Granary 2

The Granary (2) was a delightful and comfortable place.

Well positioned to discover Herefordshire, the Forest of Dean, the Brecon mountains. Plenty of good walks and a couple of friendly pubs nearby. The host, Jonathon, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. When we arrived, there was a basket of fruit which was a unique and delicious welcome… as were the biscuits! Seemingly hidden away and yet surprisingly just a short walk away from the village via discreet footpaths, so no walking on main roads. There were plenty of visitor attraction leaflets to scan through but no information handbook on where to get fuel, or the nearest shop or pub numbers, but the Wi-Fi was good and for not things are host was on hand to help out. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and would recommend the accommodation and the area for people and dogs to explore.

Great stay, large basket of fruit provided, great value for money, comfortable bed in my opinion though tastes differ of course.

Convenient for Hereford with regular buses, Black Mountains close by, plenty to see.

We had a perfect stay at Granary 2.

We were very cosy and comfortable. The location was peaceful but close to the village shop and pub and very convenient for visiting Hereford and the surrounding area. The owner was friendly and helpful and the welcome gift of food and roses was much appreciated. I would recommend to anyone visiting the Herefordshire area.

Cosy and comfortable stay.

Lovely to have milk and fruit/snacks provided. Thank you.

This was a last minute booking but it was easy to arrange.

We were met by the pleasant owner who made us feel very welcome. The property is ideal for a couple wanting a quiet getaway in the pleasant village of Madley, but is a quick drive into Hereford or the lovely surrounding area. I would stay here again.

Location is lovely and apartment is spacious.

Listing needs to make it clear that there is no washing machine - it doesn’t say there is but these days it’s a pretty standard item so it didn’t actually occur to me that there wouldn’t be one. Building is old with loads of beams so a bit spidery! Really need a dustpan and brush to go with the broom.

Lovely cottage, very well presented and equipped.

Owner introduced himself, made us feel very welcome. We were blessed with lovely weather during our stay.

We have been a number of times now and would highly recommend Granary 2.

Can't wait to return a fabulous place to stay.

The cottage was great, very clean & comfortable.

Warm welcome from Jonathan on arrival. Flowers, fruit & a basket with snacks in & milk in the fridge, all the times we have booked cottages with Sykes we have never had anything left like that before. Only let down we had was the garden next to the cottage was very overgrown with weeds, there was a table & chairs for you to sit on but the weeds / grass was higher than them so this area we could not use.

Perfect.

The property was very comfortable and provided an excellent base to explore the many walks and sights of the area.

The cottage was warm and facilities were good and the basket of goodies and flowers was a very nice touch. Some additional items for the kitchen such as a few more sauce pans, frying pan and maybe a cafetiere would add that extra touch but are certainly not deal breakers. We had a lovely time and the host was extremely helpful and welcoming

Pleasant stay in well appointed accommodation.

The host Johnathon was friendly and accommodating, the welcome hamper provided was a nice touch. Granary 2 was clean warm and cosy however the access and surrounding grounds can get a bit difficult to navigate in bad wet conditions (but no one can control the weather) overall a lovely place to stay for business or pleasure and I’m sure I will return.

The cottage was very comfortable, clean and warm.

The property had a garden area for the dogs.

We loved our stay at Granary 2.

It was clean, bright and airy, and had everything we needed. A comfortable base to explore the surrounding area. Lots of footpaths accessible from the accommodation too. The owner was friendly, thoughtful and helpful. Nice to have access to the lawn for the dog and baby to crawl around on. Would recommend.

A lovely place to stay, very ideal for our needs (we have family in the area) very comfortable with a very lovely welcome hamper as well.

We would highly recommend this cottage/apartment to anyone. Easy access to many different areas of Hereford to visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at the property.

It was clean & tidy with everything needed for our stay. Great location for exploring the area & welcome basket provided by the owners was a lovely touch & much appreciated.

We had an amazing time at the granary.

