East Lodge

This is the third time we have stayed at East Lodge.

The property owner has thought of everything to make each holiday special. The Lodge is spotlessly clean and has everything needed, even down to dog tags showing the address of the accommodation for our pets to wear. There are flowers, scones, bread, milk and juice all provided on arrival which is a thoughtful gesture. Cannot recommend this place enough

Lovely little cottage.

Flowers and fresh scones on arrival which was appreciated by us. Clean and adequately furnished. Loved that we had a fire going every night. Would highly recommend and will probably be going back!

considering dogs are welcome I did find the fact there was no enclosed safe garden and so close to a busy road, a big drawback.

Having to keep a dog on a lead at all times would prevent me from returning.

Stayed here before and enjoyed it so much decided to return over New Year.

Once again impressed with property and facilities. Our thanks to Laura for her help and friendliness. Great area to explore with our dog with Cranborne Chase on one side and New Forest on the other and Rockbourne in the middle.

A cosy and very well equipped cottage with plenty of character.

The only downside was the bed. It had strange ridge in the middle, and felt lumpy which was not helped by the very prominent wires of the electric blanket which was completely unnecessary as the lodge was very warm. New mattress definitely called for!

The property was excellent, spotless and warm.

The dog absolutely loved the underfloor heating, and the location was perfect. We also really appreciated the dog basket; it was so muddy outside that it came in very handy.

From the homemade cream tea to the hamper of accessories for the dogs. We will definitely be going back to this wonderful little retreat.

We stayed at the Lodge in a very hot August, the Lodge was cool.

It's furnished well and very spacious, making for a comfortable stay. The local pub is a ten minute walk away, but only serves food for part of the week, but they're working on expanding that. Highly recommended.

A tastefully furnished property, compact and comfortable with parking and courtyard garden.

Lovely host who ensured all our needs were met. Fresh flowers, eggs, milk and scones, jam and cream in the lodge on arrival - all much appreciated. There was even a basket of items to use for the dog. A characterful venue we cannot fault.

I very much enjoyed my stay at East Lodge.

The accomodation was just right for me and for my dog. We liked the short walk map of village footpaths and found it very useful in exploring the village. The village pub was friendly and i enjoyed 2 meals there. It was a short car ride to the next village for a shop which provided all the basics and a newspaper. We loved the dog hamper with its many goodies and the tags. There were very clear instructions about everything. The scones milk and juice and beautiful flowers made me feel at home. Laura introduced herself and was a great help in providing sting relief following my experience fallinf in some nettles. Many thanks

Fabulous accommodation.

Every possible need was accounted for, comfortable & clean. Would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely, quirky property. If your taking small dogs with you the courtyard is lovely but not totally secure. That said we didn't find it an insurmountable problem. The scones were absolutely gorgeous !!!

The property is great, lovely location.

Sykes Cottages, however, have disappointed my wife and I such that we would never use them again. If you are uncertain as to why, or care, feel free to contact me and I will explain why and repeat my wife’s interaction with Sykes in December last year..

Would be better with a freezer as there is no shops nearby

Absolutely lovely.

First class accommodation. Perfect for a couple and a dog. Just one tiny niggle was that the doors squeaked. A bit of WD40 would resolve easily.

A real feeling home from home , the owners thought of everything, we were sad to leave

Although portable fencing is supplied to go around the garden, it is not secure as can and did blow down, .

Main road is just the other side of the hedge and cars drive quite fast. If there was chicken wire around the bottom of all hedges and fence and gate at the driveway side it would make it more dog friendly. Wonderful Couples retreat though.

Lovely Lodge to stay in but needs a bit of maintenance to make it more enjoyable for example door to garden area you could not open.

Also feel having to strip bed at end of holiday was not reasonable request, as I am on holiday. Very Quiet Area. Garden not secure if you have dogs, but owner does provide fence you can set up. Be aware very near busy road and no path to walk on. Field nearby to walk dogs in was lovely. The handbook with lots of useful information the owner provides was very helpful. Homemade scones on arrival were delicious. Was a nice stay but we would not return.

This is a lovely place to stay.

