we had a wonderful time at the herons,it is in such a peaceful spot on the River Wye, this was our third visit,it had everything you need clean and comfortable its home from home,as for the owner Denise she is a gem so helpful and friendly,will definitely be going back.

We've already booked to return next year. Denise welcomed us warmly and had clearly spared no effort to ensure our stay was happy and comfortable. Everything was perfect with the accommodation.

Denise, the host, could not have been more helpful and accommodating, from enabling early check in to providing lighter bedding during the exceptionally warm weather. Herons had everything one could need for a perfect stay, in a perfect location and I cannot recommend it highly enough

Having been to Herons several times.

we always find it to be very clean, comfortable and well equipt. Denise the owner is always helpful and freindly. There is also a welcome pack on arrival which is much appriciated. Herefordshire is such a lovely place to visit as there is so much do and see. Thank you for your hospitality and help Denise.

We had a great break.

Our hostess was most helpful and explained everything in the property on our arrival. The property is extremely well equipped. The view from the living room is spectacular. We had a really relaxing break and found no fault.

It is very comfortable and well equipped and is in a beautiful location.

We enjoyed our stay at Herons very much,the only thing I would mention is about the towels,they are too small for guests,should be bath sheets,otherwise everything was good.

We met Denise when we arrived and she was very welcoming.

The flat was spotless and very comfortable as was the bed. The views of the garden and the river were fabulous. The fishing was great. Heron cottage is ideally situated as it is so close to the River Wye for the benefit of anglers and also well situated to tour the surrounding areas.

The cottage itself it well appointed, cosy and comfortable. The owner is always on hand when help or information on the local area is needed. This is a place where visitors tend to return again and again.

A lovely place to stay.

Peaceful surroundings with beautiful views down the garden to the River Wye and the hills in the distance with fishing possible at a small extra fee. Denise, the owner, very friendly and helpful. Lots of places to visit all around the area and the main city of Hereford, with numerous shops, supermarkets and restaurants etc, only 20mins drive. Highly recommended and hoping to make a return trip.

So peaceful and quiet with a gorgeous view. The owner Denise was very friendly and welcoming making suggestions for places to visit etc Excellent gardens to visit around Byford and lovely coffee shops also. The apartment was perfect it had everything we needed. Will be visiting again .

The property was lovely and clean cosy and comfortable.

The bed is so comfortable. Plenty of storage in the bedroom, the wardrobe is large and you can even store your case in there. The view is beautiful and it is peaceful and quiet. Thank you to Denise the owner who is helpful and so friendly and thank you for the welcome treats.

A beautiful property with everything one could possibly need.

It was all both modern and comfortable. The garden, patio and walk down to the river were stunning. It was easy to find despite being tucked away in what felt like the middle of nowhere. Denise, the owner was on hand when needed throughout my stay and was always available on the phone before and during it. I cannot recommend both her and Herons highly enough!

Denise was an excellent host - welcoming and informative- very helpful instructions for arrival at the property.

The accommodation has everything you need and more - very well appointed and bed is really comfortable. The setting is idyllic - quiet, peaceful and beautifully maintained. A perfect holiday !

A beautiful and peaceful location with lovely views of the river Wye.

This was our third stay and everything was spotlessly clean with all amenities you require. Once again Denise was very helpful and as always I enjoy our chats about gardening.

We had spent 4 nights at Herons recently.

It was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. There were lovely views of the River Wye and surrounding countryside. Herons is well situated for the Black Mountains, Brecon, Hay on Wye, Ross on Wye, the Golden Valley, Hereford and much more. Many thank to Denise for making our stay so enjoyable and for good chats about gardening, gardens etc. Hope to return for a bit longer next year.

Herons is a lovely holiday apartment on the banks of the River Wye.

There are patio doors across the whole of the front, so you’re able to have wonderful views of the river and beyond. We were fortunate to have some glorious weather while we were there, so we’re able to sit on the large patio, where there is a choice of seating. The apartment is comfortable, well furnished and equipped. Denise, the owner, lives above the apartment, so was on hand to give advice; it was particularly helpful to have directions to a car park in Hereford, which we could reach without negotiating the busy traffic in the city. Altogether, a very enjoyable holiday.

