“WOW! We have just returned from the most wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage.”

This was out first time in the Cotswolds and Stable Cottage, the owners Julie and David, Molly and their gorgeous dogs Sheba and Sid made our experience even more wonderful, and they gave us so much information on the local area, and places to visit which was invaluable to us. The cottage was everything that we could hope for, old with the most wonderful features within, a lovely garden area with seating that we could enjoy with the lovely weather that we had. There were horses that we were welcomed to see if we wanted to, which we did, and they are beautiful, and we were free to see them whenever we wanted, and they were only across the yard. The cottage is within the land of the owners and this did not in any way affect our stay, and we enjoyed seeing the family daily and there was no intrusion being so near to them. The cottage is up a very long lane away from the roads and so quiet and idylic, in the middle of fields and miles of walks that we enjoyed to neighboring villages. We have booked again for next year, and we would not look to book and stay anywhere else despite traveling all around the Cotswolds, and seeing many places, this is the place for us. We would like to address the last review as this is not the experience that we found. Comments regarding the farmers being present most of the day, yes it is a working farm, yes the stables are close by, however, we had absolutely no privacy issues with this, or any impact on our stay. We loved talking to the family daily, and they are absolutely lovely, and could not do enough for us. We had no stale smells in the cottage, and windows were clean and open before our arrival, and several diffusers throughout the cottage, not to remove any smells as there were none. We could read the oven dials fine, there were none missing that we could see. The sofas were not dirty, someone maybe a guest had put a hot cup on the velvet sofa which had marked it, and yes there was a little hole in the sofa which did not impact us using the clean sofa and clean cushions to enjoy. The double bed was comfortable and we had no issues with the mattress, however, the owners told us they were awaiting a new mattress, and we did not feel the need to strip the bed back at all and have a look. The dogs we loved seeing every day, and if you did not want to interact with them you could just ignore them, or continue with your day, they would just wander off. To all future bookings look at the 4/5* reviews, as our review is a true representation of the property and our stay, and the most wonderful owners, their daughter and their dogs, you made our time and stay extremely enjoyable. About the location

MORETON-IN-MARSH

Stow-on-the-Wold 4.5 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 16 miles; Cheltenham 23 miles; Oxford 31 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
