Historically a market town, with monthly markets still held in the centre of the settlement, Deddington is best known as being one of three locations, along with Hempton and Clifton, that reside on the ridge the Jurassic ferruginous marlstone hills between the River Cherwell, River Swere, and the Sowbrook.
