“We had a fabulous time here.”

Location is great, everything is within walking distance and central for travelling further afield. Property well kept and has everything you need. Lovely welcome package especially for our Pooch Poppy, she loved the treats. It was nice sitting out in the courtyard in the evenings, so peaceful. We wouldn't hesitate to book again in the future, thank you

“Lovely property, great setting, warm and cosy.”

. we had flowers, milk, tea bags and sugar laid on by the owners as well as a bottle of wine! Our only gripe was that as the owners flat is directly above, it was very noisy, I presume they have wooden floors and they creak a lot but you can hear everything, and it was very intrusive at times, including constant footsteps and using a roll along hoover on Sunday morning... Impossible to relax properly.

“The owners met us with a very friendly welcome and showed us to the cottage and showed us how to use the cooker.”

It was very clean and well equipped in a very quiet location but only a few mins walk from the main street in Burford. Parking was not an issue with on street parking but the owners were happy for us to unload and load our car on the driveway. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area. We had a few drinks in the Barford house pub and a great meal in The Golden Pheasant. We would definitely recommend this property and happily visit again

“Thoroughly enjoyed my first Christmas away from home here, decided to make a change and relax in a different setting, the location is perfect, the property so cozy, also equipped with everything needed for a stay, the extra touch of Christmas decorations along with flowers and wine was a real treat.”

“Had a lovely week pottering around the Cotswolds.”

The flat is in a great location for all the amenities in Burford and the surrounding area. Whilst not huge, the flat is well laid out and equipped and more than ample for a week long break. It's probably more a wintery issue but my only very minor feedback would be that a couple of coat hooks would be a really useful addition for when everything is wet. Otherwise, it's very hard to fault and I would definitely recommend.

Very clean, with everything you need while on holiday. Nice touch of flowers, milk and wine on arrival. Location is lovely and only a short walk from Burford. Parking available on the street. We had a lovely time there and would recommend.

“We loved the location being close to the beautiful town and in easy reach of other Cotswolds towns and villages.”

The apartment was very clean and modern with everything we needed for a weeks stay. Our only slight issue was not being able to park next to the house, especially when it was dark and raining. It was nice to be welcomed by the owner on our first night. We enjoyed our stay, thank you, merry Christmas!

The only thing we needed and couldn't find was a pair of kitchen scissors. Would definitely recommend a stay here. Owners very friendly and Mandy recommended a great place for a walk with our dog including a stop off for coffee and cake mid way.

“Just set back off the road so lovely and quiet at night.”

Easy walking into town to great pubs and shops. Easy to drive to other cotswold villages which is well worth while. Parking on the road easy to do as only loading/unloading at the property. Would definitely stay again when in the uk.

The booking process was good, with a few timely reminders and clear directions about finding the property and key safe. The owners were welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. We appreciated the welcoming treats for us and our dog. We loved Burford and surrounding countryside. The local information and small guide books were helpful. We had 2 excellent meals at the Royal Oak.

“Nice compact appartment , perfect location for Burford high st but quiet ,wonderful walks from the door, compact but adequate for two and a dog , very comfy bed ,shower room adequate , plenty of hot water but unfortunately the Central heating wasn`t working which made the bathroom fresh !”

“I read previous reviews and there was some mention of noise from upstairs but I can honestly say that this did no impact on our stay at all.”

The hosts were very good and very approachable and were we to come to this area again we would choose to stay here. The setting is beautiful, very calm and serene yet only a fe minutes walk from the town. Lovely location and lovely place. Very dog friendly which is important for us.

“I was contacted to say we could arrive earlier than 6pm which was a good start to our holiday.”

Accurate directions and where we could park also given. Very impressed with the property, location and cleanliness. We met one of the owner's when taking our dog for a walk ! Barry introduced himself the following morning with a warm welcome . Flowers, wine and treats for the dog left for us as well as milk, very nice touch. in the property there were good facilities , information on places to visit and pubs and places to eat with personal recommendations. Although we had to cut our visit short due to my ill health, I would like to visit again.

“A beautiful cottage very clean and well presented.”

Very helpful owners. Super location. Unfortunately the oven was extremely difficult to use. The tv remote control didn’t work. The bed was very soft and uncomfortable and the duvet very noisy and crackly? Also we could hear lots of noise from upstairs . A shame because if these things were fixed it would be amazing. Also if you are with Vodafone there is no reception in the cottage and very limited reception in the village.

