Malvern is an excellent centre for both long and short holidays. Its unique history, dramatic countryside and close proximity to numerous places of interest offer plenty for all visitors to discover. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Malvern Hills form a 9-mile range of ancient rock, which offers 100 miles of footpaths and bridleways with natural springs and spectacular views in all directions. Other outdoor activities available include high ropes, climbing and abseiling and fishing and river cruises are available nearby. A number of National Trust properties, gardens and vineyards are within easy reach. Malvern has many individual shops, cafes, art galleries and restaurants and a luxurious spa. Great Malvern dates back to the Bronze Age and is situated on the eastern side of the dramatic Malvern Hills. The town holds antique and craft fairs, farmers’ markets and many auctions throughout the year, as well as the Great Malvern Food Festival in June. Malvern Theatres has an extensive programme throughout the year including productions from the West End and the Royal Shakespeare Company, musicals, and dance, to world-renowned musicians and orchestras; the associated cinema screens new releases. In June Ledbury hosts an annual Poetry Festival.
