This is a lovely cottage in a quiet location and ideal for those wanting to explore this popular area.
The cottage has an open plan living area with well-equipped kitchen and dining area, with a sitting area having a woodburning stove to snuggle up in front of, if the weather gets colder.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms, both of which have a TV and there is also a family shower room.
Outside, there is a private patio, where you can put your feet up and enjoy this stunning part of the country, ideal for the country loving holiday maker.
Great Tew, often described as one of England's prettiest villages is full of character cottages and has an excellent pub and a village shop.
Chipping Norton is really interesting and has numerous historic buildings.
Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water are all close by.
Alternatively, take a trip to the riverside town of Banbury, Blenheim Palace or the university city of Oxford.
The birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Warwick, with its magnificent castle, also make great family days out.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage, and was a great base for trips around the Cotswolds.
Inside the property was comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen is well equipped and all appliances were in good order. The lounge furniture a little tired, but still very comfy. Lounge TV is on the way out as when first turned on half the screen is scrambled for several minutes before clearing. Worth replacing with smart TV to allow visitors to watch streaming services in future. The property is listed as dog friendly but no dogs are allowed upstairs or on furniture and this is not shown on the listing. A poorly fitted stair gate was at base of stairs but a strong dog would bypass this. Some dog owners may struggle with this if dogs are used to sleeping upstairs. There is one water bowl, so defo need to bring your own for their food. The hot tub was very clean and well used during our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing each evening after long walks each day. Birds were nesting nearby on the guttering so we could watch the adult birds flying back and forth. The garden is to the front of the property and is fully enclosed, which meant our dog was lovely and safe whilst we relaxed in the hot tub. The garden trees and shrubs were quite overgrown and could defo do with a solid cut back. The garden furniture - sofa and bench were dirty and also need a thorough clean, as we did not want to use them in that state. We did have to ask for the nettles to side of the hot tub to be cut back on the 2nd day to better access the hot tub lid bars, which the owners did very swiftly. Overall this is a lovely cottage and we enjoyed a relaxing time here with our dog. A solid 4 star stay.

I wished you mentioned about the tv to us as well as the nettles in the garden we could have looked into this and replaced it as we didn’t know, as it’s never been mentioned before until now on your review. Re garden, if we keep it cut down and/or back we are told it’s not private enough? So unfortunately we can’t win. I can promise we’ve tried both ways. Re the garden furniture it is in the pipe line to be replaced. Dogs are very welcome here and people often ask us if they can put throws on the furniture for their four legged friends and it’s always been a yes of course! So glad you enjoyed your stay, the hot tub is a firm favourite of our guests and watching the house martins nesting at this time of year. *Just been to check TVs and all are working perfectly.

Lovely cottage in an ideal location.
Private parking is easily accessed. Cottage is in a quiet rural setting. Property is exactly as listed in advert. Very clean with all facilities necessary for a lovely stay- evening down to the provision of tea, sugar etc. Perfect size accommodation for a couple. Outdoor space is great. Private secluded garden with hot tub which was very well maintained and very much appreciated on a hot summers evening. Owners are very helpful - all key and direction info sent over before our stay. Information books in the cottage for hot tub etc are very informative. Owners live in the next property but are not at all invasive. Would definitely recommend this property and we will be returning in the future.

Bbq provided Tv signal very hit or miss
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately we do not provide a BBQ? Do not understand the tv as all our properties have Freesat Tv and never had any complaints before regarding it. If you had contacted us during your stay we would have came over to have a look and probably sorted it.
What a lovely place to stay and in a great location - rural and peaceful, but with everything easily accessible and all amenities available in nearby Chipping Norton.
Facilities were great and well thought out. Would’ve preferred a bigger bed, but maybe that’s just personal preference.

Peaceful location, only comment is the hot tub was lovely but having the neighbourinv hot tub only a few feet away meant we alternated our time in there to have/allow them some privacy. Would still book again!

Cow Byre is a lovely cottage with lovely hot tub and front garden - perfect for our 2 dogs.
Loved the log burner, sofa and lovely spacious bedroom/bathroom upstairs with nice welcome gifts for my husband's birthday. Central location - not far from Chipping Norton and Great Tew and the Cotswolds in general. The only things I would mention is the dripping tap in the kitchen was annoying (reported to owners) and thicker duvets in the bedrooms would have made it more comfortable.

