    “A superb cottage with the added enjoyment of a fabulous garden complete with pond and fountain.”

    Varied wildlife spotted in the garden which included a Kingfisher, Woodpecker, Hedgehog, Pheasants plus many small birds which was absolutely delightful. We have enjoyed our second visit to Lower Court Byre and look forward to revisiting in the future.

An enchanting detached cottage, very privately nestled into truly endearing gardens, on the owner’s farm, close to Lingen, Herefordshire.

This homely cottage is a perfect tranquil retreat, with lots of space inside and out, perfect for families or groups of friends looking to relax in a traditional house with beautiful gardens.

Set over two floors, there are two comfortable bedrooms with a family bathroom.

There is a well- equipped kitchen with breakfast area, leading out into a traditional porch with seating, perfect to enjoy a morning cup of coffee.

There is a spacious sitting room with open fire, adjacent to the dining area, and additional comfy seating in the conservatory.

Outside, you can sit in the beautifully-landscaped mature gardens or meander around the lawned pathways and stop awhile on the little bridge, overlooking the impressive fountain, and maybe catch a glimpse of the resident moorhen.

Alternatively, sit and enjoy a glass of something cool in the enclosed courtyard garden adjacent to the conservatory.

This garden is a real jewel and you may find it difficult to leave.

Surrounded by the owner’s farm, the cottage gives you the wonderful opportunity to explore the area and perhaps walk up to the local viewpoint, known as the Top-a-Scope, or enjoy the owner’s stretch of the River Lugg.

You are ideally placed to explore a selection of National Trust properties, such as Croft Castle and Parkland, giving you a glimpse of the past, and surrounded by fabulous gardens.

Alternatively, visit Berrington Hall and enjoy the grandeur, wandering through one of Capability Brown’s final landscapes.

The area offers numerous outdoor activities such as cycling, riding, go-karting or perhaps a flying lesson.

For walkers, this cottage sits on the Herefordshire Trail, a popular 150-mile route taking in spectacular countryside, which can be walked in small sections at a time.

Why not take time out to explore the Black and White Village Trail, where you can experience exquisite English villages and their ancient medieval timber-framed buildings?

There is so much to enjoy in the area, however, slightly further afield is Leominster where you can enjoy browsing in the antique shops, cafes and a variety of smaller shops, perfect for a lazy afternoon.

For a change, head off for a day in the cathedral city of Hereford, which is on the River Wye, a perfect place to start exploring the Wye Valley.

A fabulous opportunity to relax in an idyllic cottage, overlooking a pretty rambling garden, providing a real retreat, and ideal for family and friends to spend time together in traditional surroundings, yet being close to a selection of pretty towns, villages and days out.

The ancient village of Lingen, mentioned in the Domesday Book, lies on wooded Herefordshire Hills in the Welsh Marches and is surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside. The historic small town of Presteigne, known as The Gateway to Mid Wales, is only 5 miles away and boasts the award-winning attraction 'The Judge's Lodging' as well as a range of pubs, restaurants and local shops. Presteigne is a local culture centre and plays host to art and music festivals throughout the year. Explore the Mortimer Trail, Offa’s Dyke, the lovely walks up to Wigmore Castle, Croft Ambrey and the quiet valleys of the Lugg, Teme and Clun. Visit the market town of Hay-on-Wye, often described as “the town of books”, the ancient city of Hereford with its impressive Norman cathedral, Leominster and its renowned antique shops, and discover Britain's loveliest medieval town, Ludlow with its 13th century castle, riverside walks and famous food and cultural festivals.