Herons was a delightful property.

Light and airy with fabulous views of the river Wye. The property was well equipped with everything we needed. The owner, Denise, met us on arrival and showed us the property and how everything worked. The welcome tray left for us was very thoughtful. We would definitely consider staying here again.

This was a return visit for us.

The property is in a fantastic local with many attractions within a reasonable distance. The accommodation is very clean, comfortable and had everything you would need for a stay. Denise was very helpful and friendly and we certainly hope to return for a third time.

A really beautiful place to stay looking down to the river.

Nothing too much trouble for the Owner. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Could not fault it.

Everything was spotless and comfortable.

We did not want to prepare a full meal for ourselves as we ate out, however it would have been a bit tight for surface space in the kitchen had we done so. It was as described but something to bear in mind. The area though is excellent for eating places and everywhere we ate was of a very high standard, reasonably priced and offered a huge variety.

Once again we had a great time at Herons in Byford we always find new and interesting places on our travels around the area the accommodation is perfect for my wife and myself with Denice (Mrs Hacker) always available to give info and advice as needed.

I fished twice in a very swollen river and on the second day caught the biggest Chub I have ever seen well over 6 pounds , great place great time we shall return.

We had another enjoyable and relaxing holiday over Christmas at Herons.

It was very comfortable and well equiped. Denise, the owner had added many thoughtful touches to celebrate Christmas which was much appreciated by both of us. We very much hope to visit Herons again later in the year.

A relaxing "home from home".

The host, Denise, is very friendly and helpful. This a peaceful, rural location, with a garden that backs onto the River Wye. The apartment is south facing, with panoramic patio doors / windows overlooking the river, with your own private partially covered patio. My stay was work related, so I didn't get to enjoy the full potential of the setting. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing stay in the countryside, particularly if you enjoy fishing.

The property itself is fairly nice, one or two aspects of it could do with a little tlc.

The radiator in the bathroom is looking a little tired as well as the sealant on the base of the shower. In the garden a parasol to sit under when the weather is hot would be very welcome. A main issue for us was the lack of privacy. We weren’t aware that there was a property next door and also that the property owner lives upstairs above the cottage. Trying to relax in the evening was difficult because the owner can clearly be heard moving around. The balcony of her property also overlooks the patio area which for us is unacceptable and had we known this would not have made the booking. A more accurate property description is definitely required. All in all it wasn’t quite the holiday we hoped for but for people who don’t mind sharing the space with others it will be absolutely fine.

Peace and quiet in a beautiful setting.

The property was delightful, lovely spot, very comfortable, spotless accommodation with everything supplied and Ms Hacker was such a lovely hostess.

Excellent location for a quiet and tranquil break but within driving distance of many places of interest.

We had many conversations with the owner who was very helpful and advised us of various places to visit. The apartment was well equipped and very clean. We will certainly be visiting again.

Heron’s is first class throughout.

The view over the countryside and River Wye is spectacular with the chance of seeing a variety of wildlife. Heron’s is ideally situated to tour the surrounding area. Be sure to visit Oakchurch farm shop. For townies who want something different visit the Hereford Cattle Auction. Denise, the owner is always on hand to help out with any problems and has an excellent rapport with all of her visitors.

Just returned home after a week at Heron's cottage which was very nice and so quiet ,the beautiful country with the heron fishing on the river wye, rabbits ,even a pheasant one morning looking through the patio window were a delite.

Denise the owner was very helpful in many ways with her knowledge of the area , I am also very greatful for the plant she gave us for our garden ,certainly a place I will return to Cyril / Evelyn.

Herons is a fabulous place to unwind and watch the river and wildlife go by.

