Super location and comfortable facilities, very enjoyable stay

Terrific location, very friendly people.

Loved the cottage. Would have benefited from a second toilet. Overall very happy with decision to go there.

Had a lovely stay at the old stables, great accommodation in a beautiful setting, Rob and Tracey were very welcoming, loads to do and see close by, walks from the door around the lake, Ross on wye just 10 minutes drive and golf course next door.

Beautiful cottage, the photos don't do it justice, it's set in Beautiful surroundings very relaxing and quite.

Had the best time at the old stables.

It was a lovely location and property. There are a lot of shops and stuff a short drive away. We went for Christmas and the owner had decorated the house with a tree and decorations, as well as left us some wine and a turkey tray. It was very thoughtful!

A beautifully situated property overlooking a lake in a peaceful and remote location.

Very light, spacious, clean and well presented accommodation. Absolutely perfect for our requirements on this occasion.

The lake view from the living area was stunning. The property was very clean, well equipped and spacious. There are lots of dog friendly walls from the property - no stiles! We heartily recommend 'Yaks and Yetis' a nepalese restaurant in the nearby town of Ross-on-Wye.

Lovely converted barn in the most beautiful setting.

The views were amazing and the location was very good with easy access to surrounding towns and visitor attractions. Would recommend the nearby Alma pub for food and drinks. Large grounds for dogs to wander around and friendly hosts.

Excellent well equipped property in a beautiful quiet setting

On the evening of our arrival we had a warm welcome from Rob the owner.

Having two dogs we found the large garden a godsend. We were able to let the dogs run free under supervision. The cottage is a converted barn which we could not fault. It has a view of one of the fishing lakes. We enjoyed walking around the lakes in the evening to unwind from visiting the local towns and attractions. The wildlife on the lakes were good to see. Overall we would highly recommend this property and plan to come back in the future.

The Old Stables was one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in.

The location, facilities, welcome and arrival 'goodies' were just what we needed. Thank you for a wonderful few days.

The best peaceful break you could have. You won't be disappointed.

We cannot fault this property.

Rob was a very professional and courteous host. The cottage is well laid out and incredibly relaxing. The lake view from the front of the property was memorable, and the peace and quiet allowed us to get some much-needed sleep given the number of activities in the area. The Forest of Dean is less than an hour away, and with places like Tintern Abbey not much further, there is something for everyone from this base. We enjoyed an amazing curry at the RoadMaker Inn, just a few minutes' drive down the road. It's a Nepalese restaurant operated by ex-Gurkhas, and the food was incredibly tasty. For my wife's birthday, we dined at the Moody Cow and must say their food was incredible. The right amount of tang in the right places made it an enjoyable evening. If you're looking for a relaxing base to visit the local area, you will not be disappointed staying here.

The garden is great, with fantastic views over the lake. Just to say, yes, the motorway is nearby, you can hardly hear it - it is a two lane motorway, so not the M60/M25, and at 5pm on a Friday evening I counted 8 cars as I was stood on the bridge!!! Would we go back??? Yep, already planning out next trip for next year!

2nd time weve stopped here ,had a lovely week,the 2 doggies loved it too.

The property itself has everything you could want for a relaxing ,homely stay.lovely views over the lakes,huge garden for the dogs to wander around,also for us humans.i wandered around garden with a cuppa every morning taking in the view and sounds of the birds etc .. All in all a great stay. A great holiday ,didnt want to go home.lol.

Tired property Number of things need addressing, raised with owner and Sykes Paid £1k for a week which was a huge amount for what it was - did request some form of compensation from owner and Sykes - nothing recieved.

Beautiful cottage in wonderful lakeside setting.

Lots of walks and wildlife on the doorstep and plenty to explore just a short car drive away. We plan to stay here again in the future.

We had a lovely stay, the cottage had everything we needed, and the view from the cottage is beautiful, and peaceful.

There is some traffic noise but it didn't bother us. We spent a lot of time just relaxing and watching the birds and wildlife.

This cottage was situated in a beautiful area, over looking fishing lakes and fields, so peaceful.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Walking distance to a pub and Ross-on-Wye (3 miles), absolutely loved it and I am sure we will be back.

What a pleasant surprise/find this beautiful cottage in the country (& not too far from Ross on Wye town), the history surrounding the properties, the twin lakes near the property.

Excellent property in beautiful grounds.

Rob and Tracey were smashing hosts and very helpful. Property was extremely clean and well stocked with kitchen items and sofas and beds very comfortable.

Our fifth stay at this property says it all really.

This was our second stay here, I like the open aspect.

The lounge area is comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. We loved the huge garden (nearly as much as the dogs!) which was overlooking two fishing lakes and the view from there was amazing.

We absolutely loved this accommodation.

