“Location was good and the fresh cake a nice gesture.”

But that's as far as the good gets. The sofas were worn out to the point where you could not sit on them. There was no extractor hood in the kitchen and utensils were not clean. The mattresses were also worn out and left us with back pain. Worst of all the downstairs area had lots of woodlice. Our kids were horrified. Heating was on a timer and completely off the first day (but the owner put it on after we asked). Do not recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. All feedback is important to us as it helps us to make improvements going forward. We are sorry that this experience has not been fully positive or that the cleanliness of utensils was not up to our usual high standards. These are always checked between guests and we can only apologise if something was missed on this occasion. We are disappointed to hear that you did not sleep comfortably - our mattresses are not worn out and are of high quality. Most guests, even quite recently, say how comfortable they find them. You will appreciate it is very difficult to choose bedding in holiday accommodation that suits every guests needs. We can assure you that our sofas are not worn out as we recently had new cushions made for them and upholstery work done on them in late April this year. We do not have an extractor fan hood above the cooker, but we do have windows that can be easily opened nearby. We try to remove as many wood lice as possible, but being a 200 year old stone country cottage it is not always possible to eliminate them completely. Again, apologies. They are, however, completely harmless. Although the heating was not turned on for your arrival, there is a wood burner in the property with a limitless supply of wood. However, the heating was turned on for you at the first opportunity and there are also 2 electric fan heaters available in the bedrooms. Cider Press Cottage is such a lovely property in a delightful location, as reflected by the experience of many previous guests, and we're sorry you weren't able to fully enjoy it. Property Owner

The property

Perched on the outskirts of the historic city of Bath in Somerset, is this fantastic two-bedroom cottage, Cider Press Cottage.

Thoughtfully furnished and decorated, Cider Press Cottage makes for a chic and roomy country getaway for couples or a family of four.

This lovely tiny cottage is every bit the rural hideaway; it was built in the 18th-century and is located on the grounds of the owners' gorgeous mansion.

The cottage is private but still close to the countryside; a stroll down the path takes you to the village and the Ring O'Bells, the local tavern.

The interior's bright colours and stylish furnishings give it a contemporary feel, yet the many original period details keep the quaint atmosphere intact.

Its convenient location within easy reach of downtown Bath or a pleasant stroll from the doorstep into the surrounding countryside, makes this home stand out among the others.

In the months of July, August, and September, we only accept Friday arrivals for 7-night stays.

(For any other check-in/stay dates/duration combinations, please inquire).

Escape to Somerset with a stay at Cider Press Cottage.