The view from the terrace and living room is fantastic. The property is fab - fully equipped kitchen, spacious lounge and great bedroom (twin beds pushed together to make superking size). Plenty of parking. Definitely take binoculars with you if you like bird watching - Herons, Egrets, ducks etc as well as the rabbits and field mice in the garden. Denise was a great host and we were able to get into the property a little earlier than anticipated. She also some Border dark chocolate and ginger biscuits, some milk and some Nescafe double choc mocha sachets as well as tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. Cleaning products also provided which was great. There is a washing machine in the bathroom if you need it too.

Having had several holidays at Herons we always find it very relaxing and peaceful.

Denise is very friendly. helpful and keeps Herons spotlessly clean and comfortable. There are plenty of places to visit, such as Craswell Church near Hay on Wye.

A perfect week, a perfect hostess, a perfect property on the edge of the River Wye, Herons was just idyllic.

Fishing was so easily accessible right on the doorstep. Location central to many local places of interest all within easy reach.

The Cottage was a perfect hideaway.

Nestled on banks overlooking the River Wye, it was perfect serenity. Inside the cottage was like a home from home. It had everything you would need and was spacious and comfortable. The owner was more than helpful. On a scale of 10 - I would give it 12

Denise was a helpful and generous hostess, providing useful information both before and during our stay at Herons.

The accommodation was clean, extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The garden and grounds down to the river were beautiful, with plenty of birds to watch and lots of rabbits on the grass in the early morning and evenings. Really quite delightful! The river was low, making the fishing challenging but there were barbel and chub to be caught, mostly in the evening. There was plenty to keep us busy in the area including Hay-on-Wye bookshops, Hereford Cathedral and several National Trust properties, plus the excellent farm shop within a few minutes drive. We had a really lovely week’s stay at Herons and would thoroughly recommend this property.

From all the lovely places we have rented through Sykes this is by far the most superior.

The view from the living room and terrace is spectacular, the furnishings are tasteful and so comfortable. All facilities are of high standard. We usually use the accommodation as a base and go sightseeing. However we so enjoyed "Heron's" that for 2 days of the week we just stayed to watch the wild life on the river and the rabbits cavorting on the lawn. We simply loved it!!

Spectacular, Tranquil location, Spotless accommodation, Very helpful property owner.

We have always been very pleased with our Sykes accommodation but this apartment far exceeded our expectations, the apartment itself was very well equipped,the location and the warm welcome of the owner,we wanted for nothing.

A return visit is certainly planned and we don't usually return to the same place twice.

The apartment adjoining was not occupied if it had have been we would have lacked privacy. Larger, softer bath towels and more comfortable pillows would have been appreciated.

Denise the owner is very welcoming and helpful. There are also plenty of interesting places to visit around Herefordshire. A nice mornings visit is to the Small Breed and Birds of Prey centre near Kington also Hay on Wye.

Herons IS paradise on earth! The apartment is spacious and well equipped. Uninterrupted views of the Wye river are unbelievable, the total vista is beyond words - not a man made feature to be seen. The wild life is a joy, the birds in particular are varied and pleasantly chatty. The host very friendly, pro-active in making sure everything is okay for you, then discreet. We hope to go back. The peaceful, uplifting experience will stay with us for a long time. Highly recommended.

This cottage was the nicest we've been to, all others will have a lot to live up to.

The views were fantastic, everything in the cottage had been thought of and everything was of the highest quality. Denise was a lovely lady, we even had an easter egg left for us. We really couldn't have asked for more and will be returning as soon as possible.

Beautiful apartment with equally beautiful views over the river Wye.

Even in dull weather, the setting was idyllic. Sitting in an armchair with a cup of tea viewing the river and wildlife through panoramic patio windows was just perfect. There was plenty to see in the area too, with Weir Gardens (National Trust) just down the road an absolute gem of a place. Our hostess, Denise, was very welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. If you want somewhere to chill out and enjoy nature, such as watching a buzzard looking for (presumably) insects on the lawn outside our window, then this is the place for you. We shall certainly return.

Herons is an in an idyllic location for anyone wishing to "get away" from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

It is a tranquil, peaceful and relaxing retreat with every comfort provided for, Denise is an exemplary host.
