“Phocle Lodge is fabulously located on the edge of a lake, with ever-present waterbirds, including heron, cormorant and egret.”
We loved it and may well stay there again (something we've never done before). We stayed as a couple so didn't use the third bedroom, but as there are no photos of it, it should be noted that it is only accessed from the decking, making is quite private but meaning you might get cold and wet getting into the rest of the house. We loved it and may well stay there again (something we've never done before). We stayed as a couple so didn't use the third bedroom, but as there are no photos of it, it should be noted that it is only accessed from the decking, making is quite private but meaning you might get cold and wet getting into the rest of the house. The third bedroom is a good size, with chalet-like timber cladding inside and kettle and toaster provided. Both the main bedroom and the third one have super king zip and link beds, and ours was very comfortable. The main bedroom has a large dressing room which is wonderful. The shower in the main en suite is larger than it looks in the photo - which was great for us as a disabled person needing to be washed. We didn't ask for the ramp for wheelchair access, so can't comment on that, but the external doors are not flat so a mini-ramp would be needed to get the wheelchair over them, as well as up the external stairs. Once inside it is wheelchair accessible. The house was well-provided with all needed utensils, etc. There were a couple of small maintenance issues - e.g. loose basin, and the lighting in the main bedroom was an awful dull winter-twilight blue colour, whereas everywhere else was bright and warm-coloured. The light-bulbs in the bedroom should be changed (and 1/3 of them weren't working). But they were very minor issues and overall we loved our stay.
