Bower View

Excellent property with outstanding views!

Plenty of space, spotlessly clean with everything we needed. The thoughtful welcome pack and beautiful daffodils made us really welcome. Garden is beautiful too. Sarah was very kind and responded really quickly when we had an unexpected family bereavement- thank you for everything!

This property is amazing.

We've stayed in holiday cottages for nearly 40 years and this has been the cleanest and most restful of them all. It is spacious, well equipped, comfortable and the owners are very friendly and responsive. The views from the bungalow are stunning. We had a really relaxing stay and will most certainly return.

What wonderful spacious warm cottage.

Philip and Sarah the owners where very friendly and really helpful living a stones throw way so on hand if required. The cottage is surrounded by magnificent views in a very quiet peaceful location, if it is quiet and relaxing you want this is the place for you. The cottage was spotlessly clean to a high Standard and very well appointed It was a shame we had to cut our Holiday short Thank you Sarah and Philip we will be back. Dave Elizabeth and Bailey

Peaceful and relaxing location, with the facilities, you may need.

Close locations to visit, Hay on Wye, (Book town) Market day Thursday, Flea and Antiques, Ross on WYE, has a Morrison's for shopping. Symonds Yat, City of Hereford, Cider Musuem.

Wonderful place to stay.

Set in the countryside with wonderful views. No light pollution so its perfect if you like looking at the stars.Spacious warm accommodation and very well kept.Very large garden and lovely country walks on the doorstep.Owners just a stones throw away if needed and they are lovely people.Would thoroughly recommend staying in this beautiful place.

We enjoyed a fabulous holiday staying at Bower View.

The accommodation and location was excellent. The owners were nearby if required and were very welcoming. We were left alone in private to enjoy our stay. The accommodation provided everything we needed and to a very high standard. We will definitely be returning in the near future. Sharon, David and Alfie (our little dog!)

This is our forth visit for peace and quiet and will be back again for the views .

Best holiday home we've ever stayed in.

Booked again for next year.

The house was lovely, clean comfortable and quiet.

We really enjoyed our stay and will return again.

Excellent welcome pack.

Property rather bare for our taste, missing homely touches and not one flower in the garden. A rather ugly shed spoilt the view. Very clean but inconvenient having the washing machine in a separate outbuilding, especially considering the size of the kitchen. Friendly owner, but knowing beforehand of a road closure nearing the property would have been an advantage. Without a sat nav it would be almost impossible to find the cottage by another route.

Having read previous reviews, we knew Bower View was likely to be a bit special, but we were not prepared for just how special it is.

It is a beautiful, spacious bungalow in an idyllic location. So many lovely gardens and properties to visit in the surrounding area - we did not manage to see them all. We have stayed in many holiday properties and this one has gone to the top of our list - we can't wait to return. Thank you Sarah and Philip.

A lovely, well-maintained bungalow in an ideal rural location for exploring Herefordshire.

The hard wood floors were ideal for our very hairy dog, easy to clean up! The views from Bower View were outstanding.

This was our sixth visit to Bower View, which I think says it all!

Sarah & Philip’s cottage is always spotlessly clean, with amazing views, whatever the weather. We are lucky to have found somewhere of such a high standard and my parents love it. Having somewhere we know and can rely on takes away the stress of travelling for them. I have included recommendations in previous reviews, but this time I’ll add Brobury Gardens. We visited last year and this year, enjoying a lovely lunch in the walled garden cafe both times.

Lovely stay in a very nice property.

If you want a peaceful break, with lovely walks and good views from all windows in the cottage, this is the one for you.

In the countryside, yet near lovely border towns with ancient architecture, it is a good base to discover the March area. Large cottage garden with huge patio for outside relaxing, amazing bird life, and in winter good log fires. Lots of good shopping in little individual shops, but Tesco and Asda fairly near by. Two good pubs in the village, Bower View is perfect.

Lovely comfortable and warm bungalow with beautiful views across to the Black Mountains.

Helpful owners, on hand if needed. Perfect spot for visiting Hereford and Wales. As it was harvesting time the narrow lanes were a bit of a challenge when faced with a tractor and its load but lovely to see the potatoes and apples being picked. Would recommend.

Bower View is perfect.

Well equipped to provide a very comfortable and relaxing stay in a beautiful location. It was very nice to meet you Sarah and thank you for all the added extras which helped to make our holiday extra special. We plan to return.

The property was beautifully presented, clean and comfortable.

