“A really lovely stay at this beautiful cottage.”

The garden is very pretty and really safe for our dogs. We would be happy to return . The host offered a 2 course meal service delivered to the cottage wishing we had known before we arrived

The property

Woodlands Cottage is a beautiful family-sized house, with its own enclosed and pretty garden, in the grounds of Docklow Manor.

It’s situated in the tiny rural hamlet of Docklow, and has extensive views west of the rolling Herefordshire countryside towards Wales.

This spacious accommodation is perfect for family or friends seeking a restorative holiday in the rural idyll of this unspoilt county of apple orchards and hop fields, traditional pubs and picturesque villages.

A winding path through the pretty garden of Woodlands Cottage leads you to the front door.

Step into the large, stylish kitchen/diner, where you will find everything you could possibly need to rustle up a delicious evening meal before heading into the comfortable sitting room, which boasts a superb selection of DVDs, books and games.

Upstairs are two bedrooms – a double and a twin – each of them tastefully furnished and beautifully decorated.

There’s an en-suite shower room in the twin bedroom, and a separate family-sized bathroom too, with a bath and hand-held shower.

The property is set in the beautiful 4-acre grounds of Docklow Manor, which guests are welcome to explore.

There are formal lawns, herbaceous borders, a kitchen garden, an orchard of apple, pear and cherry trees, and a wilder wooded area with two giant Wellingtonia redwoods, rhododendrons and azaleas, and at the right time of year, a mass of spring flowers.

There are benches here and there, for guests to sit and enjoy the glorious far-reaching views towards Hay Bluff and the Brecon Beacons.

Younger guests will find there’s plenty of room to play football, and there’s a trampoline too (on which children must be supervised by an adult).

About the location

DOCKLOW

Leominster 5.5 miles; Bromyard 6.5 miles; Hereford 17 miles.

The tiny hamlet of Docklow is surrounded by rolling Herefordshire countryside, and there are some traditional inns within a short drive, which offer a warm welcome and excellent food. Docklow is ideally placed for exploring everything this peaceful county has to offer, as well as – a little further afield - the delights of neighbouring Shropshire, Worcestershire and The Cotswolds. The area has many lovely walks, including the long-distance Three Choirs Way and Offa’s Dyke, and there are also cycle trails, horse riding and fishing all available nearby. A short drive from Docklow is the historic town of Leominster, with the lovely Priory church, half-timbered architecture, many antique shops and a variety of other independent shops and cafés. A little further away is the cathedral city of Hereford, where the majestic cathedral itself is home to the fascinating Mappa Mundi, and Chained Library. Hereford dates to Saxon times, and its position in the Welsh Marches made it the site of many a skirmish over the centuries. Surrounded by the hills beyond, and with its medieval bridge over the lazy, winding River Wye, it is the very image of picturesque England.

Please note: minimum stay is 3 nights.