The welcome basket was such a lovely surprise. Perfect location for exploring the area

Lovely property and friendly, interesting owner.

Ideal location for us with having dogs, though over winter the walks are muddy. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Only negative is the Sykes app wouldn't allow me to send a message prior to our arrival to say we'd be arriving late.

Lovely stay.

Property was just as described. We were extremely delighted with the hamper of goodies left by the owners - much appreciated! Fantastic area to explore. Just wish we had had a few more days there. Thank you.

We were very pleased with the cottage.

We were visiting the area to join in a family golden wedding celebration, and the cottage provided us with a very pleasant, clean and comfortable base for that - in fact, all we could possibly want. The 'goodies' provided (bread, milk, biscuits, chocolate, fruit, flowers) were generous and very welcome. The bed was comfortable. As it happens the ground floor flat was unoccupied during our stay. I imagine it might be possible to have noisy holiday-making neighbours, but we had a lovely quiet stay. Our one query was whether it might be possible to fit a security light to provide light for the outside stairs? There is a light, but the switch is indoors. Overall, a very pleasant stay - thank you to the owners of this cottage!

Very quiet location and the welcome basket and flowers on arrival was lovely.

In terms of improvements going forward I’d suggest they remove the bath and fit a standalone shower unit, that will remove issue with the leaks from shower over bath and also look to fit shaver socket in Bathroom for toothbrushes etc.

A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous location, can't fault anything.

The place was spotless, credit to the lady who cleans it with such care, and the owner was lovely, left us in peace to enjoy our holiday, whilst making it clear he would help with anything we wanted. Ten out of ten, it was perfect for us.

Lovely and quiet place to stay.

Been very relaxed there. So much to see around as well.

The cottage was very comfortable and well positioned.

An excellent welcome with hamper. However, the kitchen needs better and more equipment. There is no coffee machine as advertised.

Absolutely loved staying at the Granary 2, extremely clean and well equipped.

Our 2 doggies loved the enclosed garden area , its so calm and peaceful...just beautiful Jonathan and kate gave us a very warm welcome , with lots of recommendations of places to explore in the area . Will definitely be back

Lovely first floor barn conversion with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Friendly and welcoming hosts with nothing too much trouble. All in all a great value for money stay....

Lovley property, just what we needed comfy warm place to come back to after a day hiking in the brecon beacons.

Added bonus being able to see the lovley lambs in the yard.

Very nice comfortable little cottage, kept very clean and with all the facilities you’d want in a one bedder.

Incredibly warm (must be those thick walls and/or excellent insulation) so our new year break was very cozy, and while a log burner might be some peoples preference, you definitely dont need an open fire here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Granary 2.

Jonathan and Kate have done this holiday Appartement very well. It provides everything you need and the special extras were really thoughtful. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and they had provided us with bread , milk, fruit, chocolate, biscuits , Crisps and a lovely bunch of Roses on the table!. We throughly enjoyed our stay and hope to book this holiday home again.

Granary 2 was in a good location to explore the surrounding areas, The hosts were very friendly and gave you a warm welcome, they left us a lovely hamper of goodies even Kai our dog had treats.

It was clean and comfortable and very dog friendly, all you could need for a perfect holiday with your pooch.

A fantastic cottage, spotlessly clean and really friendly owners

I had a lovely stay with my dog, Basil.

The apartment was clean and very comfortable and in a lovely location. Super nice touches of fruit, flowers and a welcome basket were really appreciated and the hosts were lovely and laid back. I had a really relaxing time and hope to be able to visit again in the future.

Had a really good week in Granary 2.

It's clean and spacious, with comfy bed, good wifi, plenty of hot water, easy parking, good outside space to enjoy a drink in the evening. Short stroll into the village where there's a small Londis shop, and pub. Lots of stuff to do in the area, lovely countryside around, and Hereford is an easy drive, about 7 miles. Jonathan and Kate are friendly helpful hosts - would be more than happy to book it again.