There was plenty of equipment in the kitchen and was really a home from home. The gardens were kept simple but neat. We would probably return for a holiday despite the hamlet being very small and no facilities.

We have stayed at cottages in England,Scotland, and Wales this cottage was outstanding, everything you need was there lovely welcome pack was unreal, everything was spotless, beautiful gardens and location so peaceful will be back for sure.

Third time of visit great place to stay .

A truly lovely property which is maintained to a very high standard.

The garden has the most wonderful views and brings a large variety of wildlife into it on a daily basis. The lovely conservatory adds an extra dimension - my friend and I enjoyed relaxing there in the late afternoon, following our trips out to visit the many attractions of Herefordshire. A softer mattress in my room would have suited me better, but this is purely a personal preference. The welcome basket of goodies was most appreciated, as were the eggs and milk. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bower View and hope to visit again in future.

We have just returned home after our fourth visit to Bower View.

The cottage suits us perfectly and the garden and patio are just what we need. The hostess is welcoming and extremely helpful, keen to meet our needs and ensure we have a good holiday. We look forward to visiting again next year.

Absolutely faultless!

Beautiful bungalow in fabulous grounds. Spotlessly clean. Peaceful, abundance of wildlife in garden made for great photography. Great information pack and the welcome basket and fresh flowers was a lovely touch. Owner checked in to welcome us, told us to fill up the bird feeders. We had a lovely peaceful week and Elliedog loved the garden. Even the garden furniture was immaculately clean.

A spacious bungalow in very peaceful and beautiful rural countryside.

First time we have heard the cuckoo in years. Some excellent gardens for visitors round and about, and the ancient 'Arthur's Stone' about 20 minutes away, with glorious views of the Golden Valley. Very helpful owner available nearby.

We had a lovely week, we found the cottage very clean, spacious, perfect kitchen, with lots of storage space, the views are the best we have had in many cottages, the hosts are helpful, and the welcome pack very nice, overall a very good home, would recommend, thanks Sarah and Philip for everything.

Irene

best cottage we have stayed in brilliant views when sitting in the lovely garden close to towns and attractions if you want a nice and relaxing holiday this is the place to go it as plenty of dog walks close by

Spacious clean and comfortable, a real home from home.

Lovely quiet location with stunning views, but within easy reach of plenty of places to visit. Sarah an Philip are lovely friendly an helpful host, an the welcome pack was much appreciated. We had a very relaxing stay enjoying the beautiful countryside, an watching the birds an wildlife who frequently visited the large pleasant garden. A definitive gem in this beautiful part of Herefordshire.

Bower View has to be one of the best properties on the Sykes listings.

This is a very comfortable bungalow with great views from every window which makes it light and airy. Definitely a home from home. Sarah and Philip were the perfect hosts. The welcome pack was extremely generous. They gave us local information that was most helpful. We couldn't wish for nicer people. For those who like the peace and remoteness of the countryside, with a little of the romantic thrown in, this has to be the ideal getaway. Beautiful and well kept gardens with regular visits from a multitude of birds including Phil the Pheasant and a few rabbits as well. Lovely walks direct from the garden gate. Lots of places to visit with, of course Hereford, leave you running out of time to visit them all. Another visit has to be essential. My wife and I are already looking at next year but I won't say when unless you all rush to beat us to it.

Of the 15 holiday cottage stays I've had in the UK in the past 8 years - this is the nicest.

Perfectly clean; easily understood TV & heating; fab views; nice helpful owner just across the field.

A wonderful cottage which allows for quiet relaxation.

This is our fourth stay at Bower View, which speaks for itself.

Sarah is a sensitive and thoughtful host and the cottage is always spotless. The rooms are large and airy and everything is on one level. I take my parents, who are both in their eighties, and they particularly love the garden & conservatory. It feels like a home away from home. Locally, we’d recommend Oakchurch Farm Shop and also Timothy & Birch at Bridge Sollers, who have the most incredible cake options I have ever seen, as well as a lovely shop for mooching. At little further afield is The Kilpeck Inn, where the food has never been less than outstanding. Herefordshire is a wonderful county and this cottage is a perfect base for all it has to offer.

The cottage was immaculately clean.

The owner, Sarah, came round soon after our arrival to apologise for the broken lid on the bin in the kitchen. It didn’t present any problems. Lovely garden, although not secure, which could be a problem if you have a lively dog. No problem for our blind whippet, Ollie, fortunately, as we would always go out In a strange garden with him.

