A few things were disappointing for us:
- the reception rooms were quite gloomy despite it being summer, and they were also on the chilly side despite the temperature outside. Yes, the owner did say we could have the heating on, but that shouldn't really be necessary and is not very sustainable.
- the kitchen set-up was quite a challenge for self-catering. Some of the cooking equipment and crockery was much too large for both the dishwasher and sink/drainer (and nothing could go on the ...

- the kitchen set-up was quite a challenge for self-catering. Some of the cooking equipment and crockery was much too large for both the dishwasher and sink/drainer (and nothing could go on the drainer until the sink was no longer needed!). Whilst mismatching crockery can be funky, sometimes it is nice to have matching sets of four especially if you are trying to be fair with wine!
- the fridge was missing a shelf suitable for bottles of milk, wine etc.
- the sofa was uncomfortable for anything longer than 10 minutes or so -quite low down, and possibly it's had its day.
We saw from the visitors book that the property has been let since c2012, so it may be that it's just in need of a refresh. Might be worth the owners staying there for a 'holiday' themselves to experience the facilities through customers' eyes...
