    “Firstly the photos don’t do it justice.”

    The downstairs is much larger than we thought it was going to be. The house is in a lovely and very peaceful location. There are a couple of great pubs within level walking distance and nice walks from the door. Previous reviews of this property almost stopped us from booking but I was assured the cleanliness issues had been resolved. However there were a few minor niggles ie the cutlery trays needed a clean, the kitchen cupboard doors needed a wash and the Henry hoover hadn’t been emptied ...

    The downstairs is much larger than we thought it was going to be. The house is in a lovely and very peaceful location. There are a couple of great pubs within level walking distance and nice walks from the door. But overall the cleanliness was fairly good, bedding, bathrooms and toilets all very clean. There was liquid soap in the downstairs toilet, all the bathrooms and the kitchen also washing up liquid, milk, tea, coffee and sugar and a lovely welcome pack of goodies. Our overall thoughts are we would stay here again.

The property

This spacious and beautifully decorated cottage in the heart of the vibrant Cotswold village of Milton Under Wychwood is perfect for get togethers for families and friends in all seasons and provides a warm and high quality base from which to explore the Cotswolds.

Able to accommodate 8 adults and 2 children (and accepts two medium sized dogs at a small additional charge), the outside terraces, front and back, both have dining table/chairs and the back garden garden extends to double the width of the cottage providing ample lawn for the kids to run around with far reaching views and direct access to a wide choice of footpaths leading to farm shops and pubs that allow guests to enjoy the outside as much as the cosy comfort of the interiors with open plan kitchen / dining area, breakfast bar and multiple sitting areas including a wood burning stove for chilly evenings.

Each of the four large bedrooms have king size beds and ensuite bathrooms (one of the upstairs bedrooms has an adjoining twin room for two children).

Fairview Cottage has all of the modern comforts you would expect from a perfect home from home, located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with far reaching views towards Lord Astor's Bruern Estate.The bright and well equipped kitchen is ideal for entertaining and the large 3m dining table opening out onto the front terrace will enable guests to create many memories of shared moments during their stay. Fairview is entered through a glazed porch leading into an extensive sitting room with a woodburning fire and cosy sofas.

From there three pairs of French doors open directly out onto the back garden with a generous covered terrace.

The spacious and bright kitchen/dining area with double Siemens ovens (one of which is multi-function steam), two generous Fisher and Paykel fridge freezers, and five burner gas hob spans the whole depth of the cottage.

From there a link room leads to a generous downstairs bedroom suite, with shower and roll top bathtub on the ground floor.

Upstairs, two of the king-size bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms, whilst the third bedroom upstairs has a tub and shower and also a small side room with twin beds for children.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £500.

MILTON-UNDER-WYCHWOOD

Burford 4 miles; Chipping Norton 7 miles.

Milton Under Wychwood is the perfect location for those wishing to
experience country village life, ideally positioned between Burford,
Kingham (the heart of the Daylesford empire), Stow-On-The-Wold with its many antiques shops and hostelries and Chipping Norton of Jeremy Clarkson fame, all within a 7-20 minute drive. There is ample parking offroad at the cottage (for at least 3 cars) and the village is also well positioned for access from either Charlbury or Kingham stations (our neighbour runs a friendly and efficient taxi service for those arriving by train) Cheltenham and Oxford are only a little further afield.
Within the village of Milton Under Wychwood itself there are many local
attractions all within walking distance of the cottage.
The Coop supermarket is open 7 days a week until late, with daily
newspapers and fresh bakery
Our local pub, The Hare, has excellent beer and some of the best food in the area with welcoming and friendly service.
Groves Yard has many shops and food options
Community bar in the Pavillion on the green (which has a great playground for kids) also offers food trucks a few nights of the week
Wonderful local library with great kids play area and access to computers and printing
A pleasant walk across the fields or by road leads to three further pubs in Shipton Under Wychwood - The Wychwood Arms, The Crown, The Lamb with beer gardens and food - and also has a post office.
This is an excellent holiday cottage option.
