Description
This country cottage, close to the village of Westbury-on-Severn, is an excellent base for those looking to explore the unspoilt countryside of Gloucestershire, including the nearby Forest of Dean and beyond.
The property offers an exceptionally well equipped kitchen with table and chairs and all the appliances you could need.
The kitchen leads into a bright, comfortable and cosy living room with hardwood floor and tasteful artwork on the walls, with a sofa which converts into a sofa bed.
On those chillier evenings, there's a woodburning stove to keep you warm and give the room an even more welcoming feel.
Also on the ground floor is the contemporary bathroom with its generous sized shower, toilet and basin.
Upstairs you will find the spacious, attractive bedroom with king sized bed, en-suite toilet and plentiful storage.
Although there is no designated garden area, a bench sits at the front of the cottage where you can relax, perhaps with a glass of wine in the early evening, and listen to the many birds in the hedgerow opposite and those further afield.
The cottage, which is attached to the owners property, lies beside Walmore Common, accessed through a gate a few metres away.
Walmore Common is an SSSI, mainly because of the birds it attracts.
Although, sadly, the numbers have declined over the years, it still draws a wealth of different species, particularly in the winter months when the migratory birds such as Canada geese and Bewick swans arrive.
Occasional birdwatchers, on their way to the Common, walk past the house with their binoculars and tripods.
During wet winters the area floods and it's like living on the edge of a lake!
The flooding is controlled, and eventually drained into the river Severn.
The Common perfectly reflects the changing seasons so when the young wading birds have fledged in Spring, cattle and horses are brought onto the common for grazing.
There is always something to see here!

Lovely quiet cottage ideal for visiting the Forrest of Dean area or Gloucester, Cheltenham, and Cotswolds.
We used the buses as we had bus passes and the service was regular. You can walk to the river and The Severn Bore Pub. We had a good week cottage is well stocked with all you need.
Lovely cottage in a very quiet location.
Very comfortable and everything we needed was provided. Although we didn't meet the owner, he was very welcoming, gave us extra info before our stay and made sure everything was fine while we were there. The welcome basket of cider, shortbread and jam was a nice touch too. The access road was pretty tight and bumpy, but easily manageable if you take it slow. Although I did get slightly distracted by an owl flying above me and escorting me in on one occasion! Exiting on to main road was also a little tricky, but got the hang of that too. Ease out ever so slightly and you can see right without obstructing traffic. Don't feel that any of the slight issues warrant taking a whole star from the rating though.
A well equipped, cosy cottage in a lovely location.
The track to the cottage is so narrow that the sensors on the car - a Skoda Kamiq - were exhausted when we got there.
The exit onto the road is not easy due to the high hedges and poor sight lines. The cottage stands on the edge of the track with the owners house behind it. It is quiet and peaceful tho there is some distant traffic noise.
Even though the owner supplied us with copious directions our satnav didn't assist much so it took some finding.
When we finally did locate the cottage we found it much to our liking as was the surrounding area. Thanks Bob!
Cottage on the Common was a quaint and quirky property.
We loved how quiet it was and hearing the birdsong in the morning was a joy. Rob the owner is a lovely guy, his property is attached to the Cottage. He was very helpful in terms of places to go to eat, the information pack in the Cottage had a lot of information regarding places to visit and eat. The welcome pack of cider, biscuits and jam were much appreciated and locally produced. Items can be bought from the Severn & Wye Smokery which is about 10 mins away, turn right at the top of the lane, its on the right hand side opposite a garage. I highly recommend you give it a visit. It has a shop, deli, cafe, fish stall and outdoor kitchen doing take away meals however these are only on a Friday and Saturday nights. (Check their website) Everything you could ever need was there at the Cottage in terms of equipment etc There were a couple of issues, one was the two seater settee which was a little to uncomfortable for us, I would have preferred a 3 seater settee. The lane leading down to the Cottage was very, very bumpy and narrow with hedges on both sides, which set the alarm off on the car as they were so close. You have to drive very, very slowly and there are no passing places in the lane but as the Cottage on the Common is the only house down there you don't encounter other traffic. Once you've reached the top of the lane turning right or left is not easy as you are slightly blinded by the hedges in seeing the oncoming traffic, you had to be quick once you had committed to move forward. We found turning left was easier then turning around in the layby about a mile mile down the road. Great location for the Forrest of Dean, Wye Valley, Ross on Wye, Tewksbury Abbey. We really enjoyed our stay and Rob was a lovely host. Yes, we would recommend it to others. Yes, we would go again despite the access to the Cottage. A lovely cottage which we used as a base for exploring the area.
Very quiet and enjoyed some lovely walks from the cottage down to the Severn and also onto the Common. Great access to roads and we also visited Gloucester, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean. Lovely selection of items waiting for us on arrival, especially the cider.
Very quite and remote but easy access from the main road down a narrow tree lined lane Well appointed cottage with ample parking for one .
A real get away hiding hole but with close amenities and eateries The accommodation was good well maintained and had all the items needed to make your stay easy and welcoming We would recommend this as a great long weekend type break. The cottage location is quiet and accessed via a long narrow track. Approximately a 15 minute drive to the Forest of Dean. Westbury Court Gardens ( national trust), 5 minute drive. Several pubs nearby ( note that several are closed on a Monday).
Lovely clean and comfortable property.
All that we needed was provided. Had a few problems getting the required channels on the TV. Perhaps a few instructions would help, especially for us oldies. Also would suggest that recommendations of local pubs and restaurants should have a caveat to say ring before visiting, some of them had reduced hours or were closed. We had a great few days. Gloucester Quays and Cathedral are a must.
We've just returned from our 3rd stay at this lovely little cottage in its quirky location.
Not much to say beyond what we're previously fed back - it's a wonderfully quiet and relaxing place to stay, with everything you need for a lovely stay. We will be back.
Nice comfortable cottage in a very quiet location.
Easy access to the common, which is a magnet for wading birds when part flooded. Saw Green Wing Teal and Widgeon while there (amongst others). Be aware access lane could be daunting for some drivers! Narrow and a bit muddy, but okay if you take it steady. Follow owners directions carefully as entrance to lane is easy to miss!