Fabulous accommodation, comfy and absolutely pristine didn't want to go home.

There were beautiful flowers, a large bowl of fruit and a basket with lots of goodies in it. Kate and Jonathon were really welcoming and friendly and will definitely be going back there in the near future.

Granary 2 is clean, comfortable, spacious and very quiet.

A perfect base for exploring Herefordshire and the Wye Valley. There is a pub and a shop in the village. Jonathan was very welcoming and happy to recommend places to visit in the area.

Fantastic place to stay made to feel very welcome!

Lovely clean cottage so relaxing great for the dog and owners Kate and Johnathan great host very friendly and helpful, we will return.

Well equipped, with many thoughtful features and in a very good location.

We had a lovely time.

Lovely place with great hosts Flowers and goodie hamper a nice touch

Really lovely stay!

We loved the peace and quiet and the warm welcome we had from Jonathan! We will be booking again. Great location, great value for money. If we had to improve anything about it I think it would just be having some salt and pepper available as we didn’t even think to bring and also the knifes we’re too blunt to use but these are really minute things and when we come again we will just bring our own.

We had a super few days at the cottage which was very comfortable and cosy and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming .

We will definitely be returning for another break away .

A wonderful stay.

The welcome hamper was amazing. Everything worked perfectly. Unfortunately I was not able to say good bye to the owners. Please thank them for a brilliant stay

The accommodation was very clean and well presented, in a lovely quiet location.

The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and provided a delightful welcome hamper. Enjoyed lots of local walks and it was also convenient for walks in the Brecon Beacons. Very friendly local pub just 10 minutes walk away.

The accommodation was fabulous, spotless in all rooms, lovely fresh bedding and towels and fab welcome hamper.

There is a great area to give your pooch a run. The owners are very friendly. If there is a downside, it’s that the local pub, 10 mins walk away is very dated and not great quality food (though it is cheap), however the fish and chip shop is good. In the summer or warmer months the property would be ideal for outside cooking and eating.

Very clean and comfortable property.

Lovely welcome from friendly owners. Enjoyed exploring local footpaths as well as Hereford, Ludlow, Hay on Wye and other interesting locations during a week of wonderful Autumn sunshine! Thank you for a great holiday!

Granary 2 was lovely.

Kate and Jonathan were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us, they were brilliant hosts! We would highly recommend this property to anyone as we had a fantastic stay.

The accommodation was lovely with ample space & facilities.

Received a lovely welcome hamper. Milk, coffee & tea were all provided. Great location & lots to do in the area. The owner was very friendly & helpful,

We had a wonderful time in 'Granary 2'.

It is a lovely, quiet location which is well-positioned for trips around the attractions in Herefordshire, along the Wye valley and in Wales. There was lots of information provided in the property on local attractions and walks. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and their welcome was warm. A special thank you to Kate for the welcome basket of goodies and to Jonathan for allowing us to pick some fruit from the trees in his orchard. We'll definitely be booking again and have already been recommending the cottage to our friends. Thank you for a lovely week!

Granary 1 & 2 were perfect for our holiday with my parents.

A stylish renovation providing comfortable and well-equipped accommodation. Lovely spacious garden, complete with furniture and fire pit. Kate and Jonathan (and animals!) made us feel so welcome, and we really appreciated the thoughtful welcome hamper. A peaceful location in a beautiful part of the world. Plenty of scenic and interesting places to visit on the doorstep and further afield. Highly recommended!

Hi the cottage was lovely, there was a fantastic welcome basket and the hostess was lovely.

Only thing that would improve it would be a washing machine and a slightly bigger gap between the bed and the wardrobe but that’s splitting hairs.

The hosts of this property were welcoming and ensured that we had everything we needed for our stay.

We would definitely book the Granary again

Granary 2 is beautifully presented, spotless, and owners have given great thought to what will make stay there the most comfortable with touches such as welcome provisions which were such a help when arriving quite late in evening.

