Thomas “Well, what a last minute find!”
We’d never been to Shipston-on-Stour before and took a chance on 4, The Old Council House. Our main worry was that due to its close proximity to the centre of Shipston, it would be a noisy stay, and instead we were aiming for something more remote and peaceful. We’d never been to Shipston-on-Stour before and took a chance on 4, The Old Council House. Our main worry was that due to its close proximity to the centre of Shipston, it would be a noisy stay, and instead we were aiming for something more remote and peaceful. We are so glad we took a chance, as the property was lovely, and surprisingly super quiet. Looking at the thickness of the walls, this obviously explains why it must be so quiet. In fact, the courtyard (which is a sun trap from midday in the summer) was also equally quiet. Inside the house, there was plenty of space for the 3 of us. We especially loved the lounge which the big shabby chic style sofas, and the beds were super comfy too. We are very familiar with the Cotswolds but Shipston-on-Stour was a delight. Some lovely shops, including a fabulous deli. We enjoyed a hearty lunch at the Horseshoe and a lovely Sunday roast at the George hotel. Thank you for a very relaxing stay. We’re already taking about a future visit!
