2 Dewars Farm Cottages

We spent a lovely weekend with family at the cottage.

Overall we were very happy with our stay and our grandchildren had a good time together. There were only a couple of issues which we felt needed addressing and that was the double bedroom bed was reported as uncomfortable as it was slightly uneven (is it a trundle bed?) and caused a bit of backache. The other thing was baking trays maybe need replacing. OK to use with tin foil. In all we would definitely consider staying here again. Thank you.

The cottage was in a lovely location and had plenty of potential, but unfortunately a few issues took away from our stay.

The outside furniture was quite dirty and could have done with a thorough clean. The beds were also very uncomfortable and the traffic noise throughout the night made getting a good night's sleep very difficult. We also had ants around the sink which wasn't particularly pleasant. Overall it was an average stay, but some attention to cleanliness, comfort and noise levels would make a big difference. Hence the three star review.

The property layout and interior design are lovely and very well considered.

It is spacious and comfortable with a great outdoor space. The critique we feel we must leave are not to downgrade our experience or property but issues that can be attended to and then easily payed attention to. The overall cleanliness was spot on but when it came to the finer details such as stains on pillows,mattresses, and soft furnishings. Those are the details that leave a lasting impression at the end of a lovely stay. The proximity of Dewars Cottage to the road running through the lovely village of Middleton Stoney of course cannot be changed, but maybe the installation of a roadside mirror would aid the safe joining of oncoming traffic and help visitors getting out of the gate onto the main road through the lovely Oxfordshire countryside.

We had a lovely family weekend together with lots of room to accommodate 6 adults and a baby.

The hot tub was a bonus and very clean. The only draw back was the pub in the village has now closed which would have been nice for a little walk. I would definitely recommend the cottage.

We had a lovely comfortable weekend stay at Dewars farm cottage , the house has everything you need for your stay with a beautiful view from the garden , the owners responded very quickly to an electrical issue with some sockets upstairs, and overall we had the best time .

We had a lovely stay at Dewars Farm Cottage and this review would have been higher had there not been an issue with the boiler which left us without hot water.

I did message the owner but received no response. Also, the door handle was impossible to lock, which was another issue (perhaps we weren't doing it right but we followed the instructions to a tee and still couldn't get it to work). There was also a problem with ants in the property, they were climbing up the island in the kitchen and getting over food stuffs. I know this can be difficult to deal with in a country house but it did take the gloss of an otherwise lovely stay.

Had a fab few days to enjoy a multi generational family get together.

Beautiful, well equipped property conveniently situated for a great variety of days out. Walks from the door if you don’t want to drive and the hot tub is a bonus.

Amazing property, comfortably accommodates 2 families of 4 staying together, with a spacious living and common area plus a smaller cosy lounge.

Beautifully finished, with nice touches throughout. The electric car charger is a nice bonus - but only if your car is Tesla charger compatible. A couple of minor niggles which would be easy to fix - the tumble dryer filter needs cleaning but can't be removed without tools, the ensuite bathroom folding door would benefit from a handle in the middle on the inside, and the main gate blows open as the locking pin is blocked with gravel. Overall a great property with peace and quiet and lovely facilities, would highly recommend.

We stayed at this lovely holiday home as a family to celebrate New Year and had a wonderful time.

The house was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and exceptionally well equipped. The kitchen in particular had absolutely everything we needed, making it feel like a real home from home. The owners’ attention to detail really stood out — from thoughtful extras to the festive touches, including a Christmas tree . The hot tub was already on and ready for use when we arrived, and the provision of dedicated hot tub towels was a lovely and much-appreciated touch. There were just a few very minor niggles: we could only get the front patio heater to work, and we couldn’t get the outside light by the hot tub to stay on. We also couldn’t get the dryer to work, though this was likely user error rather than a fault with the appliance. As our pup wasn’t allowed upstairs, one of us slept downstairs — it wasn’t as comfortable as a proper bed, but it was ok and didnt detract from the overall stay especially as the large enclosed garden was perfect for throwing a ball. Overall, a beautifully presented, well-thought-out propert. We would certainly consider staying again and would happily recommend it to others.

We booked for a family Christmas 6 adults 2 children and 1 dog.

The cottage is lovely, well equipped and comfortable. Great kitchen facilities and the living room ( which could do with better seating for 8?) is very comfortable with a lovely log fire the owners also put up a Christmas tree

The property itself was very clean, very modern, very comfortable with lots of facilities in the kitchen if you are having a large dinner However we booked this property because of the hot tub and when we arrived it didn't work.