We came here for a long weekend and found it very comfortable. Even though the weather was bad it was a cosy warm retreat to snuggle down in thanks to the underfloor heating. The comfy bed was very large and the bed linen of good quality. All the facilities worked , beautifully clean,a perfect place for a couple. There are excellent restaurants locally and we found the information guide at the lodge very helpful. For anyone with limited mobility this would work well as there are no stairs to negotiate. It was very quiet and peaceful there too. Highly recommended.

Was a nice place to stay, very clean inside, the garden was nice, added bonus was a bbq unit, plenty of walks for people and dogs, only downside was having to walk on the road to get to the footpaths.

The lodge was so welcoming with fresh flowers scones cream and jam plus a hamper for our dog.

Everything we needed was at hand. The lodge was spacious, clean and cosy. It was a hot few days so we could sit outside on the patio after our walks. Very close to a road though, that was quite busy. Lots of information about places to visit so ideally located. The 35 min walk to the Cartwheel pub was a delight over scenic fields at harvest time. The food at the pub was more Michelin star than pub grub so we went two nights on the trot. Highly recommended. All in all a wonderful 4 nights stay

Absolutely lovely accommodation.

Lots of little touches such as a magnifying mirror in the bathroom and welcoming bundle. Ideally situated to explore the new forest and surrounding areas. Cosy comfortable base to come home to. Had a wonderful relaxing time.

Good points and some not so good points for us.

First the good points: The cottage was very clean, the huge bed was very comfortable, the cooking equipment and tableware was of high quality, it has a lovely bathroom with a wide deep bath and excellent shower over, a lovely bbq was supplied along with tools, some nice scones, jam, cream and milk welcomed us, the cottage has excellent wifi, the owners contacted us during our stay to see if we’d settled in. Now the not so good points: It wasn’t made clear in the listing that West Park was out of bounds to cottage guests, tv was small and didn’t work initially although this was rectified quickly, the couch was sagging and not comfortable, there were lots of cupboards but not much space to put our food as they were mostly holding cookware etc., there wasn’t much in the way of cleaning products we could have done with some toilet cleaner, the road at the side was noisy with traffic, the surrounding roads were narrow with no pavements so dangerous for walkers, the road in Fordingbridge was closed necessitating a huge detour (this obviously wasn’t the fault of the owners though but it did detract from our holiday), the nearest pub was shut (but again not the fault of the owners). I think we chose a bad week to stay. Conclusion We enjoyed a restful break in a reasonably comfortable quirky cottage but due to the things we’ve listed we probably won’t return.

Having had self catering holidays for many years this accommodation would certainly rank amongst the best.

Well equipped property and ideally located to explore the New Forest area

We had a couple of queries prior to booking and Laura, the owner, was responsive and helpful.

Our stay at East Lodge was excellent and, again, Laura helped us by enabling us to make the patio area secure for our little dogs. We would recommend this area of England for a holiday eg New Forest, Bucklers Hard, Jane Austen House, and the Roma Villa. Excellent Sunday Lunch at the local pub. Highly recommended.

The lodge was comfortable, clean and well maintained.

It provided everything that we needed for our self catering stay. We loved the comfortable bed, the deep bath for relaxing after a long walk, and the large bath towels! Scones, jam and cream on arrival was a nice touch. It would have been a little better if we could have let the dog out in the back garden securely ( something that wasn't very clear in the advertising). This property was perfectly situated for nearby walks along marked paths and within a short car journey of several nature reserves. We had a lovely few days.

We loved East Lodge, it is furnished to a very high standard and is extremely comfortable accommodation.

Our host Laura was very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely be back.

East Lodge was so lovely.

A huge thank you to Laura for all that was provided to make our stay so comfortable. The attention to detail was impressive even down to supplying a dog tag with local numbers for dogs on holiday in case they got lost. Three days were not long enough so we are very much looking forward to returning to do more walking in this gorgeous part of the New Forest.

Wonderful stay in this comfortable, warm and cosy cottage.

Great position and with everything you need. We stay in cottages regularly and this one is right up there with the best.

We had a delightful break in this property.

We could not fault any aspect. All we needed, met the owner who was wonderfully welcoming, and even the weather was better than forecast.

This was a lovely little lodge for us to base ourselves whilst in the area.