A very comfortable holiday cottage in a quiet location.
The furnishings and decor were individual and bold, not the generic 'bland' often encountered. Owners were unobtrusive but available if needed. Garden was secure allowing the dog to potter around without close supervision. Hot tub was kept clean and warm and is easily big enough for four. A new cover is on order which will make things easier re opening/closing the tub.
Another great stay very clean and comfortable electric car charger a real plus the lovely lady who was looking after things was a delight to talk to kitchen was well equipped with everything you need

The cottage is beautiful and the location, though very remote, is lovely.
We stayed in September so the duvets could have done with being a little thicker but I'm sure they will be by the much colder months. We were missing a tea towel which was a minor nuisance. We did use the hot tub and the water clouded (due to us being in and out of the water) but we were happy with it. The owner was very curt with us the second morning and changed the water which meant we couldn't use the hot tub on the second evening which was a real shame as that was the reason we booked.
Hi thank you for your feedback. There are plenty of tea towels in the drawer under the oven. Re the hot tub, we have to check the quality of the water everyday and the readings that it was giving out on the test I couldn’t allow you to get back in it without it being drained and refilled. Unfortunately there are rules we have to follow and very sorry if you thought we were curt, but I only said it’s against my principles to let you in a tub like that and I personally wouldn’t of got back into a tub that colour.
Cow Byre was very clean, well equipped kitchen.
As a hot tub owner I found the tub to be very disappointing, the lid in awful condition no lifter for the cover and the controls should have been same side as the steps. Also very over looked. The Log burner superb only issue was after the initial log package left couldn’t purchase more as was told it was being cleaned out the next day which is odd when I booked this you expect what is on offer at the cottage you should be able to use. We did have a pleasant stay apart from those issues.
Hello, thank you for your review. Re the lifter, unfortunately things break. New lid and lifter are on order and like most things there is a wait for them to be made to order, delivered and fitted. Re the fire, this was Sunday late afternoon/evening, and we did say unfortunately this wouldn’t be possible as the chimney sweep was due the next morning and the flue needs to be cool cleaned and ready for the sweep. This is a legal requirement that has to be made for us to stay open. So unfortunately this is beyond our control and very sorry if it impeded your stay, we do try very hard to fit maintenance around our guests but it not always possible.

We had a very enjoyable week at Cow Byre.
Accommodation was very comfortable & quiet & was as described. It was ideally placed for our daily trips which included to Burford (we had a brilliant day at the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens which is thoroughly recommended), Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon & Warwick Castle. We found some nice pubs for our evening meals nearby - special mentions for The Fox (were we had a lovely Sunday roast - booking appeared essential) & especially to The Boxing Hare (a bit more expensive than some, but definitely worth it). Thank you Julie & Jo for a lovely stay & for the welcome gifts.
Lovely cottage in a fantastic location for a few days away and the garden was great too and was secure so the dogs could potter about.
Made daily use of the hot tub.
Nice welcome gift, ovengloves in kitchen would have been useful.
Wardrobe space in the second room would have helped.

Beautiful cottage in the heart of the countryside but convenient enough to explore the area.
Cottage was immaculate and the welcome pack was very kind and thoughtful. A real gem - especially with the hot tub. Great that our four legged friends are welcomed too. Memorable moment was when packing the car, left boot up to go and get the dog and came back to find a very friendly chicken in the boot

This property was very clean and tidy.
It had everything we needed and was generally really lovely. The hot tub was certainly a real treat. The only issue we had was that although dogs were allowed at the property, we were not allowed to leave them alone and we only found this out when we arrived. It didn’t say this on the listing. This may not be an issue for some but for us it was important. We went for my husband’s birthday so we wanted to be able to go out for a nice meal to celebrate, but this would mean taking our two dogs with us. One of our dogs isn’t great in pubs/cafes so it ended up being quite an inconvenience for us. I understand the reasons for this rule but it would have been good to know in advance rather than when we arrived.

Had a very enjoyable stay at Cow Byre the property had everything you need for a good break in a lovely part of the country.
Nothing negative to say at all about our stay . Visited several National Trust properties in the area and enjoyed our two visits to the Falkland Arms in Great Tew. Would certainly stay again in the near future.

Lovely cosy cottage well equipped has everything you need
We had a fantastic stay at Cow Byre, very tranquil, comfortable and clean, perfect location for us as we like walking and getting out and about.

Lovely house, pretty much in the sticks, nothing particularly in walking distance.
Hot tub a great feature however the chlorine can be overpowering at times. Whilst it is understood why the beds have a waterproof mattress protector on but be warned- they properly make you sweat at night which was pretty horrible and damaged our sleep. The house is missing a couple of things :- black out curtains in the bedrooms, more cleaning facilities (very little washing soap and surface spray available) but also some more baking trays for food.
Thank you for your review. Yes we are in the countryside, so unless your into walking and exploring our beautiful surroundings (like many of guests do) you will need a car to get to our nearest town which is 5 miles away. Re the waterproof protectors we’ve never had this comment before in the 8 years we’ve been trading, they are regularly changed and they are there for a purpose to protect our mattresses. Re cleaning facilities, there is plenty around the place to keep you going. There are baking trays, cooking dishes etc too.

