thoroughly, to make sure that the cottage is suitable for your stay! Have a great day!
