Rose Cottage

Lovely, comfortable house in a stunning area.

Great views from the house (plus a field of new lambs just over the fence) and Hay on Wye a 10 min drive away, with some amazing and varied walks.

Beautiful views and very quiet location lots of lovely walks in the area.

This was our second stay at Rose Cottage.

It's clean and well appointed with lovely views. There's lots to see and do in the area. We had a great Sunday lunch at the Rhydspence Inn. Our days out included trips to Hay-on-Wye, Ross -on-Wye, Hampton Court Castle and Hereford Cathedral. The nearby Oakchurch Farm Shop is really handy. I can highly recommend a stay at Rose Cottage

A beautiful property , very comfortable and very well equipped in an idyllic location.

Owners were very friendly and responsive at all times.

A great cottage for an active break in the area.

This is our perfect holiday cottage.

This was our third stay!

Rose Cottage felt like stepping into a fairytale.

The scenery and views around it were breathtaking, and the house itself was in immaculate condition. We had such a lovely time there; we were so sad when it was time to leave.

The photos do not do the place justice.

The decor is tasteful and understated. It’s very clean. The location is central and in a beautiful spot with lovely views. The house is well equipped with powerful hot showers. The beds are comfy with lovely crisp bed linen. The kitchen is well equipped. We were left a very generous and seasonal hamper. The landscaping outside is beautifully done too. Easy and ample private parking. There is some noise from the road but it did not detract from our stay. We have had such a wonderful break and would highly recommend.

Extremely well presented comfortable accommodation.

Thoughtful welcome pack of milk and cake from a nearby farm shop, Oakchurch. Fabulous view southwards towards local hillside, spectacular sunrises, with the bonus of lambs in the adjacent fields keeping us entertained! Short drive to Hay-on-Wye. Plenty of walking options nearby.- Herefordshire Trail, Offa’s Dyke and the Black Mountains/Y Mynyddoed Duon.

This was our second visit to Rose Cottage and it was equally as good as the first which was five years earlier.

The accommodation was still every bit as good as previously thus its very well maintained and cared for. Its a great location being private and with lovely rural views and the Lambs are entertaining as they bound around the field in front. We would highly recommend Rose Cottage.

Property generally very good, lovely and warm.

Sofas in lounge could have been more comfortable. A more obvious sign for the property would be useful closer to the road. All in all a most enjoyable stay.

A really lovely cozy but spacious cottage with stunning views over the Wye valley and hills beyond.

There was everything you needed and more to make for a perfect stay. The underfloor heating on the ground floor was a great bonus as we had a mixed week weather wise with it starting of cold, so the cottage was so nice to come back to after exploring the local area. It was great seeing all the sheep plus lots of wild live including a fox, rabbits, hares, a red kite and a pleathera of birds. Sharon called round during the week to make sure all was OK. Many thanks Sharon for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage and for the goody pack. We visited and thoroughly recommend Hay-on-wye, Ludlow and Hereford. The best local pub for delicious meals and a fantastic roast on Sundays is The Boat Inn just down the road in Witney-on-wye. A 5* cottage for sure.

We’ve had a lovely relaxing holiday at this beautiful cottage.

Warm, clean and very inviting as soon as you walk through the front door. It is surrounded with lovely views and has everything you need to make this a memorable holiday. warm, clean and well equipped. Lovely comfortable beds also which is a definite bonuses. There cottage is surrounded with beautiful picturesque views. A very good location and central for all our needs. Lovely places to visit and to eat out.

This was our second time at this property having had such a good first time experience.

Its situation allows us the peace and solitude we enjoy. Lovely views, bird watching, walks. But there is also a lot to see in the area near at hand, nice towns villages and plenty of good eating places.Very enjoyable.

The best property we have stayed in.

The pictures on the website do not do it justice ! We will certainly look to stay there again because it enhanced our holiday experience so much.

Rose Cottage is fabulous!

Stunning property in lovely location with beautiful views of Wye valley and hills. Property has been well maintained with every room tastefully decorated and furnished. It was well equipped, there was everything we needed. The beds are very comfy, the showers are brilliant. This is a five star property, I would highly recommend it.

