“The scenery here is absolutely gorgeous and the hot tub overlooking the lake was incredibly relaxing.”

You do expect spiders and bugs when staying somewhere like this, and normally that wouldn’t bother me too much, however I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who is uncomfortable around bugs and spiders — especially as many of the spiders were huge. You do expect spiders and bugs when staying somewhere like this, and normally that wouldn’t bother me too much, however I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who is uncomfortable around bugs and spiders — especially as many of the spiders were huge. We booked for 3 nights but unfortunately only stayed for 1. After pulling back the sheets we found various bugs and flies under the covers, which made us uncomfortable enough to sleep in the car instead. There were also dead cockroaches between the plates and in the bath, and when we pulled back the curtains there appeared to be lots of dead bugs there too. It’s such a shame because the location itself is beautiful and this place could have been lovely if the accommodation had been properly checked before arrival. Some bugs and spiders are to be expected in this type of setting, but it felt rather excessive. I’d also suggest adding some sort of netting or seal around the door, as there was a gap underneath which likely allowed many bugs inside. Another thing to note is that this place is advertised as dog friendly, however there were many large gaps in the fencing which we had to block ourselves using bins and other objects. We even had to go out and buy material to wrap around parts of the fence so our dog didn’t have direct access to the lake. Our dog is trained not to stray too far, but I still couldn’t properly relax because all it takes is two seconds for something to happen. If you have a small dog — or even a larger dog — I would definitely be cautious. I also want to add that the lady who owns this place is absolutely lovely and she did listen to our concerns, which we appreciated. Please take this as constructive feedback rather than negativity, as the location itself is beautiful and with a few improvements this could be an amazing stay. I’m not usually one to complain, but I did want to warn others that if you are uncomfortable around bugs and spiders, or travelling with a dog, this may not be the place for you.
