“We were a party of 9 adults, 1 baby and 2 dogs and the accommodation at White Haywood Barn worked really well for us.”

The owners provided a cot and high chair on request. There are 5 bedrooms, 5 bath/shower rooms and 4 toilets. 3 of the bedrooms are large, spacious rooms with en suites and 2 are much smaller containing single beds and with a shared toilet. The living space is brilliant with two long tables to eat at and plenty of comfy seating. What was really nice was being able to put the baby to bed and sit around together in the evenings just enjoying being together. The kitchen is really well equipped with ...

The living space is brilliant with two long tables to eat at and plenty of comfy seating. What was really nice was being able to put the baby to bed and sit around together in the evenings just enjoying being together. The kitchen is really well equipped with everything we needed, loads of crockery, glasses and cutlery. They provided dishwasher tabs and washing up liquid and had left some milk in the fridge for our arrival. I arranged a food delivery for the first night which also worked so well for us. We met the housekeeper, Sheila, on our arrival and she was really friendly and helpful, making sure we settled in and I had e mail contact with the owner whilst we were there too. The hot tub got some use and it was great to have some outdoor furniture since the weather was lovely. Although we didn’t use them there are a couple of pubs in the nearby villages and those we met who lived nearby were very friendly, we were invited to some local events happening whilst we were there. There are plenty of walks to do in the area so you wouldn’t need to go far to find things to do, but actually just enjoying the barn itself was a pleasure. The farm is tucked away from the roads and so quiet. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place and would use it again if I return to the area.

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback. We are delighted that you and your family had a wonderful time, that our housekeeper, Sheila, looked after you so well and the locals were welcoming too. The Golden Valley is a very special area. We really hope we will see you again. Thank you Andrea. Property Owner

About the location

CRASWALL

Hay on Wye 9 miles, Hereford 17.7 miles; Brecon 22.9 miles

Craswall lies on the fringes of the Brecon Beacons National Park, bordering Wales in the foothills of the Black Mountains. This quiet village offers the ideal location for exploring all that Herefordshire has to offer. Nearby, is the historical landmark 'Arthur's Stone', a Neolithic burial chamber set in the hills above the Golden Valley. This tomb is over 5,000 years old with links to King Arthur since pre-13th century, with a gruesome legend behind it. Hay-on-Wye is renowned for its world-famous Hay Festival of Literature, a popular destination for book-lovers, housing many book shops, antique shops, cafes and restaurants. Attractions nearby include The Three Castles Walk, Eastnor Castle, the Offa's Dyke Path, and the Mortimer Trail. Let us not forget the historic city of Hereford, with its medieval bridge over the River Wye, offering an eclectic mix of architecture from almost every British era. This town is famous for producing cider and is also home to the Mappa Mundi, which is located in the magnificent cathedral alongside the famous Chained Library, a collection of over 1500 rare books. This 17th-century library is the largest to survive with all of its chains, rods and locks still in tact, a fascinating treasure in Britain's history. Discover the delights of the neighbouring regions of Shropshire, Worcestershire and The Cotswolds. There is plenty to see and do in the wider area, making this the perfect base for your next holiday in England.

"We love dogs. We have a St Bernard, a Newfoundland, a Labrador Retriever and an English Springer Spaniel. We have learned the importance of responsible dog management when in holiday accommodation. These are our house rules:

Pets are limited to 2 per dwelling, unless by arrangement, and there is a charge of £50 per dog per holiday which goes towards the additional wear & tear and cleaning costs that we are charged when our guests bring dogs.
Owners are liable to pay for any damage caused by their pets. Any damage will be deducted from the Good Housekeeping Bond.
Dogs are not allowed in bedrooms, upstairs or downstairs, and should be kept off all soft furnishings, such as sofas and chairs and carpets (even with covers applied). Guests should bring their own bedding and blankets for their dog. If there is sign of a dog having been on the soft furnishings, there will be an additional sofa/chair/bed steam cleaning charge of a minimum of £250 to ensure that our home is pest-free.
Dogs should be fully house-trained and not defecate indoors, scratch/damage furniture/buildings or bark in a manner that disrupts the quietness of the neighbouring properties. All dog faeces should be picked up and disposed of and not left on the ground outside the property. Additional charges will apply if dog poo is not cleared outside in the grounds.
The property is a working sheep farm. Dogs and sheep do not mix. For the sake of our local farmers and their sheep, please keep your dog(s) on a lead when outside.
Any complaints about dogs barking or dogs causing problems must be dealt with promptly by the owner. The owners/the housekeeper or Sykes reserve the right to ask any dog to be removed if problems occur.
Bookings which have been agreed are accepted on the basis that you have/will comply with the house rules above. Guests must confirm in advance they will agree to the conditions for a dog being allowed to stay."