The cottage and its location was amazing.

We have never relaxed so well in a holiday cottage as I did in Rose Cottage a real home from home. The views from the cottage are wonderful and the outside seating is perfect. Great location as you are near to Hay-on Wye and also Hereford for shopping but also not too far from great walks. We will be back.

Lovely secluded cottage in the Wye valley giving a nice quiet countryside retreat away from it all.

You do need to drive to pick up provisions though as Winforton has no shops and only a pub that only opens for part of the week. The cottage itself is well laid out for 6 people and has plenty of storage space. All in all a nice little find if you want a peaceful retreat and a base to go and explore what Herefordshire has to offer.

We found the property to be very well equipped, clean and spacious.

It has lovely views across open fields onto hills, given it was lambing season the fields were full of Ewes and lambs. Pre-arrival we had a very informative email explaining things, including the local area, activities and places to eat which was nice to receive. There was a nice welcome pack on arrive. A very enjoyable stay, would recommend to others.

Fire safety completely ignored - no safety lights, no torches, no signs and all the external doors on standard keys hung under the stairs.

No first kit, no information on consumer board or stop cock, local hospitals etc. Guest information 7 years out of date. Kitchen equipment inadequate and not to Sykes standard. Oven and extractor fan not cleaned. No heating in the bedrooms during the day and no override. Fridge freezer especially the freezer totally inadequate for the number of guests. Not a 5 tick experiance

Bright cottage, warm and cosy.

Great views. Comfy beds and powerful showers. Very clean. Easy parking for 2 cars. Had a lovely stay, would definitely recommend.

The cottage was lovely.

Everything we could want was provided. The house was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location was excellent too, being close to Hay on Wye and even closer to Oakchurch farm shop and Brobury Gardens. We would definitely recommend Rose Cottage, and we would love to come back again ourselves.

Hi Sharon Your holiday cottage was absolutely perfect and we couldn't have chosen a better stay for us, Loved all the little touches you provided, the apple juice & cookies we're mmmmmm lovely We will definitely book with Sharon at Rose cottage again.

Thanks Dave & Lyndsey

Fabulous week at Rose cottage.

The house is lovely has everything needed to make it a comfortable stay. Such a lovely location quiet lane with sheep for neighbours. 5 stars all round from us . Thank you for the welcome basket lovely local treats .

A lovely warm, comfortable cottage in excellent location and with amazing views.

Second stay at Rose Cottage.

Immaculately clean and very comfortable. A great base for this part of the Wye Valley

Beautiful cottage comfy beds.

lovely views over fields.10 minute drive to hay on wye.lovely garden centre nearby. Had two meals at the boat pub in next village highly recommend.owners left milk sugar coffee apple juice and a Victoria sponge for us .would book again.

Lovely house and setting.

Beautiful views. However: Parking and access is much tighter than the impression given by the listing photos. Manageable for us, but could be trickier for others depending on their vehicle, The en-suite shower didn’t adjust water temperature properly and dripped noisily all night. Cutlery was dirty with dried on food remnants and had to be hand washed to get clean enough to be used. Most importantly, the fridge doesn’t work properly and was nowhere near cold enough to store food safely.. Mostly as a result of the last point, we left and returned home early,

Rose Cottage was a great place to stay for our week exploring Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding area.

Cottage is in a lovely village location with fabulous country views. Very private, not overlooked at all. Had everything we needed and very comfortable. Good parking spaces.

What a fabulous find - really well built and equipped cottage on the edge of the village with stunning views to hills opposite.

Rare to find rental cottages of this quality.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Rose Cottage.

Such a beautiful, comfortable, thoughtfully arranged and cosy cottage, with fabulous views! Would highly recommend!

Wonderful stay in a great cottage.

We will definitely come back.

Great location & a lovely homely feeling in the cottage.

The cottage had everything you need for a great stay & we will definitely be back.

Fabulous property with stunning views.

Well equipped and a high standard of finish. Had a fantastic stay with friends. We hope to have a return trip at some point.

Rose Cottage was one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Very clean and well appointed. The setting is lovely with beautiful views. We very much appreciated the welcome pack. There's lots to see and do in the area. So much that we are keen to go back and would definitely want to stay at Rose Cottage again.