“We really enjoyed our stay, only downside was that there is no gate on the entrance, I unloaded and loaded outside in the parking so never felt the need to drive into the courtyard, and although my dog is really well behaved always had to accompany him when he went outside.”

“A fab location for exploring.”

Barry and Mandy were very friendly and helpful. Small apartment, but it was just the right size for us and it was well equipped. Shared courtyard was OK, it missed having the privacy of our own garden. It didn't spoil the experience though because the other guests were friendly. Very quite and peaceful location. Burford is a beautiful village and is well served by lots of interesting shops and pubs.

“The accommodation was clean and comfortable, but rather dark, especially the sitting area and the bedroom.”

We had to have lights on all day, even when it was sunny. The mill stream was lacking in water, so no waterfall. There are no views from the accommodation as it just opens onto an enclosed courtyard, and no garden. Parking on Witney Street was not always easy as Burford is a very busy place. The owners were very helpful and provided extras, including milk and wine. We are happy to recommend the apartment, as it's in a good position near the centre of Burford but very peaceful.

“The location was lovely and set up of the apartment was great.”

The owners very nice people too. We were impressed the double glazing meant we didn’t hear the river, which was quite loud, but what we soon realised is there is no sound proofing between the apartment and the one above. So I am sorry to say that the time spent in the apartment was marred by noise, whether from pets or people. We didn’t complain as what can you do about people just living normally and moving about their home, but it really does come through very loudly and they maybe need to invest in making some sound proofing between floors. We only stayed for 2 days so just got on with it, but had it been longer it would have been more problematic.

“This was a lovely cottage, first class amenities and kitted out to a high standard.”

A great location just off the main High Street and for visiting the cotswolds. The only downsides were there being no enclosed space outside to keep my dog safe and having to find parking on the street as no parking was allowed on the property although there was sufficient space. These may have been things I overlooked when booking. But all in all we were well catered for and had a lovely time there

“The location of the cottage was perfect - on a quiet road 5 minutes walk from Burford’s main high street with all the shops and restaurants.”

It is well positioned as a base for walking or cycling and exploring the Cotswolds. We had a couple of great walks one straight from the cottage and the other a 10 minute drive to the start. The cottage was cleverly designed and beautifully clean. It was compact but very comfortable and just right for 2 people. The cottage was very well equipped with everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable. On arrival there was milk in the fridge, plenty of tea coffee and sugar, a delicious bowl of fruit on the table as well as a beautiful vase of lilies. Barry the owner was extremely welcoming and helpful. Thank you.

“Obviously the cottage lacked all the convenience of home but it provided an excellent, convenient and relatively economic facility that allowed us to be where we wanted to be and when.”

It’s tastefully decorated and comfortable. I could hear the owners upstairs at times when they went to the bathroom which seemed to be above the bedroom. Otherwise a lovely location in quaint Burford. We would come back.

“Mill Race is the perfect accomodation for a break in the Cotswolds.”

Situated just outside(5 minute walk) of the beautiful town of Burford, the owners are incredibly helpful and the place is pristine. A really enjoyable holiday visiting locations but we also looked forward to going back to Mill Race to relax in comfort.

The only slight niggle for me was that the very cleverly taken photos of Mill Race didn't give any indication how restricted the shower cabinet was. As someone of larger size it made showering very difficult and ,had I been aware at the time of booking, we would probably have plumped for a different property

“Mill Race is fairly newly refurbished, clean and very well equipped & we have been to Burford twice before.”

The only gripe we had was that the soundproofing between the ground floor cottage & the over-sailing parts of the first floor owners house was very poor. We could hear every step, phone conversations & even sounds from their bathroom when the owners (or the people looking after the house) were in upstairs. That aside we had a nice stay & we'll definitely be back to Burford.

A short distance from Burford's renowned (and frequently photographed) High Street is Mill Race, a quaint, contemporary, and incredibly welcoming ground-floor flat.

The millstream, which has a stunning cascade, flows beneath the mill next to the flat.

Offering the best of both worlds, it is very peaceful and remote but only a 5-minute walk from Burford town centre with its chic shops, superb selection of pubs, and restaurants in one direction, and lovely countryside walks just a few hundred yards in the other.

BURFORD

Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, it is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located midway between Oxford and Cheltenham, it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit. The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits! With little change over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all within ten miles.
