“We had a lovely stay at the Yurt it’s tucked away private and a luxury my one and only complaint is the awful plumbing job on the bath which led the water to flood out and we spent near an hour mopping up the floor and scooping water out the bath to then pour down the sink instead.”

I’m not sure if the previous customers had broke and hence not reported but this should’ve been seen to and addressed… Other than this setback it was a 10/10 stay and lovely hosts would stay again.

The property

Secret Island Yurt is a secluded and romantic lakeside hideaway positioned on its own private island on the edge of the village of Beckford, close to the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire border within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Created with couples in mind, this pet‑friendly retreat blends an open‑plan layout with indulgent features such as a sauna and firepit, offering a setting made for slowing down and switching off.

Park nearby and pause for a moment before heading inside, as the water and surrounding stillness begin to shape the mood of your stay.

The yurt opens into a distinctive open‑plan space where cooking, dining, and relaxing sit comfortably together, making it easy to settle straight in and feel at ease.

The kitchen is well suited to everything from simple suppers to more considered meals, with a full oven and hob for cooking, a microwave for convenience, and a dishwasher quietly taking care of the clearing away, leaving you free to linger over the table or drift into the sitting area.

As daylight softens, the gas woodburner‑effect stove draws focus, creating a welcoming place to unwind, while evenings can be spent lowering the roll‑down screen, choosing a DVD, and enjoying a relaxed cinema‑style night.

When it’s time to turn in, head up to the mezzanine where the king‑size bed overlooks the living space below, forming a characterful sleeping area that gently rounds off the day.

To one side, the freestanding roll‑top bath invites long soaks without breaking the open flow of the yurt, while the sauna provides a warming retreat, and a separate basin and WC keep the layout straightforward.

Outside, the wooden veranda traces the edge of the island, placing you close to the lake throughout the day, whether sinking into the private hot tub, lighting the firepit as evening draws in, or cooking on the barbecue and settling into the outdoor seating at your own pace.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy the rowing boat or spend quiet hours fishing on site, with a variety of freshwater species in the lake, making Secret Island Yurt a truly distinctive escape shaped by privacy, thoughtful comforts, and time taken slowly.