We felt right at home as soon as we got there, and the hot tub and woodfire was such a lovely bonus as we arent used to that at home. The instruction booklets and guides to the walks were very clear, we managed to fit a couple in weather permitting. The cottage was very clean and it was nice to get away from busy London life. Thanks so much again we definitely will recommend this cottage and will hopefully be back soon!

The low garden fence may be an issue for some but the owners have bushes,shrubs growing that help. Laying in a hot tub watching and hearing the birds was a great experience!

The welcome gifts were an added bonus and the hot tub is a great to ease your achey legs after a long day walking round. Perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds and a wonderful relaxing environment. Most Cotswold tourist hotspots within 40 mins drive. Would definitely book again.

Very well insulated but made it very warm in the bedrooms at night.
Also, some cushions for outside furniture would have been good. Lovely to receive bottle of fizz and eggs on arrival. Good information available on surrounding areas. Provision of EV charger an added bonus. Overall, a great place to stay.

Beautiful cottage in a very quiet, peaceful area.
Extremely clean inside and all the essentials needed for a break away. You would never know pets can stay here as it was so clean inside and fresh smelling. The hot tub was lovely and the owners super friendly. Highly recommended.

Broadly a good stay in a lovely cottage.
A couple of areas where things could have been better; the first being the kettle which was encrusted with limescale and upon reporting this, a new was delivered by the owners (at least we think it was as no introductions were made), we were annoyed as we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience and the owners had to go ‘into town’ and out of their way to get one. Secondly, the high chair was absolutely filthy and not clear when the last time it was cleaned properly. Finally, there was a large overhanging palm tree in the garden next door which almost completely blocked the path to the cottage, not easy to navigate carrying a 17 month old and all of the necessary equipment.
Hello, the kettle was replaced and sorted as soon as it was reported, unfortunately we have hard water in this area and keeping up with the limescale is a nightmare! When brought over there was no answer at the door, as you was in the car ready to go out for the day. Sorry if I didn’t introduce my self and believe us nothing is an inconvenience. Re the high chair, sometimes people use it without telling us and then put it away under the stairs so it looks like it hasn’t been used. Re the tree, we are fully aware it needs trimming etc and will be in hand. Many thanks
We were expecting basic essentials such as a few pots, pans and dishes but wow, so much more than i expected, you had everything we needed and more.
freezer is so handy , fridge perfect size even a slow cooker! The place was soooo clean and there was so much space in the barn conversion for me , partner and dog. You can hardly hear traffic the location is lovely, yes it sfurther away from places we visited but, it was nice to get away from everything for the week

We visited so many places in the surrounding areas. When we first arrived we noticed the cottage was on a country lane a bit further out from the centre of the village but this wasn’t a problem! We visited Chipping Norton a few times where there’s some lovely restaurants and free parking. We would definitely stay again! Thank you
The house was lovely clean and welcoming and very well equipped.
However it’s worth considering the height of the fences between the garden. They are very low - even by the entrance to the properties and by the hot tub leaving no privacy at all - clear uncovered trellis did little to alleviate this. This left us unwilling to use the garden when other guests were around. One of our dogs doesn’t like strangers and found being able to see people over the the low fences very anxiety inducing and our other dog who is calm and chilled also found the comings and goings of strangers very over stimulating. A higher fence would have avoided a lot of this. It’s a real shame as the property is really lovely but the inability of relax in the garden being so overlooked affected our inability to enjoy the weekend fully.
This is very unusual to hear as all our gardens are enclosed with a 4ft fences which our guests new and serial returners love the safe gardens for their four legged family and all dogs seem to settle in really well.

