About the location

DEFFORD

Pershore 3.5 miles; Upton on Severn 5 miles; Malvern 12 miles; Cheltenham 16 miles.

Defford is a small village on the edge of Bredon Hill, in Worcestershire's Heritage Garden, one of the most unspoilt areas of England, famous for its Blossom Trail and locally grown fruit and veg. The elegant market town of Pershore, on the River Avon, is a short drive away, boasting Georgian architecture, a medieval Abbey and many shops, restaurants and traditional inns. Close by is the riverside town of Upton on Severn with its' flourishing marina, half-timbered buildings, music and water festivals, and popular local vineyard. The magnificent Malvern Hills and Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of Shakespeare, numerous National Trust properties, Cheltenham Racecourse and ancient mellow Cotswold villages are also within easy reach. The many delights of Worcestershire's open countryside, with its' agricultural shows, open gardens and village fetes, typifies rural England and was reputedly used as a model for BBC 4's The Archers. There are many lovely walks and cycle trails, museums and olde worlde pubs - something to suit all tastes and at time of year.