We had three small dogs with us and they were comfortable and accommodated. The underfloor heating is very effective, so if visiting in colder weather, have no fear about keeping warm. all the pubs around are dog friendly, and we can recommend the The Rose & Thistle in the village. Very nice food. There has been some criticism in a couple of reviews about the WiFi speed and stability. This is NOT the case. The WiFi is very stable and typical download speeds are around 25Mbps which is more than adequate for streaming HD TV. There is no problem. Do be prepared for very limited mobile phone signals all over the New Forest, on all networks. The National Trust do not allow phone masts so no phone signal. Switch your mobile phone to WiFi calling, and when in the Lodge you will receive and be able to make calls with ease. We can thoroughly recommend the East Lodge, we had a lovely week's break there.

Comfortable, quiet accommodation of individual character.

Ideal holiday location on the edge of a lovely village. Access to nearby towns is good. The cottage is well maintained with all necessary facilities and thaughtful detail.

The East Lodge is a good bolt hole for exploring Hampshire.

Overall the lodge was nice and the goodies and the things for the dogs were very good. Great to find a place where the dogs are welcome. The extendable gate for securing-off the garden was ideal!! There are a few improvements which may make the stay even more comfortable: 1. No access to mobile network until further into the village, is inconvenient as unfortunately in this day and age it is considered a necessary utility. Whilst there is Wifi, the connection is not good enough to stream on all devices and it is not a secure network connection. Not much the owner can do about this, except mention it in the description. 2. Fridge was missing a shelf in the door which limited the space, especially for tall cartons, like milk cartons. 3. Additional cups and mugs plus other cutlery. 4. Additional smaller towels in the bathroom. 5. The sash windows couldn’t get to open top half maybe they do, but didn’t want to force (we noticed they did open on West Lodge). So we were very apprehensive as to leaving the window open either at night or when not in the bedroom. 5. Very noisy and busy road. Lots of through traffic especially during the week.

We have see this property over the past few years and it has never been available when we wanted.

This year it was and we are really pleased we booked. This is a perfect cottage for access to the New Forest and surrounding areas. The description is accurate and the cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We had some great days out and have to mention The Cartwheel Inn nearby where we experienced probably one on the best Sunday roasts we have ever had ( table should be booked as very busy) The weather was not the best but who cares when the surroundings and accommodation are so good. We will definitely return.

East Lodge is a nice cottage with lovely surroundings and was well equipped.

Plenty of wildlife to see, with lots of butterflies in the garden. Welcome goodies were well received after a long journey. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely comfortable stay.

The lodge was very clean and equipped with everything you could need. A couple of things we forgot but they had been provided such as a hair dryer and phone charger. Very welcoming for dogs, useful information packs, essentials such as tea and coffee provided and very much appreciated on arrival. The local Indian delivers which was great and we ordered twice. Would definitely recommend and would be happy to stay there again.

We loved this little cottage.

It was a perfect location for our stay. The cottage was very clean, instructions for everything clear and the bed super comfortable. Loved the welcome goodies. A fly swatter would be a good addition to things around the house as we had quite a few come in once the doors were open. Being able to walk to a decent pub was great. Definitely would book again.

The Lodge was so well equipped, comfortable and really felt like home. The welcome milk, juice, bread etc was lovely as was the hamper for the dog! We would have no hesitation in returning to this beautiful place. Simply excellent!

We really enjoyed staying at The Lodge.

We had a lovely time and met Laura briefly during our stay. We felt very welcomed and it was a home from home for us over the Easter period. Thanks Laura for making our stay extra special.

The description this was "Pet friendly" was certainly incorrect.

The do's & dont's were so many it totally spoiled our stay. Only dog walking was not possible for slightly disabled people. The lodge was fine with no problems at all IF you were staying WITHOUT a pet. So restrictive that having spent £800 for a whole week, we returned home after just 2 nights. No refund offered, not even the £50 supplement for our two dogs.

It is rare to find a property that is immaculate and very tastefully decorated but the East Lodge is such a place.

The owner really has put thought into the details and it shows. Beautiful accommodation and a lovely location.

This is a fantastic property, full of history and such an amazing modernization of a gatehouse.

