    “Property was characterful and spacious and in a lovely location, with ample parking, but lacking in a few areas.”

    We were a party of 7 adults and 2 children. Lounge furniture was large, but rather tired, low backed and uncomfortable and there were not enough of a single item in the kitchen to set the table completely - only 4 glass tumblers, couple of plastic ones, mismatched cutlery, not enough coffee mugs for all adults. We discovered that the hairdryer was missing on the first day and that other properties also had their own barbecue, but ours didn’t. We reported these and, in fairness, replacements ...

    We were a party of 7 adults and 2 children. We discovered that the hairdryer was missing on the first day and that other properties also had their own barbecue, but ours didn’t. We reported these and, in fairness, replacements were delivered later the following day, by which time we had left for a day out. We had 4 females in our party and feel that such things as the hairdryer should have been noticed on the day that the property was prepared for our arrival and been put in place for our arrival. The hot tub was a hit, but again, only 4 outdoor chairs provided, when the property is advertised to accommodate 9. The fire pit was also a feature we enjoyed, but had to improvise with seating. The mattress on the bed in the en-suite bedroom was poor. Definitely due replacement. Can’t comment on the others. Overall we had a great weekend, but feel that for the price we paid, we could have expected better.

The property

The Cart Arms is a three-storey, Grade II barn conversion, settled in the village of Huntley, Gloucestershire.

Boasting original features that retain plenty of character, as well as being situated within an idyllic countryside position, The Cart Arms is a fantastic choice for families and their four-legged friends seeking a week away in Gloucestershire.

Upon arrival you are greeted by ample off-road parking, before finding The Cart Arms within this idyllic collection of farm buildings.

Step into the open-plan living space and you’ll immediately be drawn to the original cart arms set around the ceiling light, with other quirky features including the up-cycled workbench and original brick flooring within the utility.

Allow the designated chef to become acquainted with the appliances whilst you sit at the breakfast bar and keep them company.

Toast to a much-needed escape around the dining table before retreating to the sofa for a lie down.

There's four neatly presented bedrooms to choose from; the first-floor hosts a double bedroom, whilst the second-floor includes a king-size with en-suite shower, a double and a triple bunk, completed by the family bathroom.

After a day of adventure, look forward to recharging at The Cart Arms.

HUNTLEY

Gloucester 8.5 miles; Ross-on-Wye 9.3 miles.

Huntley is a small village situated West of Gloucester and North of the Forest of Dean. Within the village you will find an 19th century church, a village hall, a pub, butchers, and a SPAR. Here, you will also find Huntley Quarry, which houses a volcaniclastic suite of rocks, which will become the first geology reserve in the county. Within 8.5 miles is the city of Gloucester, where you will find a larger selection of amenities and attractions including The Docks, the St Oswald's Priory, and the 11th century Cathedral with the tomb of King Edward II. Alternatively, visit the Wye Valley and the Forest Dean, where you will find opportunities for walking, mountain biking, fishing, and following sculpture trails. Huntley is an excellent base for exploring this part of the country.
