“Lovely place, with everything you need for a wonderful relaxed weekend.”

The location is perfect, it's so quiet & peaceful. The views from the back of the house are lovely & the added bonus of the wildlife behind the house is a joy. The house is very comfortable, even with the stairs to upstairs. It's feels very cosy in the living room. Everything we needed was there, well equipped kitchen, we enjoyed cooking in there, lovely bathroom with a very good shower & comfortable beds. Sitting out in the garden, looking across the valley was the perfect place to chill with ...

Everything we needed was there, well equipped kitchen, we enjoyed cooking in there, lovely bathroom with a very good shower & comfortable beds. Sitting out in the garden, looking across the valley was the perfect place to chill with a glass of wine in the evening. The welcome pack was a very lovely touch, & the towels were folded so lovely. All in all our weekend break in Red Fawn Cottage was really lovely & we would defiantly recommend this property & would most certainly come back once again. Thank you so much.

“Lovely cottage with a fantastic rear patio and long, enclosed garden with gorgeous views.”

Gets the full sun in the mornings so perfect for summer breakfasts outdoors in good weather and ideal if you have dogs. Well equipped for cooking at home, and some nice welcome nibbles on arrival. Lovely towels and bed linen and good pressure in the shower. The stairs up to the bedrooms ARE steep and narrow - as mentioned in other reviews - so not recommended if you have any mobility issues. Some tiny maintenance issues - one of the four patio wooden chairs was broken, so only outside seating for three people, broken/missing clothes hook in rear bedroom (important as wardrobe provision is limited), front bedroom window stay missing its pin (so window can only be very wide open, or closed - not so good in hot weather) and the rope handrails on the steep stairs would benefit from being a little tighter. Two small but very useful additions would be a second clothes/towel hook in the bathroom and a larger tray in the kitchen for carrying things down to the dining/living room and patio on the lower floor. However, these are minor things (and all easily fixed). The cottage is delightful and we would happily return. Seeing a large herd of deer in the field beyond the garden was an added bonus on our first evening.

“The property position and parking excellent….”

It was clean ,warm and comfortable, in all aspects The.Cottage would benefit from additional china, there was just two of us staying but had there been more, ie four people it would have been difficult if you decided to cook and eat in. Hence we never used the dishwasher. But overall it was value for the price that we paid and would revisit. As a bonus the wildlife around the property was astounding

“Lovely little cottage ,ideal place for touring around the Cotswolds.”

Very handy for Blockley village shop and pubs. Stairs could be an issue if you have mobility issues or young children. The built in dog cage in the lounge was perfect for our dog’s comfort. We would highly recommend.

“The house its self was lovely but the maintenance and some areas had not been cleaned The issues were Glass on the patio Dog mess bin full from the previous people Barbecue filthy all over Clear cylinder vacuum full of dirt & Hair Both kitchen curtains hanging down and had come unfixed Its a shame as the house owners have been let down by the people maintaining it .”

We did complain so the next day someone came to clean the glass barbque and dog mess bin

“Lovely location with superb views across the valley with a massive herd of deer in the field at the bottom of the garden.”

Access almost directly opposite the front door into a field that's ideal for dog walking. Pub, village shop and café all within 10 minutes walking distance. Many other villages and pubs/restaurants within 20 minutes car ride. Very comfortable cottage with really lovely beds. Good use of the available space, but please do take note of all the warnings about the stairs up to the bedrooms. Also, I know it's in the description that there isn't one, but a washing machine would be useful. Lovely lounge/dining area on the lower ground floor and the built in dog cage under the stairs is a fantastic idea. Couple of minors/suggested improvements are: 1) While generally clean (bedsheets were absolutely crisp and clean) there were some very large, old cobwebs in the corner of the living room and above the window in the front bedroom. Definitely not the kind that has appeared overnight, obviously been there a while. Also, thick dust on the TV stand and also the wood burner. Clearly not been touched in a long time. 2) Curtains in the kitchen and front bedroom hanging partially off the rails with broken hooks. 3) In the bathroom, the shower head is very badly limescaled and actually could do with replacing. The toilet flush handle is unsecured. And the big no no, the toilet seat itself is loose. I believe I've read other older reviews that mention these last 2 points but nothing has been done. 4) Dog owners beware, there's a small gap in the fencing halfway down the garden below the conifer hedging on the left. Other than these fairly minor points that certainly didn't spoil the holiday and could be easily rectified, we had a fantastic stay. The welcome pack is a particularly nice touch. Thank you!

“Excellent cottage.”

This is our 2nd visit to the property, we will visit again. We did have a slight problem with the garden, there is a large hole in the left hand side of the fence. Our dog ended up in the next door neighbours garden then the field at the back of the garden. It’s quite hard to see the hole as a tree covers it, but our small dog managed to find it.