Perfect place for dogs as there are so many good places to walk nearby. Strongly recommend.

Excellent accommodation, with friendly hosts, in a beautiful part of Herefordshire.

Plenty to see nearby or further afield.

A lovely, comfortable apartment beautifully clean and well furnished.

The granary was very well maintained clean and every thing provided for our stay, it was warm and quite a relaxing week and with two dogs to pleas the garden was great they had a great time, Katy & Jonathan all so gave us a lovely welcome basket of goodies and a bowl of fruit and was much appreciated.

So we would be pleased to recommend the Granary as we had a lovely time and so great to find a place that dogs are so welcome. Jacky & Phil Wheeldon,( Peggy & Floyd ) the dogs,

Lovely accommodation, set in a peaceful location.

Very clean light and airy. Kate and Jonathan are friendly hosts with welcome basket for humans and dog, first class

The Granary was nothing short of brilliant, the owners left a welcome hamper and really nice touches such as flowers and milk in the fridge.

The area was really nice and it’s a short drive to Hereford which is a beautiful city. I can’t recommend this cottage let more highly and am considering booking again soon. Thank you Mike

A lovely little bolthole and base to explore the Herefordshire countryside and beyond, where there is plenty to keep you occupied.

Clean, comfortable with everything you need....if you do need anything else the owners are only a shout away and on hand to help out with a warm welcome at the start. Very accommodating thank you Bring a torch if you fancy a walk to the village pub but it can be done (about half a mile)! We have had a lovely week and would certainly stay again of in the area. Enjoy your stay

The place was beautiful and very clean.

Absolutely loved our stay here at the Granary, we have already thought about booking again. The owners were lovely and very approachable. They were really friendly and easy to talk to, they always encouraged us to ask them if we needed anything.

As a dog owner the fenced paddock at the side of the Granary was an added bonus as the dog was safe and we didn't need to take her out on a lead for the last walk at night.

We also sat outside in the paddock in the sunshine in the afternoons. Overall we were very pleased with the accommodation, the high quality of the furnishings and the friendly welcome. We would definitely recommend the Granary to friends.

A very warm welcome from Jonathan and Kate awaits you here at their stunning Granary accommodation.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped for your holiday, located in a tranquil setting in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside. Very highly recommended.

We had a lush few days at the granary!

The owners were so friendly and welcoming, we even had a nice welcome basket with some goodies in! It was so relaxing and peaceful there! We will defo be returning but with our dog next time!

Fantastic home from home.

Spacious and so comfortable. All the facilities you need in a lovely bright light and very clean accommodation. The welcome package was so generous. Even treats for the dog. A great location with walks on door step or near to Hereford and Hay-on-Wye too. A great choice

We really enjoyed every second of our stay at the Granary.

The hosts were really welcoming and accomodating. We took our little boy and he particularly enjoyed running around the gardens and the fields, he also loved meeting the chickens and the ducks. It was a peaceful retreat after a difficult time in lockdown and we would recommend the place to anyone wanting a rural getaway.

Lovely cottage very comfortable and well equipped.

The owners Jonathan and Kate are very friendly and helpful. Kate even made me a cake for my birthday

Lovely accommodation well located for a relaxing break.

Great touch with welcome basket. Could add a broom and some good instant coffee?

Very hospitable, lovely hosts.

We were welcomed with a lovely basket of items, dairy basics in the fridge and fresh flowers.

Also had a warm welcome from the couple and during our stay.

Absolutely wonderful host who went the extra mile, very kindly lifted us to Hay-on-Wye for the day and rescued me in the rain on Saturday night.

Thanks Kate, you made the stay real magic. From the beautiful hamper & fresh flowers that greeted us to the lift to the station and goodbye I’ve never felt so welcome staying away from home. Will definitely recommend and be back. A lovely holiday apartment and so beautifully decorated and kept by somebody who clearly has a real passion for excellence...and it shows.

We had a lovely time and the owners were lovely too .