Is easy to forget you are staying somewhere and every evening feels like your coming home. I have never used a real fire before and was so looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. With the under floor heating it is not actually needed, rooms are so lovely and cozy. Outside area will be great in warmer times, I used it on the warmer days I was there. So much to do close to property and local town offers plenty of shopping and city is amazing with much history. Whether you just want to stay and never go anywhere or go everywhere this is perfect. A nice touch to have so much info on the place and the surrounding area, and nice supplies on arrival. Was also lovely touch for the owner to introduce themselves and make sure you have everything you need and have a phone to contact them if you need anything. They also have a service of a breakfast hamper if you are interested, or you can go to shops and sort out your own. This is a hard place not to return to, next time I may stay in the other lodge as they have subtle differences. Thanks for an amazing holiday!!!

Very well equipped and very warm and comfortable. Good instructions for everything and lots of helpful advice for things to do with map for dog walks around the village.

East Lodge was the perfect place for the two of us and our dog.

The owners had clearly gone to a lot of trouble to ensure that we had everything that we needed. There was lots of information in the property to help us decide where to go and what to do and it really was a pleasure to come back to this was cosy, warm and spotlessly clean home after a days exploring. The Rose and Thistle pub in the village is an absolute gem - and it’s dog friendly. We’d have absolutely no hesitation in recommending East Lodge to anyone.

! A perfect getaway for two. Spacious and well appointed. Plenty of walking opportunities or cosy enough to just hunkerdown for a day. Only one shocking ommission.......no coasters!!

An excellent stay in a great location for accessing the New Forest and coast.

Very comprehensive folder of information provided. The owners have thought through what is needed and useful to make the stay so comfortable. Having bread, milk, orange juice, biscuits and marmalade on arrival was a lovely touch, as was the dog's hamper and treats. The log fire in the evenings was wonderful after a day out. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

A beautifully appointed property.

Clean. Comfortable. Lovely personal touches. Very helpful (but unobtrusive) hosts. A lovely place to unwind and relax. Dog friendly but the garden is not enclosed. Not a problem, use a lead. Close (by car) to Salisbury, Fordingbridge and the New Forest. I've stayed here on many previous occasions and will happily stay again.

We had the loveliest short break in this beautiful little lodge.

When we arrived it was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable and there were lots of lovely touches like the doggy hamper, bottle of milk in the fridge, shortbread, flowers etc. It felt like the owners had thought of everything and the additional fencing provided to keep the garden enclosed and secure for dogs was particularly appreciated as it gave us great piece of mind. The lodges are beautifully situated on the edge of gorgeous Rockbourne village and is within easy reach of both the New Forest and the Cranbourne Chase AONB. We were blessed with glorious Autumn weather and enjoyed visits with our dogs to Old Wardour Castle, the Forest, Exbury Gardens and the coast at Highcliffe. The Rose and Thistle pub at the other end of the village is worth a visit too-very welcoming and the food was delicious. Just don't try to walk there once it is dark as cars drive very fast through the village and the road is unlit. We loved our very relaxing stay at East Lodge and really hope to return in the near future.

the cottage was lovely, warm and comfortable with everything needed for a short stay.

The bed is huge and very comfy, and Laura was very friendly and helpful. There is only really one point to make, which is more to do with the listing than the cottage itself, the description states that there is easy access to the New Forest, so we expected it to be on the foorstep, but it was about five miles away, and the walk near the cottage was across farm fields, so pretty muddy. Other than that we were very happy

East Lodge was a lovely cottage.

It was very clean and we especially liked the wood burner fire, for which loads of wood was provided. It was a well equipped cottage and the bed was very comfortable. The owner left us some nice Jam, biscuits and coffee which was a nice touch. I would recommend to people to stay there.

This is a lovely property for a couple.

It is on the edge of the New Forest and not far from Salisbury. Although Rockbourne is a tiny village, it does have a good pub that does great food.

A fantastic and relaxing stay (week) for us and our dog.

We were so lucky with the weather and the lodge provided the perfect base for us with so much close by to explore. We would definitely use the lodge again! A great escape.

