“We enjoyed our stay at Hazel Manor Wing which is situated in a delightful rural setting.”

The kitchen is large with everything you need, except no dishwasher tablets! There is a large dining table which when we arrived was completely set for dinner. The lounge has 2 large Chesterfield Lounges that have seen better days, stitching coming apart & the bases have lost their support. There are two bedrooms, the main with a large Kingsize bed, which has also seen better days, we both ended up with sore backs so transferred to the second bedroom which was extremely comfortable. Both bedrooms had updated bathrooms, both fabulous with the exception a tray needs to be added to the shower in Main bathroom to hold Soap, Shampoo etc as it’s quite slippery to try & pick them up from the floor (actually a health & safety hazard) especially with someone who has mobility issues. The whole place needs to be silicone sealed to keep out the crawling bugs & small spiders killed quite a few In all our years of coming to the UK & hiring cottages in different parts of the country (over 30years) this is the first time we have been asked to strip our beds etc. Is this a new thing? The cottage is quite isolated but we were able to drive to surrounding towns, Had a great Sunday Roast at The Butchers Arms & a fabulous meal just up the road at Fostons Ash Inn can highly recommend both of these. This property was quite difficult to find & we did have a satnav, also had to be very careful when exiting the property as it’s hard to see both ways for traffic especially coming over the hill. We wish the owners all the best & for a small amount of upgrade it could be a 5 Star property Jack & Judith Ware South Australia

The property

This a proper Cotswolds gem!

Hazel Manor Wing, as the name suggests, is the detached and private wing of a rather grand Cotswolds manor home.

As you drive down a sweeping treelined drive, you arrive and immediately feel 'this is the life'...

From the outside this old building is the classic listed Cotswolds house, rambling roses and a typical stone structure step inside and a very warm and bright home greets you.

The large, vaulted living area is impressive, with a large open fire surrounded by similarly large sofas and coffee table - the perfect space to relax.

The sparkling kitchen is ultra modern and fully equipped and the huge dining table is a perfect for a feast as it is to spread the newspaper out!

There are two bedrooms each with a stunning bathroom ideal for privacy and two couples.

Outside is an enclosed garden area, ideal for your pooch and beyond are some incredible walks into 'proper' Cotswolds countryside.

Take a walk along the lane to the nearest pub about a mile away, or jump in the car to Roman Cirencester, Tetbury or the spa town of Cheltenham all of which are about 20 mins drive away.

As a family, as a couple or as a pair of couples this is a great place to explore (and relax) the Cotswolds. Please note this property can not accommodate Saturday or Sunday changeovers

About the location

PAINSWICK

Stroud 4 miles; Gloucester 7 miles; Cheltenham 10 miles.

Painswick, located only 10 miles from Cheltenham, is a town and civil parish in Gloucestershire. The town originated from the wool trade, but is now best known for its parish church’s yew trees and the local Rococo Garden. The village is mainly constructed of locally quarried Cotswold Stone. It stands on a hill in the Stroud district which overlooks one of the Five Valleys and is halfway along the Cotswolds Way National Trail. It is home to a cricket and rugby team and has a popular golf course on the outskirts of the town. There is a local pub The Royal Oak which offer real ales, real fires and a courtyard. Opposite the pub is a well-stocked village shop. A twenty minute walk from the village is the Painswick Beacon which affords vast views across Gloucester to the River Severn and the Malvern Hills. The Painswick Centre hosts many events and exhibitions and is home to the ACP Gallery. Painswick is 4 miles north of Stroud and 2 miles northwest of Slad – home of Laurie Lee, author of “Cider with Rosie”.