Immaculately clean, very spacious and extremely comfortable.

The welcome pack was very thoughtful.

This is a well maintained, well provisioned and spotlessly clean rental.

It's in a lovley, quiet location, surrounded by fields and hills. The owners are very attentive and accommodating. Highly recommended.

Superb!

Beautiful, spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable bungalow in a tranquil rural setting. We loved relaxing in the large garden with views of the countryside. Although the garden is not totally dog secure, we did not find it a problem with our dog. It is a dark sky area so at night the stars looked amazing. The owners, Sarah and Philip, were very friendly and helpful. We have stayed in many Sykes holiday cottages over the years and this bungalow is up there with the best. Highly recommend.

Really well presented bungalow very clean and well equipped beautiful quiet location and thoughtful welcome tray on arrival perfect for a relaxing time and stress free holiday.

Would definitely recommend for a great holiday.

We had a lovely stay at the bungalow.

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Beautiful countryside all around.

Lovely rural location even had snow

We really enjoyed our week at Bower View.

Just perfect. Cosy, warm & Amazing views. Owners were right across the field so it was really private. Sarah checked all was ok the day after we arrived. Watching the wildlife sat in conservatory was so relaxing, especially the cows coming to say hello.

Our third visit to Bower View and once again Sarah excelled herself with her personal touches and kindness.

The cottage is always spotlessly clean, is comfortable and modern, and is in a very picturesque location. It’s worth noting, particularly for a party of four adults like ourselves, that there is a very pleasant “gardener’s toilet” next to the utility room - always handy to have a spare. There’s plenty to do in the area, but it’s the perfect spot to relax in the conservatory and garden if you feel like putting your feet up. Wildlife galore & beautiful views to keep you busy, and if you’re a town-dweller, don’t miss the opportunity to star gaze in the wonderfully clear sky.

Lovely bungalow if you like nature there was plenty of it, rabbits, squirrels, birds of all sorts, cattle and the views were splendid.

. The owner was very helpful and there was also a welcome pack.

A lovely bungalow with great facilities in a peaceful rural setting.

Really enjoyed staying there.

This was a perfect cottage for lovers of the countryside, peaceful and tranquil.

The views from the cottage were outstanding. The accomodation had everything we needed for a special holiday, with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. We spent at lot of time in the conservatory where we saw birds, rabbits, squirrels and even a family of polecats. The property it set between Wales and Hereford with interesting places to visit nearby. We hope to come again soon.

We had a wonderful stay at a brilliant location.

So relaxing, surrounded by great views. We would highly recommend Bower View.

Very clean and well furnished, everything you would want was provided.

Second toilet, albeit outside, was a real bonus. Loved the conservatory which gave easy access to a lawn area at rear of property which was a real bonus for our dog. Lots of good safe walks in the local vicinity. The owner, Sarah, popped in the day after arrival just to check all was ok and no issues - much appreciated. Highly recommended and would definitely consider booking again.

Yesterday, I arrived back from our second holiday at Bower View, having been just as happy & comfortable in the cottage as last year.

It was spotlessly clean, with everything we needed. Sarah is very friendly and approachable and does a brilliant job of running this cottage. I took my parents again, who have some health and mobility issues - the cottage works perfectly for them. There is very comfortable furniture in both the garden and conservatory so they could enjoy the views no matter what the weather. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom and kitchen well-equipped and there is even a very pleasant outdoor toilet which is handy too. The cottage is in a truly rural spot but is close enough to Hereford to be able to access supermarkets when needed. There is also an excellent farm shop at Oakchurch which has everything you may need. I can’t recommend this cottage highly enough. Thank you, Sarah.

Really lovely bungalow with everything you could need supplied.

Lovely setting and big garden. Lovely area to stay

We would just like to echo the many positive reviews about this property.

We found the setting idyllic, so peaceful and tranquil, a real tonic. Bower View was spacious and very clean, the kitchen was really well equipped and fun to cook in, the bathroom was modern and the shower worked well. For those who need to work, broadband was reliable and connectivity was good. We loved the garden and the views, our dog also loved the garden! There was a great welcome tray with loads of local produce, including fresh eggs, which we really appreciated. Sarah was easy to contact and she popped in to say hello towards the end of our stay. The property feels very private and if you enjoy peace and quiet and some solitude, it would be perfect. The Welsh border and the lovely city of Hereford are both around 9 miles away. We enjoyed our stay and can't wait to stay again. Thanks Sarah and Philip.