A Lovely property to have a family holiday.

Clean, comfortable beds and furniture. Nice large dining area, with lovely views all around. Quiet, easily accessible, with parking. Nice villages and towns to visit, good eating places, pubs and restaurants very short drives away. Best welcome basket with lovely bespoke local goods. Oakland shop about 10 minutes away is a must. Really must not miss having a home made ice-cream cone from their kiosk in the car park. BIGGEST and best ice cream cone we have ever had. Lots of flavours. Called the Harrods of the area, lives up to its name. Very surprised at how nice this area and accommodation was! Will go back for sure.

A lovely, comfortable and homely cottage with the most fabulous views.

Owners Sharon and Stephen are very friendly and helpful and respond very quickly if you have any questions. We were blessed with very good weather so enjoyed a lot of breakfasting and sitting out in the private garden looking out at the sheep and the countryside. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very well maintained and very well equipped and very conveniently located just off the A438 between Hereford and Hay on Wye. There are some welcoming pubs within a few miles offering nice food - and a very friendly local pub with good cooking about 2 minutes walk away. It was a perfect stay.

This is a lovely, comfortable property in a stunning and peaceful setting.

Very handy for touring in the Wye Valley area. Highly recommended.

A lovely holiday cottage in a peaceful location, perfect for a hiking holiday.

Fabulous views from the sun/dining room and very relaxing to sit and watch the lambs in the fields. Good food served in the Sun Inn (limited opening times) and also in The Blue Boar in Hay-on Wye. My only recommendation would be perhaps to have a folder with information on how to use appliances/recycling etc?

A wonderful cottage in a peaceful location.

Great location to explore the surrounding areas like Hereford, Ross on wye, Brecon etc. Cottage is in a village with one pub The Sun which is very welcoming and served lovely food. Lovely walk down to the river and back into village. Note there is know street lights in the village so a torch is very useful. The cottage itself is of very high standard everything for your needs. If you can excess “what three words” use this to identify location of cottage as it tucked away down a little lane.

Lovely comfortable cottage, only recommendation would be that maybe another chair would be useful in the sitting room if 6 adults are sharing.

Would also be useful to have a laminated sheet advising of local walks etc

Lovely place to stay and perfect location for walking and exploring the surrounding areas.

Would highly recommend

Such a beatiful cottage and location with everything we needed.

Would certainly stay there again.

Lovely cottage - everything was just perfect and lovely welcome basket

Absolutely stunning property , beautiful views.

Everything you could think of was there. Definatley go again.

Brilliant quiet location in village with superb views across fields to the hills.

Pub in village serves food but restricted opening hours. We visited nearby National Trust properties, gardens and Hay on Wye all within easy reach. House itself was perfect. Clean, warm, comfortable furniture inside and in the garden, with everything you needed in the kitchen and adjoining laundry room. But perhaps the best feature were the stunning views from the conservatory/ dining room and the 2 upstairs bedrooms. Would definitely recommend. Thank you also to Sharon the owner for the delicious and generous welcome basket.

What an amazing place.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage. The setting idyllic with a lovely walk to the river and a great 'foodie' pub nearby. The accomodation was the perfect blend of old world style in a fully new, clean, warm renovated building. Excellent facilities, olent of space for our party of 6. Great to have 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. Garden was amazing to play lawn games. Had BBQ facilities if you needed it, a lovely woodburner that we didn't use but would be great in cold weather. All other equipment (eg kitchen) was more than adequate. Best of all Sharon the host was excellent....provided us everything we needed, responded almost immediately to any question and provided us a few welcome surprises that added to a lovely holiday experience. We will be back again!

Excellent property shame about the television- too small

Rose cottage is a lovely place to stay, all enclosed and with wonderful views of the hills across the fields.

We liked the fact that it was completely detached, within its own grounds, and at the very end of a private lane. Very nicely laid out, with everything you could need for a holiday, and the milk and cake which waited for us were a nice touch by the owner. Sharon very promptly and helpfully answered our email enqueries both prior to the holiday, and during. All in all we would highly recommend this property.

second visit to Rose Cottage - as good as our previous stay - it met our expectations - one of our favourite places The view from the cottage is beautiful - sheep in the meadows The Black Mountains in the distance - you feel like your ON HOLIDAY

It was a very peaceful location with lovely views.

