Station Masters Cottage

A home away from home.

We stayed here with 2 dogs, 2 children and 3 adults. There was plenty of space for us to sit together for meals, and in the lounge, but also enough space that we weren’t on top of each other. The garden was perfect for the dogs, and the location was beautiful. We used the local farm shop (so beautiful) for dinner ingredients and enjoyed lovely meals. We were driving distance from everything we wanted to do and see and would come back again. The only two issues (minor) I will point out is the Thomas room smelt slightly musky/damp but not to the point it couldn’t be utilised, and the washing machine needs cleaning (mould build up in drum and tray), but again, a minor thing that will take 5 minutes to do. All in all, beautiful weekend, in a beautiful home. Thankyou.

We have just enjoyed a lovely Christmas break in the Station Master’s Cottage.

We were a large mixed party made up of myself and my husband, my son, his wife and their three year old, my daughter and her boyfriend (both aged 19) and our dog. The house was perfect for our needs; enough room for each family to have some space, whilst still feeling cosy. The teens particularly enjoyed the independence of the annexe, and the secure enclosed garden was perfect for the dog and toddler to safely get a breath of air without needing constant supervision. Gary the owner was so helpful, giving us lots of information before our stay and checking in via text to make sure we were ok. He even put up a lovely Christmas tree and decorations to make the cottage feel festive. The kitchen is spacious and we enjoyed using it to cook a full Christmas dinner plus various family meals throughout our stay. The lounge was spacious but felt welcoming and seated us all in comfort for present opening and several film / games nights. The location is great - loads to do nearby, convenient for concerts and shows in Birmingham but right in the countryside with lovely dog walks. All in all a real gem of a holiday cottage. I thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely cottage, especially for railway enthusiasts.

The children had a great time watching trains from their window. The location was ideal with being able to just walk across the road to the station & loads of places to visit in the area. We would love to return. The owner was very helpful & supplies an online detailed guide.

We loved our holiday at this property.

The accommodation was excellent and well equipped for three generations of our family. The beds were comfortable and plenty of seating in the lounge for Seven of us. It is close to the railway and the grandsons loved waving to the trains with drivers often waving back. A small village shop nearby with basic items and two lovely pubs serving food all within walking distance. Lots of places to visit in the area and something for all ages. The Hosts have thought of everything we were sad to leave.

The holiday was great.

The accommodation is very nice. The garden looked at bit tired but a good size. To see the trains go past is good but not good when it's a freight train in the early hours

A wonderful stay.

Such a beautiful property, very unique and ideal for history / train enthusiasts. Such work has been put into the renovation. Gary was exceptional, a wonderful host and very considerate. Overall I would highly recommend this place.

A clean and comfortable property with so many quirky features reflecting its history.

It was good for a three generational stay apart from an inadequate amount of crockery and cutlery especially when catering for ourselves. Location is brilliant for many NT properties and of course for the Severn Valley Railway and anywhere accessible by train on the line running alongside the property. If you like trains then this is definitely the property for you!

Have just spent a lovely couple of days here with family.

The amount of bathrooms/ toilets excellent! Bedrooms and kitchen clean, smart and modern. The living room whilst comfy and plenty of seating for us did not match the modern standard of rest of cottage. We spent a fair amount of time in garden and used picnic blankets to sit on as outside seating not suitable for relaxing. Maybe some comfy seating could be provided and kept in the boxes in garden. But great stay, lovely area. Trains not an issue as they did not run throughout the night.

All three generations of our family adored the Station Master’s Cottage.

If you like trains, it is the perfect setting & the train theme continues within the cottage, delighting the children. It was welcoming, warm, comfortable & very well-equipped. It’s been a great find for us … we will be back

A wonderful stay with the children ages ranging from 6 years to 20, one of whom loves trains.

They all loved waving at them passing by. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with enough space to accommodate us all. We visited Drayton Manor, which was about an hour away, Cabury World, (which teens and tots all enjoyed, especially the chocolate handouts) and Severn Valley railway. There are large supermarkets close by as well as a local shop and plenty of takeaways. The only 'faults' were nowhere to dry laundry on a rainy day and could have had more crockery particularly children friendly dishes. We hand to put the dishwasher on after breakfast to ensure clean crockery for tea and vicer versa.

Good location, we soon got used to the passing trains.

Kids loved waving to the passengers. Beds were very comfortable, lounge was spacious and enough seating for our group of 7 people. One challenge was the kitchen utensils in that the saucepans did not make it easy to cook for 7 people and some were scratched and slightly burnt. I would recommend having these replaced. It was easy to get out and about, we went to the Black Country Museum, the Falconry center just up the road and also visited Worcester good shopping center and the Cathedral was most impressive. All in all a good holiday for kids and adults alike.

We had a fantastic weekend at the cottage and are already looking at a return next year.

We had a couple of minor issues but Gary responded promptly, the cottage itself is very well kept, clean and tidy.

We’ve stayed in lots of Holiday cottages this was by far the best.