Immaculately clean, comfortable beds. The owners clearly make a great effort to make your stay enjoyable. The stairs to the bedrooms are steep and would not be suitable for people with limited mobility. But that aside, very hard to find fault.

“The cottage is well appointed, clean and comfortable in a great location for walks and has wonderful viewsaccross the valley, very quiet too.”

However, I know others have mentioned it but the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep (a rail at the top would make it less dangerous perhaps) and be aware there are no bathroom facilities on the top bedroom floor. I was impressed with the comfortable beds, nice linen and pleasant furnishings and well stocked tea, coffee, milk, biscuits on arrival was welcome. Our main disappointment was how poorly the garden was maintained. There was the large bin next to the outside table (perhaps have a neat bin store?)Messy garden bags and a pot with dead plants on the patio which has seen better days. Given the spectacular view and the sun trap on the patio, with a little bit of care it could be wonderful.

The property was good however due to the cancellation of the original property booked at very short notice (3 days) before arrival, we incurred extra costs and inconvenience as our original chosen property was within walking distance of a wedding we were attending therfore meaning cabs had to be used at an extra cost of £40 also for the rest of our stay we were unable to walk to restaurants etc as we had planned, it is unacceptable for a booking to be cancelled at such short notice this also inconvenienced a dog sitter we had arranged for the duration of the wedding

“The cottage was lovely in lots of respects , as described on the listing .”

Lovely location great local pub , The Great Western with a great landlord and lovely food . Local shop that's very convenient too . Beds really comfy all well appointed as a home . Overall lovely and would recommend. Only a few niggles and would prefer to have a direct convo than put public, as only niggles and didn't massively affect our stay . Parking- this isn't ideal . We arrived after a long journey in the rain and could not get anywhere near the cottage . We had to park ages away which if you are not fit to be lugging your stuff then this is a deal breaker . This didn't get any better as we stayed there . Could you not at least get a cone for day of arrival ? And the day of leaving. Few maintenance things , the toilet handle is loose and needs fixing as this pinches your hand . The toilet seat is also loose and needs securing . The bathroom is lovely and shower great . The stairs altho mentioned as steep , they are very steep and the hessian carpet a little slippy on them in socks - might need a look at . The heating was insane while we were there , and not being able to adjust was limiting . It was sooooooo hot everywhere . Even when we turned radiators off . The heating seemed to be on all night aswell . We do worry about your bills ! Only last comment was the downstairs did smell of dogs ...not sure if the previous people had dogs in and it was wet days. It wasn't a major thing but just to mention . And to mention again ,these are just niggles as the place is lovely and we had a lovely cosy time and I would definitely recommend , they are more things that may need just attending to for it to be perfect ! “Lovely stay at Red Fawn cottage in the beautiful village of Blockley.”

Very quiet location and we had a great view at the back of the house of the herd of deer in the evening. Used the walking books provided- thank you. As listed- steep stairs over 3 levels so concentration needed. Everything we needed in the cottage. Beds were super comfy. Made use of the community shop and ate breakfast every day at the cafe! Local pubs very friendly so overall a lovely short break to recharge!

“The stairs to the bedrooms are extremely steep and I feel a solid handrail would be safer than the rope ones which are currently in place.”

The property was superb and well furnished. The outside seating showed rattan furniture in pictures but we found wooden folding chairs instead. Just a minor point as we really enjoyed our stay and hope to return! Thank you

“A beautiful cottage, sympathetically renovated to provide a cosy and comfortable holiday bolthole.”

The layout over 3 floors was fine for us (family with a teenager and dog) but the steep staircase to bedrooms would not be suitable for elderly guests. There's a further staircase down to the living area and extensive garden which was lovely to sit in and enjoy on a sunny day. The cottage is ideally situated in the small, friendly village of Blockley within easy reach of nearby Broadway, Chipping Campden etc. and some excellent dog walks. We had a lovely, relaxing stay at your property, thank you.

“We had a great stay at the cottage.”

It is in a great position in the village, walking distance to the pub and village shop/cafe and offers easy access to the wider Cotswolds area. A couple of small issues on arrival (un-emptied bins and dirty outdoor furniture) were quickly remedied the same day by the management team. Would recommend that the property description mentions the fact the property has no washing machine. Although it is not listed as an amenity I had missed this and had packed assuming we would be able to do some washing during our stay. Otherwise a lovely stay.

“The steepness of the staircase and access out of and into the bedrooms was precarious and not accurately described.”

The outside furniture was dirty and tatty, and insufficient for a 4 person stay at the property. A second front door key should have been provided to allow separate couples east access. Keys should be on a key ring. Otherwise the cottage was well situated a short walk from facilities, and generally in good order.

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday.
