    “Pheasant cottage is a lovely old stone cottage in a beautiful ‘chocolate box’ village.”

    It is well maintained with everything needed for a comfortable, enjoyable holiday. We stayed in the middle of a heatwave, but with the thick stone walls, the cottage remained reasonably cool. It is close to many attractions and a great base to visit the Cotswolds and Oxford. I would definitely recommend this property.

The property

Pheasant Cottage is a fabulous period barn set in the gorgeous Cotswold corner of Old Minster Lovell, very much the traditional village.

The barn is spacious with good size rooms throughout all light and bright and with lovely views in all directions.

It is also presented immaculately clean and fresh.

You are located up a little gravel track with fields to either side of the barn, including one which is for your use - so you can stretch your legs or simply sit and admire the lovely Cotswolds roof tops in the distance.

The barn has a private terrace to the rear, a real sun trap and tip top for a morning cuppa!

At the end of the drive you can sample some quintessential English scenes with the village cricket pitch (a safe distance away!) some beautiful cottages in another direction or alternatively the delightful Swan pub 5 minutes walk away.

For the more active there are excellent walks directly from your door including the Old Minster Lovell Hall (English Heritage).

MINSTER LOVELL

Witney 4 miles; Carterton 2 miles.

Minster Lovell is a village and civil parish in West Oxfordshire on the River Windrush. It is popular for its ruin Minster Lovell Hall, famed for allegedly being the place the ninth Lord Lovell’s remains were found in an underground room. It is often visited now for picnics by the river or long walks through the surrounding meadows, as well as the dovecote nearby. It has several local county inns, including The White Hart and the Old Swan which provide excellent food and real ale. There are public footpaths that cross the field to the parish church or across the river to a small weir where local children often go to swim. Nearby attractions include the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Kilkenny Lane Country Park, both within a short driving distance. Minster Lovell is located 4 miles west of Witney and 2 miles east of Carterton.