We arrived a little later on the Friday but was welcomed warmly plus extra treats in the cottage were a great touch . We took our dog beau who loved the gardens . We will defo go back x

Very warm welcome from owners Kate and Jonathan

The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise.

Well equipped, comfortable and homely. Highly recommend. Our hosts were very welcoming and happy to recommend places to visit.

The hosts were extremely welcoming.

Everything about the stay in Granary2 was perfect for us. The welcome basket, flowers, fruit bowl, home baked cakes and much much more. Better than a luxury hotel! More importantly the dog had everything she needed including a pond to swim in. Full marks to Kate and Jonathon.

Really lovely area and flat was lovely and comfy.

Kate and Jonathon were so helpful and could do enough to help, would highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with beautiful views.

firstly please note that the field next to the cottage is no longer cut back it's overgrown and not very pleasant to sit in.

the pound is more like a swamp and it's full of spiders and bugs. the fence has gaps in so small dogs can get out if they want to. the bath is very slim so you can't relax and the shower had kept coming off and hit me in the face one time. the bed was a bit small and not as comfy as I'd like. only one sofa so mot much room to sit. no washing machine dishwasher etc. TV small and sound has terrible. the place is built on top of anther cottage so you have to be social all the time. owners house on top of yours so be prepared for busy farm work on ur door step. owners are friendly and the surrounding areas are nice. if you want a basic stay with other people below you and overgrown grounds then it will be fine. if you like peace space and luxury then it's not for you.

The accommodation was just perfect for the wife and myself and our 2 labradors.

A great area to visit many places but lovely and quiet at the Granary 2. You are are made extremely welcome from whe you arrive with some extra welcoming touches in Granary 2. I will be recommending this to our family and friends. Grant and Nicola, Thornbury

Absolutely immaculate modern conversion with original features, this was a stunning place to stay beautiful Hereford.

The property: Wonderful top level apartment, with bathroom (bath, shower & heated towel rail), bedroom (Twin bed) and large Kitchen/lounge. We were delighted to receive a gift basket upon our arrival (Bread, bree, biscuits, chocolate, etc..) and even more delighted with the owners Kate and Jonathan who were so friendly and engaging, they made us feel special. They also dropped us off a home made Bara Brith (not usually a fan but this was amazing) and even made the literal best chocolate brownies ever for me wife's birthday. They were also great to just have a chat with. Kitchen has an eclectic HOB/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and also a coffee machine (they even supplied a number of pods). Plenty of cutlery for use. The building has some of its original features, which was nice, it did a get a little hot in there however there was ample ventilation one we worked out how to open the roof windows. Although the grounds the building is on contain another holiday home below it and the owners home next door there is plenty of space, specifically a sizeable grassed area at the back of the cottage overlooking a pond with a BBQ pit and benches, table, we ate outside on 3 times during our week in this area. You will definitely need a car to get about however the driving is quite pleasant (during the daytime). Things to do: There isn't much in the local area, two pubs, a shop, a takeaway and a surprisingly large church. If you fancy good food and more to do visit Hay-on-Wye which is about 20 minutes away by car - lovely town with great sites, restaurants, market and walks (particularly the river walk - just make sure you take the time to visit the warren for a quick dip). You can visit Hereford if you fancy the hustle & bustle of a small city - pubs, cinema, restaurants a lot of shops. There are a lot of national trust sites nearby. Overall an amazing stay in an amazing place with amazing hosts with lots of things to do.

We loved the Granary.

It was the perfect location for a peaceful, stress free break. The open plan layout of the apartment was simple, stylish and comfortable, with everything you need and nothing that you don't. Kate the owner, left us a lovely welcome hamper with some lovely goodies and a few basic essentials which was greatly appreciated. The surrounding area is beautiful, with some stunning countryside right on the doorstep. There is a local pub, just 10 mins walk away in Madley and it is so welcoming and friendly with great quality pub grub, we ended up going nearly every night! All in all the Granary is the perfect stay for those who want a quiet, calm and relaxing stay.

