We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Horse Gin.
Neil greeted us on arrival and was on hand to answer any questions throughout our stay. The cottage was clean and really well equipped. The location was perfect for exploring the forest and many other attractions were just a short drive away. There are also two dog friendly pubs, The Fountain Inn and The Woodman Inn just a short walk from the cottage that both served excellent food. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book again when we are next in the area.

We met the friendly owner, Neil, upon arrival who welcomed us and was on hand if you needed anything. The cottage was well equipped, clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. We stayed during a very hot week in August, so it did get hot in the cottage, however a fan was provided which helped immensely. Horse Gin was an ideal base in which to explore the area. Parkend is a lovely friendly village, with two pubs, two cafes, cycle hire, post office/shop, steam railway, bus routes to Lydney, Coleford and Gloucester and numerous cycle and walking trails. We would recommend visits to Mallards Pike and Symonds Yat Rock and Monmouth. The only suggestion we could think of to make the cottage even better would be to provide a parasol for the private patio area and maybe replace the small mirror just outside the bathroom for a full length mirror.