Turning it on actually short circuited the downstairs and left us in the dark. The owners knew about this and yet still didn't tell us before we arrived We also had a plumber come during our stay unannounced who had to fix the shower which meant we we were unable to use it for the duration of our stay Can't fault the cleanliness but if things don't work like they didn't we wouldn't have booked. Not quite the relaxing getaway he wanted unfortunately.

Loverly house and facilities, but unfortunately there are some negatives.

Traffic noise in the bedrooms. Heating pipes bang on start up. For us a party of 9, there were only 4 large plates and place mats? There were no sauce pans. The heating was on a pre- set reduced temperature schedule which you had to remember to over ride twice a day to stay warm.

We had a wonderful stay here.

The cottage was clean and warm and the bathrooms and bedrooms very comfortable. The only improvement we'd suggest is more seating in the lounge. Another sofa is needed to accommodate the number of people staying at the cottage.

Pro’s - pleasant house/home, everything, and I mean everything, that was required to live in the house was covered.

Plenty of parking and well kept grass and driveway. Con’s - down stairs shower/toilet room kept flooding (I’ve since found out this has been mentioned a couple of times in previous reviews for this property). Also the electrics kept tripping out, after fumbling around in the dark, we finally isolated the trip switch for the outside electrics and the electricity then became stable for the rest of the house. Unfortunately due to the electricity issue for the outside of the property we had limited or no use of the hot tub, which was one of the main reasons for booking this property!

Lovely property with every amenity catered for.

Excellent showers and kitchen facilities. Only slight difficulty we had was the gate that needed repairing however once closed it contained the enclosed garden which our dog enjoyed. Though the road seemed close you couldn't hear it much as not too busy and usually easy to get out on to.

Great place for a big group!

The noise of the road is minimal with the triple glazed windows, and the exit of the cottage has been improved with a traffic mirror. We had a lovely time with our family, big kitchen with loads of space to cook and store food!

Very comfy house and well appointed.

Location great for activities for all ages from soft play and pool in Bicester, Story Museum in Oxford, National Trust houses and gardens to the Silverstone Race Circuit. There is a nice local walk from the house in the woodland behind and there's a good playground for kids in Middleton Stoney 5 minutes walk away across a field.

I would like to say the cottage is beautiful everything you could possibly need for your stay.

just a few points the property was not clean on arrival and there appeared to be a problem with the drains, and the door lock system was difficult to lock when leaving to go out anywhere. There is also a main road going past which i think should be mentioned.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and matched the description perfectly.

It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. I would highly recommend this property and would definitely go back again.

The accomodation really is excellent and much bigger than the photos looked. The jacuzzi area was perfection

We had a lovely stay at Dewars cottage.

The place is really child friendly and don't feel this is highlighted enough. There were so many toys, games and books for them. Plus all the outside play equipment. The kitchen is well stocked and really comfortable.

Excellent stay.

We think the kitchen was lacking sufficient cutlery, glasses and crockery for the adults. Would benefit from replacement mattresses on 3 of the 4 the single beds.

Comfortable stay.

Felt that could have done with more cups, glasses plates, cutlery etc. Disappointed that not able to use hot tub Friday night due to not being warm enough.

A well equipped kitchen.

Plenty of room for everyone to eat together. Would have used the outside space more but weather was awful whilst we were there. Nice and warm in side which was good. Only negative was busy road but it didn't effect our stay.

Great house in a lovely area.

Three generations of our family had a lovely time enjoying the house garden and hot tub. Garden enclosed so we felt reasonably safe leaving our medium sized dog to roam the garden freely, but you are close to a fast road so need some caution. Plenty of kitchen equipment, comfortable beds etc. The hot water was a bit hit and miss but we found the extra hour on the system worked well. Totally flooded the downstairs shower room one day (which went in to the kitchen) but owners are trying to sort the problem, when we contacted them. Would recommend you only have 1 shower and leave plenty of time before using it again. 2 other showers upstairs, so not an issue. Overall a great house which we would recommend.

Firstly, thank you we had a fantastic week in the cottage.

