The property

West Lodge is an historic building, dating back to the early 1800's.

The detached property is one of a pair of gate lodges which stand at the entrance to the West Park Estate (see also East Lodge ref. 988986).

West Lodge has been completely refurbished and imaginatively extended to provide unusual and highly desirable holiday accommodation, graded 4 stars and given a Gold Award by Visit England.

Inside, the property is stylishly furnished and all the accommodation is on ground floor level, with bright and attractive octagonal shaped rooms.

A really unique and special place to stay. The Lodges at West Park are situated at one end of the picturesque ancient village of Rockbourne.

A walk through the village takes you past many thatched brick and timber cottages alongside the bourne (stream).

The Rose and Thistle pub is at the other end, a stroll back could include a visit to the 11th/12th century church of Saint Andrew with its flint structure and tiled roof.

The famous Rockbourne Roman Villa is a short walk away from the lodges.

About the location

FORDINGBRIDGE

Salisbury 11 miles; Bournemouth 18 miles.

Fordingbridge is a traditional Hampshire town on the banks of the River Avon, and offers a good mix of shops, pubs and restaurants, a small museum of local history and a display of original work by the artist Augustus John, who lived here for many years. The medieval Great Bridge, with seven graceful arches, is a major feature of the town. The immediate area is a wonderful place for visitors, with its beautiful scenery, nature havens, cycleways and welcoming people. Fordingbridge is conveniently situated for the magnificent cathedral city of Salisbury to the north, and the super seaside resort of Bournemouth to the south. The stunning New Forest National Park is only 1.5 miles from the town, where you can explore thousands of acres of moor, heath and woodland frequented by wild ponies, and dotted with quaint villages and country pubs. Within a short drive is the magnificent Elizabethan manor house at Breamore, as well as the New Forest Water Park, and a trip to Beaulieu, home of the National Motor Museum is not to be missed. This is a great location for exploring this picturesque and interesting area.

Note: Homemade meals, breakfast hamper and delivery of local produce by arrangement with the owner.
Note: Suitable for adults and teenage children but babies welcome.
Note: Pet charges apply.
Note: This property only accepts minimum 3 night stays.
