What guests are saying
Me and my partner have stayed in these cabins for a few years in a row now.
We visited with family this year and had an incredible time. This was the first time we had stayed in one of the cabins and it was even better than we thought. It was the perfect getaway for us all to relax and unwind for the week. We did have a couple of issues but the owners were quick to help and got the problem sorted asap. We will defiantly be back again.
4 night stay in cedar cabin, accommodation was perfect, clean and tidy, plenty of room, views were lovely lots of wildlife and birdlife to watch, outside area is spot on steps up to the decking are a bit steep could potentially do with a hand rail for people with mobility issues, fishing was very slow but we did manage to wake them up and catch a few, the carp are in immaculate condition, my only suggestion would be to clear the reeds each side of the decking so rods can be placed a bit closer to the cabin.
Salford Court Farm Fishing Cabins is a set of four properties situated around a fishing lake.
To reach the property you drive down a bumpy, winding gravel track through several fields, so it’s well away from roads and traffic noise. The setting is incredibly peaceful, apart from when the hundreds of ducks and geese arrive (they come and go throughout the day!). They are very noisy, but personally I didn’t mind this at all and really enjoyed sitting and watching them. Cedar Cabin itself was very clean and well equipped, with plenty of towels and toilet rolls, although personally I prefer a larger bath sheet rather than a bath towel. I’d pre-prepared most of my food so didn’t use many of the kitchen utensils, but it looked as though everything you’d need was provided. There was a gas oven and hob, microwave, small fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher. Cleaning supplies, foil, cling film and hand soap were provided, although there was no kitchen roll. One thing to be aware of is that some items, including the frying pans, are stored on high shelves which I couldn’t reach. I’d also seen the kettle mentioned in previous reviews, so took my own. The bed was super comfy and the shower was lovely and hot. As another reviewer has mentioned, there was an unpleasant smell in the kitchen. I didn’t raise this with the owners during my stay as I generally had the windows and doors open, so it wasn’t too overpowering. The cabin is next to the car park serving three of the properties, so it’s only a very short walk from the car. One thing I hadn’t realised before arriving was that there are several deep steps up to the cabin, which made getting my elderly Labrador in and out quite challenging. The outside area is mainly fenced, but there is an unfenced section on either side of the decking where a determined dog could potentially get to the lake. The grassy area immediately beyond the fenced section was also covered in goose poo and prickly thistles. This probably wouldn’t be an issue at all with a younger, more agile dog, as you could simply walk further afield, but sadly my eldest dog is very frail and unable to walk far, so our options for short toilet walks were quite limited. Another thing worth knowing is that the hot tub doesn’t have a lid lifter to help get the cover on and off. I was travelling alone and am fairly strong, but I really struggled to get the lid back on. It did take away from the relaxation of using the hot tub a little, knowing I had to wrestle with the cover afterwards! I appreciate there probably aren’t many solo travellers staying in a cabin of this size, though, and with two people this may not be an issue. Finally, the Wi-Fi was very weak and regularly cut out, as did the TV reception. I’d planned a fairly tech-free week anyway, so this didn’t particularly bother me, but it may be worth knowing if reliable internet or TV is important to you. Overall, I would definitely recommend Cedar Cabin if you’re looking for a peaceful countryside retreat. It’s in a lovely, quiet setting and the cabin itself was clean, comfortable and well equipped. I would just be cautious about recommending it to anyone travelling with a person or dog with significant mobility issues, mainly because of the deep steps into the property and the terrain immediately around the cabin.