We were so lucky with the weather and the outdoor space and play areas were brilliant for the grandchildren. The cottage itself was beautiful and the decor was lovely. The only negatives were that we couldn't turn the lights off at the bottom of the stairs, none of the light switches would turn it off. When we arrived we found a single half a bread stick in the fridge along with a half bottle of water that had been drunk from. When one of our party reclined the sofa the footrest was ingrained with crumbs and debris in the creases and there was a large shard of glass underneath from a broken glass. The final thing was that it should be mentioned about the proximity to a busy road as this can be heard through the night if you need the windows to be open and is constant traffic throughout the day making it difficult to get out from the driveway due to it being on a bend. As previous guests also mentioned the ground floor shower room does flood so we only used that once and then used the upstairs bathrooms. This is just a couple of negatives to let you know about but this didn't impact on our stay at all and 2 Dewars Farm Cottage is a beautiful property.

Hot tub had slimy scum/dirt at water line on walls of hot tub after first use. 2. Had to pick up 5 dog dirt piles that had been there for sometime and then hose the patio to clear dog dirt marks. 3. Kettle is useless - took me 5 minutes to get he led display to work. 4. Cutlery and crockery had food marks on some of them. Had to wash everything before use. 5. House was riddled with cobwebs and spiders. Took 10 minutes to hover all up - this should have been done before our arrival - freaked the children out.

This home is truly amazing.

Was plenty big enough for 7 guests, the kitchen in particular is stunning. The hot tub overlooks a beautiful countryside and is very relaxing. Had issue with heating and hot water but didn't ruin the weekend at all. Owners were very attentive.

House was lovely everything you could possibly want x The shower downstairs is still leaking so can not use floods everywhere We twice had a issue with the locking of the front door and txt and called but no one replied until 7 hours later when we had spent hours fixing the issue

Lovely house with walks straight from the garden.

Perfect for visiting Oxford and the Cotswolds. There was an issue with the downstairs shower which tended to flood but other than that it is very comfortable. The Old Flight House, the Milk Shed (cafes) and the Chequers (pub) all do great food and are within four miles of the house.

Great cottage.

Very clean and comfortable. Lovely furnishings and great outside space. A shame there isn’t more seating in the living room to accommodate all the people staying. Sofa seats 3-4 with one additional chair. There were 7 of us staying so some had to sit on the floor for the evening. Only problem we had was with the downstairs bathroom. The floor is uneven so during showering all the water ran under the toilet and sat in a big puddle and some went under the kitchen floor. All necessary tools where there for us to clear up but it’s worth putting a sign up so people know! We didn’t use this bathroom for the rest of the stay so it didn’t flood again.

The property and grounds are large and spacious and ideal for up to eight people plus a dog.

Beds are very comfortable and kitchen well equipped. The garden has lots to do and the jacuzzi / hot tub is brilliant fun and was a good temperature when we arrived (32C). Lots of nice towels and good quality bedding. The ground floor shower room / toilet was very handy and the washing machine and tumble dryer very good quality. However, there are some problems. The oil fired boiler 'trips' and needs to be reset at least once a day (probably needs a service) and the only indicator is the temperature dropping or no hot water. Some consumable products like liquid soap, dishwasher tabs, washing detergent are minimally provided, so guests need to bring their own or go shopping. The chemicals in the hot tub seemed a little 'strong' on the skin and evaporating in the air. The ground floor shower cubicle leaked quite a bit so needed moping after use. Barely enough cutlery when eating in. Overall we had a great family weekend and would recommend this holiday cottage and would return again.

A fantastic property - Big and spacious and perfect for our family of 9.

The property is located in an amazing location with easy access to motorways, but once you drive through the gates you feel like you're in the middle of the countryside. The house is clean and modern and it is clear a lot of thought has been put into décor. Hot tub was big and very clean and was used often, even in December weather! We had a truly relaxing time and hope to return again. Thank you!

Wonderful place, however couple of the beds need mattress toppers as uncomfortable and some full size mugs would be great.

This was the perfect property for a family and friends group gathering.

Hi, We really enjoyed our stay, and it is a lovely, well appointed property.

Just a couple of pointers that would be useful; Could do with clearer instructions regarding how to deal with the rubbish/recycling? Unfortunately, not all local authorities deal with such things in the same manner. Also, notwithstanding that the instructions were in a folder, we couldn't get to operate the Rayburn oven? Some user friendly guide would be very handy.

We have just spent an amazing week at Dewars farm cottage and I can honestly say I cannot fault a single thing.

From the moment we first booked our stay right up until our last day. We had fab weather and spent most of our time in the hot tub and watching movies on the outdoor cinema screen. Our 2 dogs enjoyed there stay too and had lots of fun on there walks. We will definitely be returning again to this property in the future.

A great place to stay for larger families.

Ideally located close to Bicester village complex and motorways. Very well appointed and all mod cons z Definitely worth a visit