What an amazing place we stayed there 4 nights and didn't want to leave can't wait to go back 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the bungalow we have been looking for, it’s well built, comfortable and in a really attractive location.

Very pleasant property, decently equipped and furnished, in lovely surroundings - very quiet and peaceful.

Plenty of opportunities for wide range of day trips.

This was one of the best properties we have used.

Beautiful bungalow in beautiful surroundings. Sarah had gone to great lengths to ensure everything was comfortable and a lovely welcome pack added yet another touch. Would recommend as a perfect rural holiday. Many thanks to the owners.

Great accommodation.

One of, if not the best, we’ve stayed in. Owners very helpful and welcoming. Good base with many places to visit within 30 to 45 minutes.

We had a wonderful week at Bower View.

The bungalow suited our needs perfectly. It was situated in a beautiful spot - so peaceful and restful. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. The property was spotlessly clean and really well appointed. All home comforts were provided and Sarah thoughtfully provided some local produce to try, which was a lovely touch! We'd love to visit again.

Excellent bungalow, warm and comfortable.

So quiet and peaceful, especially at night and without light pollution, wonderful view of the stars. Weather wasn’t in our favour, but with the large garden and roadside walks, we managed to exercise our dog. Sarah is a wonderful host and the local goodies left were a lovely welcome.

Wonderful host's , couldn't do enough for us

What a perfect home from home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the cottage, which is perfectly presented and so well equipped. Happy to stay again

We were so, so happy for our week in Bower View.

The cottage was just wonderful and the welcome from Sarah much appreciated. We have booked for another week in 2022.

Beautiful holiday home.

High standard of cleanliness. Sarah was very attentive. Would highly recommend this cottage. We've already booked to return in 2022 !

Lovely holiday at the bungalow which is in a nice remote quiet spot away from the world but only 14 miles from Hay on Wye and about the same to Ross on Wye and just a few miles to Hereford.

It was spotlessly clean. Beds comfortable and a lovely welcome pack awaits. The car was able to be parked off the road on the driveway and it all felt safe and secure. The property is surrounded by farmland with walks out the door. Great host who popped in to make sure all was OK.

Wonderful accommodation in a beautifully peaceful setting.

In our opinion there is nothing that needs to change.

Lovely bungalow, very clean and well equipped.

A very peaceful and rural location next to the owners farm, the friendly, inquisitive cattle were gorgeous. Plenty of places to explore, lots of lovely villages and National Trust properties to visit. Many pubs and restaurants in local towns but and evening out would require a considerable drive. We loved our relaxing week away.

The most idyllic, peaceful place to unwind and relax.

The owners,Sarah and Philip, so helpful, friendly and accommodating.

Bower View is a wonderful place.

The welcome we received was first class from the welcome phone call right through to the owner's visit to say 'hello.' The accommodation has all the latest amenities and is set in spacious grounds. It was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. We were grateful to have a car as the larger towns of Ross and Hay-One-Wye are a bit far away but this didn't matter to us. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a leisurely holiday in this beautiful part of the world.

The accommodation was extremely clean and very spacious for the whole family.

Sarah the host made us feel very welcome and the hospitality tray she left was a lovely touch. The garden was large and immaculate, suitable for dogs and children to run around and the views and peaceful atmosphere across the countryside made sitting out on the patio a restful respite after lockdown, especially with the rabbits, squirrels and the cows in the next field making an appearance.Although the bungalow is set in a rural location, Hereford itself where there are restaurants, shops and bars was close enough to drive to. There was everything in the accommodation to make your stay comfortable, relaxing, with plenty of extra touches to make this a really special holiday. I would highly recommend Bower View.

Super clean and nice cottage.

We had a very wonderful and relaxing week! Sarah is a lovely host!

I rang Sarah, the owner, with a query a couple of weeks before our visit, and she was very friendly and welcoming.

On arrival at Bower View, the property was truly spotless. I normally have a quick wipe round a cottage with antibacterial cleaner, but this wasn’t necessary. We felt comfortable and at home from the moment we arrived. I took my elderly parents and they were delighted with the cottage. By Sunday, they were already talking about their next visit! As we had temperatures of 30 degrees all week, they didn’t want to go out and about but couldn’t have been happier sitting in the garden - it has sunshine all day long they were able to find pockets of shade at all times. The outlook is wonderful and this was all they needed. It has done them the world of good. We are regular visitors to Herefordshire, a county we all love, and the cottage is well-placed for all the places we would have visited and the walks we would have done in cooler weather. I can’t recommend this cottage highly enough. It exceeded our expectations and we will certainly be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bower View.