We stayed at Granary 2 went we went to the Hay festival.

The journey to Hay takes approximately 30 minutes along a pretty B road and then it's a five minute transfer to the festival site by shuttle bus - all very easy. Granary 2 was a lovely place to relax after a busy day at the festival. It is a well equipped, comfortable and spacious property with access to an enclosed garden with a pond. There is a pub a short walk away in the village where you can eat or have a drink. Kate and Jonathan our hosts were very helpful and generous. A beautiful basket of goodies/treats and flowers was there on arrival. The surrounding area is beautiful and we would love to come back and discover more.

Granary 2 was beautifully decorated and very clean throughout.

Kate welcomed us on arrival and was very friendly and welcoming, we had a basket of goodies in the apartment and kate baked us a cake too. Totally exceeded our expectations and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Perfect, tranquil cottage, amazing hosts who went above and beyond for us, lovely few days in the countryside.

Superb accommodation and the owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

Great area for dogs with lots of local walks. The local pub provided us with a really nice Sunday Roast even though they don’t normally do Sunday Lunches and we were the only two people eating!

Kate and Jonathan were wonderful hosts and made me feel very welcome.

The goody basket and flowers were a lovely surprise and really added to a lovely experience. Granary 2 has been lovingly restored and is now a cosy and comfortable property. The location is rural with no light pollution and great wildlife but is within easy walking distance of village amenities and close to Hereford. When I visited the weather was sunny and hot so I took full advantage and sat outdoors enjoying the weather with a local cider in hand! I had a great holiday and plan to return soon.

Beautiful conversion clean warm tidy Welcome basket and flowers Hosts were extremely genuinely nice as were the locals in the Red Lion We'll be back

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the beautiful granary.

It was restored to a very high standard everything was of quality. The secure garden was great for our labradoodle , he could run free in it and could wear himself out! The owners are very friendly and helpful not intrusive, the treats for us and our dog were most welcome ,we would recommend the Granary for a quiet countryside stay. The pub in the village The Red Lion serve very good and reasonable pub grub and are also very friendly, dogs are welcome as are muddy boots. All in all it was all good

A lovely well presented farm cottage surrounded by lovely countryside.

Perfect for people who just want a relaxing break. Not a lot of stuff to do within walking distance so be prepared to drive to places. Hereford is only a short drive away so good for any essentials needed for your break.

Granary 2 is a real gem clean and comfortable everything you need for a perfect holiday.

On arrival a vase of flowers and a bowl of fruit plus a basket of goodies awaited us. The splendid hosts Kate and Jonathan really go that extra mile to make sure you are ok but are on hand if needed ,without being intrusive.we would thoroughly recommend granary 2.

Granary 2 is a beautiful one bedroomed apartment next to a farm.

Everything was fantastically clean and new. The owners were very friendly and would do anything for you. The lady even made a lovely homemade cake for us. There were two fields to exercise the dog plus a garden at the side with a pond and a fire pit. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and have a quiet relaxing holiday.

Well,I was surprised to discover that there were no shower only bath.

As I am slightly disabled I find it hard to get into a bathtub. I am used to have showers where I can stand up and it is no handle on the side of the tub as a help. Otherwise the cottage was in very good order clean and shiny! The owners Kate and Jonathan was very nice and accomodating,it is in a tranquil envorinment, silent and peaceful with nice walks around. Can recommend outings to Hay on Wye and Ross on Wye a short drive from Madley. Hereford is also a good town with some superstores and low price fuel! All in ALL it was a very good holiday for us and the dog we think it is a good place to stay in!

Fantastic accommodation, great hosts and lovely location, just what you need if you want to relax and get away.

The owners have made us feel very welcome and added to our stay. Dogs were welcomed with bag of doggie treats and we got a delicious home baked fruit cake. Would definitely recommend, you may even find a four leaf clover in the garden. We found 3!!!
