    Also plenty of outdoor space and parking. It was very quiet which we like. It was however spoilt by very poor housekeeping and maintenance. We tried to engage Martin who was our contact for the cottage by sending him a message with our complaints but apart from leaving us a dozen eggs which we enjoyed he did little else. There is just no excuse for dirty shower tiles and shower drains and toilets.

    Hello Elizebeth. Thank you for your review. I have just re read your message you sent me, and you mentioned rinse aid was needed for the dishwasher and an extra drawing pin required for the fly net that covers the patio doors. Both of which I dealt with that very same morning as well as leaving a dozen eggs with my compliments. Therefore, I cannot relate to your comment that besides leaving eggs I did "little else”. You did not, as you say you did, bring to my attention any issues with cleanliness. Had you of done so then as per your other requests, I would have dealt with accordingly and promptly as I quite agree, dirty toilets and showers are inexcusable. We are in a hard water area of grid with the use of septic tanks, therefore, the use of bleach down the toilets is not appropriate. By not using bleach and using more environmentally friendly products that are suitable for septic tanks can lead to discolouration and water marks in areas such as the base of the toilets or watermarks on shower tiles, this does not mean however that they are dirty as I trust that my cleaning staff have followed their usual procedures. That said, I shall pass your comments onto the team. Woodman’s cottage has had another successful and busy year and after 10 years it will be going off line in April 2026 to be refurbished. UPPER SEAGRY

Malmesbury 5 Miles; Chippenham 6 miles

The small North Wiltshire village of Upper Seagry is found in superb countryside only five miles north of the bustling market town of Chippenham, and six miles from the ancient town of Malmesbury. Close to the southern end of The Cotswolds, this rural location provides a great base from which to explore this fascinating area. There are ample footpaths and bridleways nearby, a visit to Malmesbury - with its 12th century Benedictine Abbey - is a must, whilst a trip to the Cotswold Water Park is a real treat. Westobirt Arboretum, with its extensive collection of trees and shrubs is not to be missed. Within an easy drive can be found the picturesque village of Castle Combe, also well known for its car racing track, and the quaint National Trust village of Lacock, used as the setting for the BBC TV serial Cranford. The impressive Roman city of Bath, Bowood House, and the ancient stone circle at Avebury are also easily accessible.