It was spotlessly clean & everything you needed for an enjoyable holiday. I would definitely return if holidaying in this area

A lovely quiet place to relax in ,Sarah came to meet us and ask if we required anything, a lovely selection of gifts on arrival, the eggs were so good and fresh that were given , the daily visit from the cattle was a treat our dog loved them , would definitely stay again if we picked this area to stop in

We had a lovely week, the weather was warm all week and the bungalow Was light and bright and everything was there for us.

We had lovely views all round and nice countryside to look at. Sarah called on us one day and offered us anything we needed, but she already gave us all the bits we needed. It gave us a really relaxing break which we needed as I had just come off a month of radiotherapy and was tired.

The stunning views from the property really highlight the beautiful Herefordshire countryside with cuckoos calling, owls hooting and the sound of cows munching in the field next door.

Fantastic

Bower View is in a really peaceful setting with lovely views.

The property has a lovely garden and views over to the hills. We would certainly love to come back and do some more walks.

First class accommodation in a beautifully remote and tranquil setting.

Hi hat was ideally located for all amenities. Bower view has everything you need and more to ensure a comfortable stay. We were out Fishing all day but looked forward to returning so we could spend some time relaxing in the lovely conservatory before going to Bed and having a wonderfully peaceful sleep, in fact my bed was even more comfortable than the one I have at Home! The welcome goodies were a very thoughtful touch a I can’t wait to return for another visit. Look forward to returning to the stunningly beautiful Herefordshire countryside as soon as we can. Regards. Vic

Measures that were put in were excellent and we felt safe and comfortable.

Directions were good and reminders about key collection very useful. A very welcoming and conscientious host.

Excellent cottage in quiet, central position.

The cottage was very comfortable, fully equipped and had beautiful countryside views. On arrival there was a lovely welcome pack of local foods. Sarah ( owner) popped in to see if everything ok. This is one of the nicest properties we have stayed in. Would definitely recommend.

Tranquil location, comfortable property with privacy in a beautiful environment.

Delighted to see an owner who uses a top and bottom sheet! Would highly recommend booking this property.

The owner was really helpful in regards to ensuring my mother's health needs were met.

The bungalow was beautifully decorated for Christmas and immediately felt like a home from home. Instructions were clear and helpful hints were in the kitchen for the 'hidden' cutlery draw. Fantastic stay, the parents are booking again in the future

Bower View is an absolute gem.

The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. The property has everything we needed for our break. The Views are amazing and although only 15 Mins from Hereford it seems like your a world away from the rat race. I will definitely be back.

Even better than the brochure photos!

Appreciated the visit by the landlady first evening.

Although we were unlucky with the weather during our week's holiday at Bower View, the standard of comfort and facilities provided, meant staying in was not a issue.

The warm & bright conservatory with comfortable furniture and views across the fields and valley, was the icing on the cake. The location is excellent for a quiet and relaxing break, not too far off the beaten track and within easy driving distance to many places of interest. Our hosts were very welcoming and available if we needed them, we especially appreciated the generous 'welcome tray' with local goodies. We could find no fault with anything and can give only positive feed back. The addition of some maps and information on local walks may be helpful to future guests. There is so much still we would like to see and hope to return next year. Well done Sarah & Phillip

The cottage was everything and more.

The bungalow, location and surroundings were perfect for a relaxing family holiday.

Bower View is the perfect getaway for those seeking a break from the rat race.

You can't put a price on Bower View's position, surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside.Peace, quiet and solitude in abundance. Sarah and Philip the owners are also only a short walk from the property and are always on hand.

Additional ' touches' eg Welcome tray ' , perfumed sachets in wardrobes , sufficient hangers in wardrobes , clear instructions re appliances , bins , good quality towels - all added to the enjoyment of a spacious , good quality bungalow and contents .

Bower View was a little gem.

Extensively refurbished bungalow in beautiful Herefordshire countryside. Very peaceful and relaxing stay.

The cottage has recently been refurbished so all the appliances and the furnishings were new.

In some holiday cottages things looked tired. Not here, it was a pleasure to enjoy everything was pristine, the bedding was beautiful the whole cottage was spotlessly clean, the welcome treats were great. This is really a 5 star holiday home