! Absolutely wonderful cottage, very well equipped, very clean, lovely enclosed garden, lovely welcome pack. Very comfortable beds, brilliant hot tub BUT OWNERS WATCH EVERY MOVE!! Some sort of family feud!! Unsuspecting holiday makers caught up in it. Told we can't socialize with neighbours ( they are not welcome in our garden) such an uncomfortable atmosphere!!! holidays should be nice and relaxing!! I felt watched and judged the whole week. I just thank God we had such lovely neighbours, they made our holiday. Friends for life. Unlike the owners of these cottages. If they don't want children, say "adults only" probably the worst place we have ever stayed for hospitality! Felt completely spied on all week, they live very close opposite!! I would never, ever, stay with owners on site again. We left the cottage spotless, beds stripped, bleach down toilet. Unfairly treated!! Jen, nick immy, Amelie and patchy the dog. Xx
We've had many families with kids over the years that we've been open, we've never had problem and think it's lovely when they all socialise and get along. We never said you can't socialise with guests (from either side) we just asked for the guest/young boy from next door (not from one of our cottages) not to use the tub as he won't be under our insurance to use it. Each tub is for the cottage guests use only. We also showed the guests how to take the hot tub lid off properly so it doesn't get damaged (all this is in the manual in each property for guests to read on arrival before using the hot tub) it also says in the manual the tubs are checked everyday for your safety (chemicals) and water level which is usually done when guests are out for the day. We also do not spy or watch guests nor is there any family feuds going on. All owners of the three holiday cottages live together in the main farmhouse and we can assure you we get along here and we all happily run the three cottages together here.

It was really clean and we had no concerns during our first post lockdown trip away. We loved the treats left for us on arrival including the dog biscuits for our four legged guest. Great location with plenty to do in the area but also lovely to come back on a night and have a soak in the hot tub.

The owners are very thoughtful with a great eye for detail. The cottage was spotlessly clean. We felt confident staying there.

Wonderful cottage with everything you need in a central but peaceful location & the hot tub was a relaxing luxury. Fantastic hosts who left a welcome present for us and the dogs. Highly recommended & we would love to return.

In particular they don't mirror accurately the great space in the lounge/diner. The log burner was not necessary as the central heating was more than adequate. One point on the downside I think the fact that the roomstat is on the top landing makes it probable that the ground floor will be rather hot. We turned down most radiator thermostats. The table might be a bit small for families with two or more children. It was more than adequate for two.

Loveliest cottage we have ever stayed in.
We loved this little cottage especially the enclosed garden which was great for our cockapoo.
The cottage had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. The welcome gifts were also very much appreciated.
The owners kept us informed all the way and even said we could arrive early as the cottage was ready before 3pm There was a lovely welcome pack and the cottage was very clean and had all we needed with an ideal enclosed garden for the dogs We could have done with a non slip shower mat and the stairs we're a little on the steep side for us
As always our holiday was amazing you never fail to meet our expections .

A very comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.
Couldn’t fault the facilities provided. Garden, although small was pretty and a sun trap and secure for the dogs. Lovely hosts. Many nice places to visit within easy reach. Would highly recommend and would book again.

This is a great cottage - the only things that could be improved are 1) providing more firelighters and ensuring the lighter has enough lighter fluid, 2) providing a sponge to do the washing up (when not needing the dishwasher) and 3) considering a slightly longer double bed (my other half is over six feet tall).
All in all though a lovely stay, loved the wood burner and the kitchen is incredibly well equipped. Also liked that the plug sockets in the kitchen had USB chargers, really handy! Finally, the welcome gift of chocolates and wine was much appreciated :) We'd happily stay again!

Undoubtedly the best designed and equipped cottage in my experience.
Suprisingly roomy---almost Tardis like. Only dislike was that the double bed mattress was too soft and soft edged; but that is my own personal choice. Stairs easy to negotiate and not too steep.Lounge area very comfortable. Enclosed garden small but safe for dogs. Nearest walkable footpaths a little remote and reached along a sometimes busy road with no footpath. Easily found and good off-road parking.

Wonderfully maintained and created Barn conversion with excelent facilities -Ideal quiet location very easy access to eastern cotswolds; local facilities and shops.
We and our two dogs enjoyed a pefect short break --wondeful weather helped --but in any conditions it would be an ideal retreat we shall, probably, return soon
Very well equipped, clean and modern accommodation.
"Treats" on arrival for both the dog and the humans were most welcome. Good TVs, WiFi and even USB charging points. In a relatively remote spot but well placed for visiting much of the Cotswolds, Blenheim, Oxford, Bicester etc. Plenty of local information provided. No major downsides other that the weather wasn't great for April but that's England for you.
Very lovely conversion, very comfortable.
A few more kitchen bits and pieces eg small glasses / tumblers, storage tins etc. but as the place is very new this is as expected. Bathroom / bedroom / lounge all great. Nice touches around home, very thick walls keep out noise. Unsure what building work is going on next door, had vans parked right outside bedroom window most days so may be a problem when work ramps up.
Our only gripe is that the double bed was only standard size.
If you were thinking of replacing the bed I suggest you make it king size, at least. The room's big enough!