A super comfy and clean cottage, we really enjoyed our stay. So nice to have proper bath sheets, instead of the oft provided tiny, almost hand sized ones and we also appreciated the herbs on the patio (very handy mint and chives). Our only observation would be for dog owners, as although the garden has a hedge around it there is no fence there to stop your canine friend getting under/through, if they are of a nosey/adventurous mind.

Lovely property - nicely equipped, tastefully furnished and well placed for the New Forest and South Coast.

Property listed as dog friendly. Not clear until we got there that dogs are not allowed on the sofa or in the bedroom - whilst understandable, this really should be stated in the listing. A DVD was listed, but is not present in the property. Property is quite close to the road. Not a big issue, and fine at night.

Nice set of "welcome gifts". Super cozy heating was great to return to after a cold walk and a very comfy BIG bed. Nothing to fault at all and we are already looking at booking again.

This place is fantastic.

Spotlessly clean and inviting. Everything has been catered for from maps for local walks to universal chargers (just in case you have forgotten yours), shortbread biscuits to wood for log fire. Very dog friendly with a basket full of towels. treats, dog tags, high viz, strips to name but a few. The guest book has some great recommendations of places to go. We particularly liked the local pub "Rose and Thistle", great food and very dog friendly. Dogs have their own menu. Thank you very much Laura. We will be back I'm sure.

Lots of local walks to explore and the New Forest close by. Everything was scruplously clean and well maintained.

Humans and dogs very well catered for. Local produce provided as welcome gifts is a lovely touch. Laura was available if we needed anything, but everything had been thought of for our stay in this cottage, that we did not need to bother her. Lovely village pub with home cooked menu was very welcoming. Lots of scenic walks through the forest. Would definitely book again.

We had a very comfortable stay. It was in a great location with easy access to New Forrest, small towns and villages and Salisbury.

Lovely, charming, quirky holiday cottage, spotlessly clean, quiet location.

Close to New Forest & short drive into Dorset. Everything you could wish for. Fresh flowers, delicious shortbread, fresh orange juice and milk were very welcome. A courtesy visit from the owner shortly after arrival to ensure everything was ok, was very nice too. Would recommend if interested in this beautiful area

This accommodation had everything we needed and more.

It was perfect in every way apart from the traffic noise from the road through the village but that has no impact on the accommodation itself or Sykes Cottages

East lodge is bigger than I expected, the main room was very comfortable and the bedroom with its king size bed was bigger than I expected.

Everything we needed was provided including some milk, orang juice, coffee & biscuits for us and a doggy hamper of stuff fir our dog. It’s in a very quiet area, only 10 minutes from the New Forest and ideally placed for visiting Salisbury, Southampton, Bournemouth & Poole. We had a relaxing stay here.

An unusual building which made it a different experience. Loved the views from the bedroom and the living area yet all very private. On another note , mobile reception not good.

We literally wanted for nothing.

I'm used to having to pay extra for more firewood but we had a whole woodstore to help ourselves too, plus firelighters and kindling. The heated floor was lovely and so easy to use - although don't turn it down in winter! It does take a long time to heat up. The kitchen was well equipped with clever cupboard space - I would have needed a stool to reach the top shelves if my partner wasn't taller than me. We were greeted with biscuits, coffee and fresh whole milk. The bathroom was clean and comfortable, the heated towel rail next to the toilet is a nice touch. The shower was strong and the bath a great size. The place was easy to find with the instructions, but perhaps co-ordinates would be useful for sat nav users instead of the post code. The big windows and glass doors allowed for a lovely amount of light and with windows only on one side of the property it was perfectly private. East lodge does sit next to the road, so those who are sensitive to occasional traffic noise might prefer its sister property, West Lodge - but we weren't bothered by the occasional fast car. Didn't use the washing machine. Dishwasher was efficient and quiet. WiFi was impeccable - we streamed a lot of programmes and movies using our own device on the TV and it didn't need to buffer once. Laura was lovely too and incredibly helpful in response to all my questions - Thanks again, Laura! I've never stayed in a property that was this perfect - and I'm not exaggerating, I'm quite hard to impress. Highly recommend and will be back!

Will Definitely return .

Our stay at East Lodge was warm, cosy and comfortable.