The home itself was superb and the welcome pack was very much appreciated. A wonderful place to relax and take in the sights.

An immaculate and well-appointed cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location.

Our visit was the first after the latest travel restrictions had lifted but everything went smoothly. The owners were extremely helpful and made contact prior to our break with useful local information and to check how the bedrooms should be configured. We enjoyed the recommended local walks and relaxing in the lovely garden, taking in the views and being entertained by the lambs in the neighbouring field. We have already booked and are looking forward to our next stay.

The property was superb and in beautiful surroundings.

A real getaway that we would highly recommend

Fabulous cottage in peaceful, convenient setting with wonderful scenic views.

Lots to see in the area including stunning gardens at Brobury House and Hergest Croft. Cottage was very clean, well equipped, warm with individual room stats, excellent bathrooms and comfortable beds. Sharon, the owner, was very helpful and welcoming.

We had an amazing week long stay at Rose Cottage and would definitely return!

The cottage itself was lovely, with gorgeous views and all the amenities we needed for a more than comfortable stay. We ended up visiting all of the places Sharon recommended by email and were not disappointed, the cottage was a great location for us to do as many things as possible without having to drive too far. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a country break.

Rose cottage was lovely, the owner Sharon was very friendly and extremely helpful.

The cottage was lovely and clean.

We had no hesitation in booking this cottage for a second visit as we had been impressed by its cleanliness and the attention to detail of the fittings and facilities on offer.

We were delighted to find that it was just as wonderful this time. Sharon had contacted us with very detailed guidance and advice about our stay and was extremely helpful. It may not be the first place you think of for a holiday but we had great days out walking, visiting bookshops and exploring beautiful gardens and there is a lot on offer for all ages. It’s also a wonderful place to just sit back and relax in the garden (and space to be more active if you must) with the most stunning view over the valley. We also enjoyed meals in the conservatory with the same view and enjoyed watching the antics of the sheep, rabbits and birds in the fields beyond!

The cottage was beautiful, clean well presented and a wonderful find.

Have already recommended it to others. Great location as you are not to far from some lovely places to explore. The Sun Inn that was recommended was as good as advertised, lovely local with great food.

Beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings.

My 1 year old absolutely loved waking up to the "baa's" (sheep) in the fields each morning. Cottage was exceptionally clean and warm on arrival. We stayed here for the weekend whilst attending my brothers wedding at Whitney Court, which was less than 2 miles away from the cottage. My only very small recommendation would be for an upgrade on the ironing board. The boys shirts got creased in transit and when I went to use the ironing board it left one sleeve quite badly marked due to not much padding on the board. We live just 30 minutes from the cottage and know the area well so didn't actually do any sight seeing as such, but I would highly recommend Rose cottage and wouldn't hesitate in rebooking should the opportunity arrise.

Fantastic cottage.

Home from home! Absolutely everything you could want. Would thoroughly recommend. Will definitely go back

A superb house

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Very clean and excellent facilities. Would definitely stay again.

Rose Cottage at Winforton is a beautifully appointed house with all you need for your comfort and enjoyment.

The views from the dining room were captavating . We could not take our eyes off the red kites, lambs and rabbits. All in all a great spot for visiting Hay on Wye and the National Trust properties nearby including Weir Gardens with great walks by the river. Fabulous Holiday,. lovely Cottage what's not to love.

Rose Cottage is an exceptional property All three bedrooms are spacious and clean, equally the bathrooms The Kitchen/ Dinning area perfectly adequate for 6 occupants, the Appliances / Cutlery and Tableware all more than satisfactory Easy access on arrival No hesitation on recommending this property

Lovely, clean, well-equipped cottage with great facilities.

Amazing views from the back of the house.

Beautiful house is a lovely location, the house is very well equipped.

We loved watching the sheep and lambs from the conservatory each morning.

Rose Cottage is a beautiful place to stay.