The cottages is very luxurious with a lovely little garden big enough to throw the dogs in. Dog walking easy enough with local footpaths 5 minutes away. Couple local pubs too. I liked the trains passing by found that enjoyable. I’d like to see a tiny Bistro set out the front if they are allowed due to the road access . I wanted to book for Xmas but it’s not available but will definitely recommend and return. Andy & Tina Isle of Wight

Amazing property - beautiful train related fixtures and fittings, lovely and clean.

Very kind property owner - he gave us recommendations for where to visit and made our stay very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

We all found the cottage cold and damp particularly the annexe a converted garage my daughter left earlier than planned.

We were cold at night and bedding was inadequate. The cottage was packed with railwayana which we put up high away from the grandchildren but there was no stair gate or fire guard despite a steep stair and log burner which was unusable. The fridge was very small for a cottage described as sleeping eight. Plates were chipped …. We were disappointed

We had a very nice stay at the Station Masters Cottage.

Communication with the owner was very easy and he provided useful information before our stay which made our arrival seamless. The property was cozy, clean and very comfortable. The location was perfect for our needs during our short stay. We enjoyed meals at the two local pubs which are within easy walking distance. We were very lucky to find this accommodation and hope to visit again.

This is a beautiful traditional cottage, well presented and furnished.

The kitchen is large and modern, adequately equipped. There is a lovely log burner in the lounge but be aware that logs and firelighters are “not an endless supply” - to quote the owner. I needed to buy both to keep the burner going during a cold week in the winter. The weather was frosty and icy but no grit or salt provided, one of us slipped on the ice, falling heavily at the front of the property. However the accommodation suited our multi generation stay and the village of Blakedown, although small, had two nice pubs for eating out. The cottage is situated in an area with lots to do and see to suit all generations.

Station Masters Cottage was everything we hoped it might be.

It really was home from home. It’s very well equipped and nicely presented. It’s been very well thought out with incredible attention to detail. An absolute must for the train fans but also a very lovely stay if you’re not. I am more than happy to highly recommend this property.

We had a wonderful stay at the Station Masters cottage, and we were really grateful for the wine and extras that were left for us, especially after our long journey.

The cottage is well furnished and spacious with a beautiful kitchen and garden area,all of the bedrooms are decorated to a high standard plus the annex in the garden is a lovely bedroom, ideal when you’re travelling with a family . Our Granddaughter loved the trains going by, and we used them to travel to Birmingham . Overall it is a great place to stay with plenty of places to visit in the local area.

The cottage is so very welcoming and comfortable, in a great position for using the railway.

As has been said before, there is absolutely nothing not to like about it, everything has been thought of. It feels like a family home. Communicating with the owner was simple. We hope we can return

We stayed at the cottage for a week , it's is a wonderful to stay .

It has everything you need from washing machine to egg cups . The owner were very helpfully from booking to leaving . The on line information pack is the best I have ever received. The cottage is a ideal base for travelling about we went to ACT . Lichfield, Worcester , Black country living museum to name a few. We arrived to wine ,bread,milk butter ,jam tea and coffee to greet us. We will be returning to this wonderful cottags.

Beautiful house with stunning, quiet surroundings!

The perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee whilst listening to the birds. Great facilities and extremely clean. Highly recommended! The near by pub is very welcoming and have very friendly staff. A must walk to Stanley's farm shop is recommended!!

Everything was clean and tidy.

Good location for lots of attractions and would definitely consider staying again if we come back to the area.

Fabulous cottage, deceptively spacious and converted with love and style.

A must for any train buffs, and fascinating for all. The garden space is lovely, beautifully planted with flowers and herbs. Very easy to locate and access by road or train, with good walks from the cottage, and awesome walks within a short drive - we did Clent Hills. Should be noted that the "bunk" room are full size bunk beds.

We had a very enjoyable holiday at Stationmasters Cottage, the property is very clean, comfortable and well decorated and furnished.

We found many places of interest to visit and enjoyed food at the Swan.

The property was very welcoming and clean.

It looked to be newly renovated also. It was a blessing to have tea, sugar, milk and bread left for our arrival as we had several travel delays. The owner left a very helpful visitors book which came in handy. Hairdryers and iron onsite meant we didn't have to bring them. No complaints whatsoever! Wonderful, thank you!

Would highly recommend. A delightful cottage modern interior but keeping the character. Very good quality furnishings and everything needed provided. So comfortable and relaxing. Plenty of places to visit locally. Easy to contact the friendly owner if needed. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely cottage, our 2nd stay this year.

Christmas decorations were a very ice touch and appreciated. Ideal for trains into Birmingham City centre and to other locations.

The house absolutely stunning, with lovely character features and incredible hosts.

The children loved watching the trains go by and being close to the station ment we were able to get out and about without any bother. The house was beautifully presented with a large secure garden for our pooches. Genuinely gutted when we had to leave but so looking forward to coming back again! The house was a home from home just what we needed.

A quirky, well presented, comfortable, cosy property with excellent communication from the owner.

Due to the proximity of the railway, visitors could use the very regular train service for exploring the area and not have to drive anywhere.

They went out of their way to help us. Would recommend both the location and the property - great for lots of adventures along the Severn Valley. Especially loved the railway touches throughout the property. The enclosed garden was a lovely discovery and allowed us to make the most of the weather.