There was everything there that we needed. We had a problem with the kettle and it was sorted out straight away. From East Lodge it was easy for us to reach many of the villages in the New Forest plus Salisbury, Bournemouth and Poole. We stayed for two weeks and were given a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers each week which cheered up the lodge. We also were left some goodies on arrival with a doggie box included which included leads, treats, tags and many other things to help when you have a canine friend with you. The only downside we had was that the garden and patio area were not dog proof.

Overall we had a restful time within the confines of Covid 19.

The property was comfortable (I found the settee far too soft and spent much of the time on a dining chair). Laura was very pleasant bringing fresh flowers at the end of the first week to replace the ones that were there as we arrived - a nice touch. She also offered to change the bedding and the towels after the first week. On the negative side some of the crockery was dirty and the grill pan was very greasy. The photographs of the kitchen need updating for the kitchen units were not as shown. The cooker hob also needs to be amended because it is not an induction hob (we have got one ourselves). Overall it was an unusual property to stay at and its history was fascinating. Would we consider staying there again? Well, yes, because we had a good time exploring the New Forest which was just on the doorstep.

The uniqueness of the gate house the area is beautiful and peaceful.

The Lodge was a perfect place for a 'get a way' break.

The décor was superb and tasteful in every way. Every little detail had been thought through and nothing was lacking. Had expected it to be much smaller so we were really pleasantly surprised by the amount of space.

The cottage was lovely, spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped.

. The added touch by Laura leaving freshly baked scones with jam and cream was wonderful and very welcome after a 5 hour drive. We found the cottage very well located for visiting the new forest and coastal areas.

Very clean. Laura very friendly and welcoming. Everything is there that you need i.e cleaning materials, washing tablets, dishwasher tablets etc, shower gel, bath salts, fresh bread and scones with jam and clotted cream on arrival. Beautiful fresh flowers in bedroom and kitchen area. Ideal location. Couldn’t really fault it. Would definitely return.

This is a clean, very comfortable lodge.

Laura had thought of every convenience, from poo bags for the dog to a multi connector for the phone/iPad, just in case you needed it! We were greeted with fresh cut flower arrangements and a cream tea and made to feel very welcome. I hope we can stay longer next time.

We have now stayed here several times and always found everything fantastic.

The standard is always the same. The owner always welcomes you and leaves lovely goodies on your arrival. Nothing is too much trouble. Always on hand if you require anything. Such a lovely location and lovely eateries not too far away. It is a bonus to have a real log fire.

Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly and provides a very nice welcome pack.

We did have a minor issue with the TV controls. The host resolved the issue on the day of arrival. We felt confident that if we needed to contact our hosts ant any time during our stay, they would be there with speed and efficiency

East Lodge is a real gem.

A peaceful location, spotlessly clean and very warm and cosy. Very well equipped with quality linen and tasteful decor throughout. We appreciated the delicious homemade cream tea, fresh flowers and welcome goodies. Dog friendly too was a real bonus. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We were blown away by the setting and accommodation offered by the East Lodge (mirror image of West Lodge).

It is simple but luxurious villa with a very high standard of finish. the bathroom well appointed ,spacious / comfortable and living room with an open fire perfect for nights in. The small village is a perfect setting with a great gastro pub (Rose & Thistle) and multiple walks around. It is close enough to the New Forest to visit everyday but different enough to feel a different country. We didn't tell the owners we were going staying for our honeymoon and as soon as they knew they hand delivered a generous welcome pack. Simply we will be back.

A really homely, comfortable lodge.

Everything you could wish for is catered for, including a pet hamper for your dog. We stayed with our Westie here and loved the week's break. The personal touches the owner makes like the welcome cream tea, milk and fresh eggs ready for you makes you feel special - a really lovely touch. Laura is on hand to welcome you and check all has been OK when you leave, so you're well looked after. Plenty of lovely walks and pet friendly pubs close by. Will come again.

We stayed in your lovely cottage in June 2016 for 12 days and felt so at home and comfortable we could have stayed much longer.

Your attention to detail, the cosiness, all the extras you provided and the cleanliness of the cottage was second to none. Your welcoming tea and scones and personal visit made us feel very special. The local pub was fabulous and we enjoyed an evening stroll out for a wonderful meal. Our experience in the New Forest was exceptional. What a lovely pocket of England in which to live. East Lodge was a very relaxing place to stay and spotlessly clean.