In rural surroundings and beautifully equipped and clean. The property overlooks rolling hills and countryside and is quite idyllic. It was nice to be able to see the stars in the evening due to the little light pollution. On the day we arrived there was a burst water main in another village causing the loss of water, this is obviously an unforeseen event - beyond the owners control, that said the cottage owner met us on arrival to explain the problem and to provide us with plenty of bottled water to tide us over. We would not hesitate in recommending this property and would not be surprised if we return.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location.

Very comfortable and clean and everything you'd expect from a holiday cottage. Cake, tea and milk on arrival very welcome. Only criticism is that the bedrooms lacked mirrors so for a girls weekend it was a bit of an issue. Otherwise would highly recommend the place and would definitely return. 10/10.

Rose Cottage was fabulous, everything you needed for a relaxing weekend away.

The beds were very comfy and the kitchen was very well stocked with utensils. The gift of a small hamper on arrival just confirmed the standard of the cottage. Would recommend this again. All arrangements were very well timed. I will be using Sykes cottages again as my experience with them on both occasions was great. Hassle free and efficient .

Sharon was brilliant at communicating with us before and during the holiday.

We loved the peace and quiet of Rose Cottage even though it was close to a main road we didn't hear any traffic while in the house and even outside it didn't bother us. The views were beautiful, it was very hard to tear ourselves away from them!

Everything about the cottage was excellent.

All facilities were top quality and complete. The fit out of the kitchen, two bathrooms and cloakroom was "as new". The cottage was like new throughout and all equipment were good quality. We would recommend this cottage to any of our friends and family.

The cottage was everything we hoped for and more - carefully put together, beautifully designed and very comfortable.

Also the location was perfect.

Rose Cottage is a lovely cottage.

So comfortable and spotlessly clean. It is obvious that the owner has taken great care over the property. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage or book again when in the area. One of the best cottages we've stayed in for sure.

The cottage was lovely.

Fantastic views from the rear conservatory and garden and it had everything we needed for our break. Clean, comfortable and the addition of the welcome basket and introductory email were thoughtful and helpful touches. My only observation would be that it seemed smaller than in the pictures. Fine for us, but I would think a large party would find the lounge in particular very cosy!

Rose Cottage is simply outstanding.

Located in the quiet village of Winforton, just 12 miles from the large town of Hereford Rose cottage is ideally positioned to allow easy exploration of the surrounding area. Whether that be a trip to the Brecon Beacon National Park, retail therapy in the town of Hereford or just simply exploring the surrounding villages, Rose Cottage offers the ideal base from which to do it all. The cottage itself easily accommodated both myself and my wife along with our three children, in extreme comfort. From the moment you drive up to the flower edged driveway Rose cottage captivates you and gets your holiday off to a great start. The facilities within the cottage itself; underfloor heating, fully serviced kitchen and separate laundry room, three large bedrooms (one en-suite), one toilet downstairs and one upstairs with separate shower and bath, spacious living room and diner come conservatory give you that home from home feeling. Rose Cottage is exactly as advertised and is fully maintained to a 5 star standard, with cleanliness to match. I can't recommend Rose Cottage enough, delightful stay and would definitely use again in the future.

Rose Cottage was amazing.

Lovely house and garden, great views, great location. we would definitely recommend to anyone.

The property was very nicely presented and the owners provided a welcome pack of goodies and put roses on the table which were lovely touches.

The e mails from the owner beforehand were very informative too. Only slight issue was no EE phone coverage at all- not anyone’s fault at all and fortunately the WiFi was good.

Rose Cottage is ideal if you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

It has wonderful views and is very comfortable. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Rose Cottage is a lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful, quiet setting down a near private lane and not at all overlooked which is exactly what we were hoping for.

