What guests are saying
The best thing that I can say about this home to anyone looking at it is BOOK IT NOW!
This home was just incredible. It was exactly what we were looking for in a location that was unbeatable. We wanted to have a "historic" feel while also having the modern conveniences that our family with young kids needs. The home exceeded our expectations. It was clean, well set up with those items you need (soap, dishwasher detergent, etc). The location was perfect and we could simply walk into town without having to deal with parking. The garden area is spacious and the living room was perfect for our family. The owners were so responsive and checked in on us during our stay as well. If we make our way back here, we will 100% book again! Thank you!
Leaky sink, bit of a death trap for those not steady on their feet and parking was a nightmare.
Otherwise beautiful property and was very clean.
Fox Den Cottage is situated in the beautiful village of Castle Combe.
We really liked this, as we enjoyed popping back into the village in the evenings for a drink once it had quietened down a bit. The cottage is, for the most part, tidy and well-furnished. The kitchen and bedrooms are in good condition. Unfortunately, however (contrary to the description), the house isn’t really child-friendly, as the stairs mean there’s a lot of walking involved and children can’t walk on them very safely (too steep and too many steps). Furthermore, both showers are very cramped; in particular, the door to the lower shower is almost impossible to open. This needs to be sorted out urgently. It would also be nice to have more towel rails or larger ones. Furthermore, tenants are required to dry all their laundry in the tumble dryer (which isn’t possible with delicate items). There is no clothes horse, and when we asked, we were simply told to use the (dark) wooden hangers and the few hooks in the house. Unfortunately, there is also no parasol in the garden, so we could only use the seating areas later in the day, but not at breakfast or whilst sitting in the sun. Towards the end of our week’s holiday, we had a significant problem with woodlice. We counted at least 20 of them per day on the upper floor, and unfortunately they also found their way into our suitcases.