The owner had thought of everything including welcoming scones and fresh flowers. The property was decorated very tastefully and there were nice touches throughout. The location was very convenient for accessing villages in the New Forest. Overall an excellent stay.

Both West Park Lodges were easy to find following the directions given by the Hideaways Team.

The owner Laura popped in to see everything was OK on our day of arrival. The Lodge had everything we needed and more for our restful break, including lots of ideas for outings. The lodge was clean and well presented with the lovely touch of a cream tea waiting for us. If I was to be picky my initial concern was the road running alongside East Lodge which when sitting in the beautiful patio area could be off putting if a large vehicle went past or a speedy vehicle. However as this is a rural location it was not a continual problem and did not deter from our lovely break.

We have just returned from a relaxing 3 night stay in East Lodge.

The accommodation was beautifully decorated with many extra little touches to make guests feel truly at home. The fresh scones, eggs and flowers were a lovely welcome - as was the doggie hamper full of canine essentials for our dog Jessie! The picturesque village of Rockbourne and surrounding area is well worth a stroll and the proximity of the New Forest, as well as the coast, makes East Lodge a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the world.

We have just returned from a lovely week at East Lodge.

...a one bedroomed lovingly and thoughtfully extended lodge cottage. The cottage was well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Upon arrival there was crusty bread, tea bags, coffee and sugar provided to start us off, and prior to arrival our host said that she would accept shop 'n drop for us if we needed. The bed was exceptionally comfy and, in a way, we were glad of the one chilly night so we could light the lovely log fire. All in all a lovely week, walking and cycling from the door as well as some investigations further afield. Would highly recommend.

We stayed with our sons in both the East and West Lodges; the accommodation was as ever to the highest standard and what makes it perfect is the additional provision of eggs, milk, bread and even fresh flowers and scones laid our ready for our arrival.

The underfloor heating really gives a real touch of luxury whilst the open fire if you prefer it, is perfect for cold winter evenings. With the Rose and Thistle just 5 minutes away and its close proximity to the New Forest it is a dream.

East lodge is a beautiful cottage.

Waiting for us on arrival was some delicious home-made bread with jam , fresh eggs and cut flowers. The accommodation was excellent, beautifully decorated and extremely well equipped. This was our first visit to the New Forest and was a good base to explore from.

We stayed for four nights, and had a wonderful stay.

Cleanliness five star, equipment and utensils five star, quality of furnishings five star, bed linen five star and in such an unusual building! Very spacious with modern touches in a quaint and tastefully finished lodge. The kitchen cupboards are well stocked with day to day larder items. The owners have gone the extra mile to make this a home from home. The welcome goodies were delicious, a lovely home made cream tea for two, new laid eggs and beautiful cut garden flowers in every room. Thank you!\ We took our two Welsh Terriers with us and they were made to feel just as welcome, with lots of extras waiting for them. Even dog tags with the lodge address and phone number on should they get lost whilst on holiday. Very impressive!

Our first holiday as a new family with our daughter of 7 months.

Arrived to warm welcome; scones, homemade jam, eggs, tea, meadow flowers. Gorgeous location in beautiful Rockbourne within easy reach of the New Forest. The lodge has been restored and decorated to an extremely high standard. It is comfortable and cosy, and very well equipped - very well thought out. Our stay was made even easier as the owner generously provided us with a cot, high chair, bouncy chair and basket full of toys and books for our baby to use! We all slept incredibly well, and were well rested. We could have happily stayed on another week (or two...).

You know we just love the lodge, but we especially appreciate the scones, the tea, coffee, lovely fresh eggs and oil to cook them.

The two-seater sofa is an improvement on the two arm chairs. The bedroom is lovely and so well decorated and dressed. The double bath is a big hit, I always enjoy a glass of champagne in it to unwind. I think you have thought of everything and it is so handy being able to walk to the pub and have a good meal with good wine and stagger home! We are always so sad to leave...

We have had a lovely stay here at East Lodge.

Everything was just as expected. Lovely touches with the delicious scones and jam and eggs, and the flowers were beautiful. Would recommend it as a relaxing and homely cottage.