It really was home from home. The place was clean and tidy and everything we needed was there. Our family Particularly enjoyed the open plan design. It was lovely to be all together all the time as with children getting older, at home they spend a lot of time in their rooms. It was central to a lot of places, we visited Ross-on-Wye, the Brecon Beacons & Hereford. Also had some chill time. Our dog also loved the new experience and was very well behaved. He loved the lovely big outside space of the green. would definitely recommend this place to stay. It was a very well needed break. thank you!

Great stay at the Old Stables.

Nice location. We used it as a base for fishing the River Wye which is just a short drive away. If you’re looking to explore the area this is a great location just 5 minutes from Ross-on-Wye.

Lovely warm comfortable cottage, beautiful garden overlooking a fishing lake full of bird life.

Large fully fenced garden. The cottage is within 14 miles of superb dog walking areas all with cafes Minor points, some microwave dishes and a measuring jug would be useful.

The noise from the motorway was constant,the garden was huge but very uneven,needs more bowels to use in microwave,sitting room even though it has big windows is dark had to have lights on,the walls didnt reach top of ceiling in any room so could hear everything if television was on or even talking,for the price we paid we are very disappointed

It was a beautiful and tranquil place to stay.

I loved waking up to the lakeside views. The facilities were fantastic, it was a home from home with everything that was needed including full kitchen equipment and clothes washing facilities perfect for families. I highly recommend a stay at this holiday let.

What a beautiful place.

The grounds and accommodation is a perfect fit for anyone with a dog and teenage kids. The location is amazing and walks in every direction. 30 minutes to many visitor places and attractions and cannot recommend this place enough.

There was a huge garden area for the dogs to run around and where we could sit and admire the stunning views of the lake and surrounding countryside. Only a short drive to Ross-on-Wye for any shopping and it's a lovely place to walk around. Many other places of interest to visit in the area. There is everything one needs for a lovely stay at The Old Stables and the owners were a friendly and helpful couple who went the extra mile to make our stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

The Stables is a lovely cottage ,and set in a beautiful location,the owner Rob was there to greet us and said if we wanted anything he was just next door.

All in All a very restful stay and would go back again.

We had a perfect holiday at the Old Stables.

It was ideal for our 5 month old English Setter, Dexter! There are plenty of walks nearby without using the car! It’s an ideal spot to explore some lovely places like Ross on Wye & Ledbury. The food & welcome at the village pub (The Moody Cow) were excellent, they are extremely dog friendly & there were even dog treats on the table! It was a lovely relaxing holiday. We will definitely be back

After many holidays in the passed this was the one we felt completely relaxed from the first moment we entered the property.

Our two dogs (Rotties) had a blast and were free to roam the grounds without worries of escaping and causing mayhem! We will return and just wish we knew of the property before. The owner was friendly and helpful.

Everything was perfect. It was nice to escape wifi and lack of mobile connection and get close to nature.will be coming back for sure.10/10.

The cottage was perfect had a fantastic holiday with the grandkids, managed easily with the layout even with our granddaughter being in a wheelchair.

Only issue was we contacted Sykes prior to our stay to ask if there was a DVD player at cottage one was not listed but I asked them to ask the owner. They came back to me and said no dvd player so we took one, yet when we got to the cottage there was one, the owner said he had not been contacted to ask.

Really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage which was exceptionally well laid out with beautiful views over the garden and lake. Great place for dogs as the large front garden area down to the lake was fenced off. Owner was very nice and only came over when we arrived and left. The only real downside was the lack of wi-fi which we really missed. We could only occasionally get our own network signal when standing outside the cottage and that was intermittent. Also a local information book with doctor, dentist, bus stops, waste recycling and other general info would be useful. Overall though we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Myself and family had an amazing stay at the cotrage and our dog had a blast.

The large secure garden was great for exploring and the views were beautiful. The owners were extremely helpful without being intrusive and easy to contact. Will definitely be booking another stay.

Wonderful cottage, location and owners.

It was well appointed and the cleanliness was excellent. Personally for a perfect stay I would have preferred the cottage to have a wifi connection, especially as mobile phone coverage is very poor on some networks. Although grumbles aside I would definitely rebook and return as we loved everything else. Thanks.

The accommodation was excellent, location very peaceful with nice views and the walks round the lakes enjoyable. The grounds were well secure even for my two escape artists, with no worry of allowing them to roam freely. Herefordshire is a pleasant area to visit, many attractions with easy reach to cities and towns worth visiting. Rob the host was very pleasant and helpful. Would certainly recommend to anyone to book the Stables

Charming get away - lovely views across small lake.

Facilities good and spotless when we arrived. Comfortable and lots of space for our party of three. Convenient base for Gloucester/Worcester/Hereford triangle and the beautiful black and white timbered buildings for which this area is famous. We also fitted in some retail therapy at Gloucester Quays. Slight road noise when windows open but not an issue for town dwellers like us.
