    “Disappointed.”

    The shower in the upstairs bathroom is leaking onto the window sill in the kitchen below. The bottom oven is not working. The conservatory is very nice, but there is a pane of glass half in and half out of the frame on one of the windows. Only one radiator is working in the lounge. The issues we encounter had been noted in the maintance book by previous guests, months ago but don't appear to have been rectified. Don't understand how Sykes have not picked up these things on their inspection of ...

In my opinion the property needs some work done on it to bring it up to the standard guests would expect.

    Dear Mrs Larsen Thank you for your feedback on Stonewheel Cottage which we have noted. Firstly, we had the leak from the bathroom fixed as soon as you told us about the problem. There is nothing leaking from the bathroom now. Secondly, there is nothing wrong with the oven at all! When you turn the bottom oven on, you must also turn the knob for how long you want it on for. It is there to make sure the guests don’t leave the oven on. Apologies if one of the perspex panes in the conservatory was adrift - that was immediately rectified. Regarding one of the radiators in the living room that wasn’t working, we had someone in to fix it but it still doesn’t seem to be working optimally so we have a plumber coming on Wednesday to sort that out. It is a pity you didn’t raise these all of these concerns during your stay and we could have been able to sort things out sooner. We do try to make sure everything is in good working order at all times. Kind regards Joanne Property Owner

The property

Sitting in the heart of Hook Norton village and around the corner from some cracking country pubs, Stone Wheel Cottage is just the perfect and typical Cotswolds' cottage.

Hundreds of years old, sitting within the grounds of the owners' substantial period property, this sweet and charming cottage retains all its period charm but with much added comfort and style.

Simply furnished and the perfect retreat.

The kitchen / diner is comfortable and well furnished, the Living Room spacious and cosy, with a wonderful log-burner, while upstairs are three good sized bedrooms, each smart and simple in presentation with very comfortable beds, and a separate family bathroom.

There's a garden outside with loads of room to relax and unwind, and the wow factor being provided by the covered, heated swimming pool(In use April-October and bookable via the owner) However, with a host of village pubs within walking distance you may prefer to take the fresh air when strolling for lunch or otherwise!

This is a blissful retreat where you are convenient for a host of Cotswolds gems.

If you're so inclined Daylesford and Soho Farmhouse are nearby, otherwise Chipping Norton is just 7 mins drive away.

We love it here and believe you will and your pooch too! 2 well behaved dogs welcome charges apply.

HOOK NORTON

Chipping Norton 5 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 22 miles; Oxford 25 miles.

A picturesque village with many honey-coloured historic buildings, thatched cottages, a thriving community and its very own steam driven brewery, the last of its kind in the country. The village boasts a well-stocked shop, Post Office, several pubs and restaurants and many lovely walks can be enjoyed from the village with the D'Arcy Dalton Way passing through the village. The market town of Chipping Norton lies south of the village in the Cotswold Hills, plays host to many festivals throughout the year, has an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a theatre and the oldest golf course in Oxfordshire.