Views from the conservatory and garden were everything we could have wished for and we enjoyed watching the sheep trying to keep cool under the shade of the trees during the hot, sunny weather as we gazed across open farmland to the wooded ridge on the other side of the river. It would have been nice to be able to sit outside in the garden to enjoy this view but were disappointed that there was no parasol to go with the table and benches and the sun was just too hot for us. An alternative would have been garden chairs we could move to suitable shadier areas. One or two other suggestions- The provision of a non-slip shower and/or bath mat would have helped as we found the shower trays uncomfortably slippy when soapy. Although the beds were very comfortable, the pillows were all a little solid and we would have liked the option of slightly softer ones. The information on recycling was sparse so we had to guess what this council were able to take. Some instructions on using the cooker and microwave would have been useful, as well as for other appliances such as rebooting the broadband router. I had forgotten to bring my binoculars and a house pair would have meant enjoying the scenery and wildlife even more. Even so, we really enjoyed our week and would not hesitate to rebook or to recommend for anyone wanting to stay in this beatiful part of the country.

Rose Cottage was one of the best cottages that we have stayed in.

The location is very private and there are beautiful views from the back of the cottage. The cottage is on a private lane and there is no access past the cottage which made it even more private. The local pub "The Sun Inn" was very handy and was very good for food. Be aware that the phone signal on any provider in the cottage and the surrounding areas is very poor but this may be a blessing for many.

Definitely as advertised, this is simply the cleanest cottages we have ever rented.

Our only problem now is that nothing can compare. It is in a beautiful setting, it’s cozy, beautifully decorated and the owners have used quality fittings throughout. The beds are comfy and large. We cannot praise this beautiful home from home enough. We have just spent a week watching lambs frolicking in the sunshine and listening to the birds singing. There is plenty to do and lots of great places to ear out in the area.

A beautiful, comfortable cottage.

Despite the snow which restricted us for only one day during our week, we had a lovely relaxing break. We were so warm and comfortable, it was a pleasure to spend time in the cottage. The location is excellent. Great walking, lovely National Trust properties, lovely places to eat. We will definitely return, we have a lot more to do!

Absolute pleasure to stay in this immaculate holiday cottage.

Extremely comfy beds which is real delight and very well equipped, I would give it 10+. Only down side: no instructions for equipment and a few pegs in the laundry room would be appreciated.

Lovely cottage, fantastic view, and excellent facilities.

Kids loved it, as did we, and we would definitely visit again!

The cottage is beautiful and of a really high standard.

The views are wonderful allowing us to watch foxes and buzzards and much more. We enjoyed our few days break and will look forward to returning.

Had a lovely stay.

Spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Will be back again next year.

The cottage is beautiful and very clean.

The owners have provided it with many extras and a basket of goodies awaited us. The reasons we would not book again are practical. The lighting in the lounge while being modern and attractive was too poor to read comfortably. There was a beautiful dishwasher but only 6 mugs and no cups or saucers so we were constantly washing mugs while waiting to fill the dishwasher. Everything was a beautiful quality but the bath towel was so small. Heating while very modern and eco was difficult to adjust. The welcome folder was beautifully presented but we couldn’t find any instructions for appliances. The views in the cottage were excellent.

We loved the house and the surroundings.

It was nice to meet the owner, Mr. Williams And the welcoming package was a nice surprise!!!! A place to go back to in future!!!

A new traditional cottage built with quality materials and fitted out internally to a high standard.

Tastefully done and very comfortable. Enjoys open views across farmland to the south. Large expanse of lawn garden to side and rear. 1st class.

This is a fantastic cottage Having been built end of 2016.

Extremely well equipped and very comfortable. All rooms equipped to a very high standard. A huge welcome pack of food on the table as we arrived .No negatives whatsoever.. Views from the conservatory are amazing..fields and hills. Huge garden. This has got to be the best cottage we have stayed in.

Really enjoyed staying at Rose Cottage and the owner is very accommodating, even leaving a birthday cake and candles for my husband which he loved.

The cottage has everything you will require for a comfortable stay. Our grandson loved playing in the garden and watching the lambs. There are brilliant views from the conservatory, it is a peaceful location which we loved. Rose cottage is located behind another property down a small lane near the church and when entering Winforton it is the first turning on the left. Look forward to visiting again.

The owner of this beautiful house kept in regular contact with me prior to our arrival, and provided clear instruction of how to get there.

We were blown away at how beautiful this place is. We walked into a warm house as the owner switched on the fireplace for our arrival. Overall this place ticks every box. If you are looking for a place that guarantees satisfaction then this is the place for you. Get booking now!
