    “We very much enjoyed our stay in this well equipped, spacious and comfortable cottage.”

    Perfect location for visiting a number of National Trust properties. The owner was friendly and helpful and there was a generous welcome pack on arrival. We also enjoyed the local walks in and around Mere and The Walnut Tree served great pub grub.

A delightful country town of old stone cottages set in a stunning conservation area, on the borders of Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset. This small, lively community is well served by a good variety of local shops and ancient inns, with much of the area to the north of the town designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ideal for walking and taking in the breathtaking views, the town is also well placed for exploring numerous National Trust attractions and historic houses. A visit to stunning Stourhead House and gardens, only 2 miles away, is not to be missed, while Longleat House and the ancient hilltop town of Shaftesbury featured in the Hovis adverts, are also close by. Stonehenge, Wilton House, Salisbury and the Dorset coast are all easily accessible by car, providing much to see and do for a variety of tastes.
