“We really liked the cottage and enjoyed our stay.”

Very comfortable bed and nice to have such a big bathroom. The kitchen diner was also roomy and well equipped. Although the TV was small it wasn’t a problem and we were very pleased to have the fans as it was a warm week. Personally I would have preferred less clutter/ornaments in the living room. Lack of WiFi probably no bad thing once in a while! Larger towels would have been good though!

Thank you so much for your appreciative feedback, it is so good to hear kind words from guests. The Mews Cottage is instended to be a home from home rather than a hotel type accomodation and therefore some of the furnishings are antiique pieces from my own home. I am happy if others can enjoy them. I will look in to the towel situation, thank you so much for the suggestion. Kind regards Diana (owner) Property Owner

The property

Tucked away just off Tisbury's high street, The Mews Cottage is a charming, white-washed, period cottage.

The property is comfortably furnished throughout with many homely touches, ideal for a couple looking for a break in a vibrant village in the heart of Wiltshire.

With light and sunny south-facing rooms, you'll have a great view of all the local comings and goings from the upstairs windows.

Outside there is a garden area with decking at the front of the cottage and there are endless walks right from the front door.

A great base for exploring this relatively undiscovered part of Wiltshire.

About the location

TISBURY, NEAR BATH

Shaftesbury 12 miles; Salisbury 15 miles.

An interesting, lively village on the Wiltshire/Dorset border, well served by a good selection of inns, shops, a library, a bank, a garage and with a regular rail link to both London and Exeter. The village is set in the valley of the River Nadder, a good fishing river which gently meanders its way down to Salisbury and where herons, grey wagtails and even kingfishers may be seen - a bird watcher’s paradise! Along the valley, the lush green countryside provides superb rural walks and cycling. Full of history, the nearby mill predates even the Domesday Book. A visit to the local churchyard reveals a famous 1,000 year old yew tree and also the graves of Rudyard Kipling's parents, who lived here. The village serves as a great year round base for exploring this interesting area. Within a short drive are Wilton House, Shaftesbury, Old Wardour Castle, Stourhead, Stonehenge (which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury.

Note: Children aged eight and over welcome (unsuitable for those under 8, except babes in arms).
Sorry no WIFI.
Please Note: There is a pub next door.
Note: The garden has been recently revamped in Spring 2023.