Cottage on the Common was a very cosy,comfortable place to stay.
Very clean with everything one could need supplied. A modern interior with all facilities. Rob,the owner was on hand without being intrusive. Not far away from the Forest of Dean: the border with Wales and all the loveliness that entails and Gloucester is a bus ride away. Lovely walks on the Common are a step away: a must for birdwatchers.

The sofa could've been more comfortable & the lane down to the cottage was rougher than expected, but overall a great little place. Very centrally located for a lot of towns and attractions.

We loved our stay here.
It was nice to be able to walk on the Common and the River Severn is also within walking distance. The cottage had everything we needed and we would stay again. It was in a lovely quiet spot and it was nice to wake up to birdsong rather than your neighbours going off to work. The initial drive down the lane was a bit bumpy until we got the hang of it - drive slowly!. Rob (host) had made us aware it was a bit bumpy and to take it easy. The host Rob is very nice and lives next door but we didn’t need to bother him with anything during our stay. The only quirk was the settee, I never did get the knack of how to sit in it comfortably. Although the bed was very comfortable and the nights were very dark and quiet which made sleep come easily. Good access to the River Severn, Forest of Dean and Gloucester.

if you think to get to this cottage 1/2 mile off main road down rough old lane with bushes over grow so they can scratch your car then this is this cottage for you needs updating i use Skyes a lot but this company needs to assess the assess.

The cottage was immaculate and very clean.
The kitchen was extremely well equipped and had everything we needed. It was very quiet and having the common on the doorstep was amazing. Rob was very helpful and the goodies on arrival were a fantastic. We would definitely recommend Rob’s cottage.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. The condition of the track leading to the cottage has been well documented previously. It's not as narrow as I expected but certainly would benefit from a little attention, such as a surface dressing of shingle or something similar. But that aside we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Lovely cosy cottage with everything that we needed.
We survived storm Bert and did walks along the river and in the Forest of Dean. The bus stop is close by and was good for traveling into Gloucester also we found the pub the Severn Bore to be a very friendly place.
Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is very cosy and had everything we needed for our weekend break.
Separate from the cottage and holiday as a whole, we were extremely disappointed to receive a Sykes email well before we were due to leave, stating all the does and dont's on how to leave the cottage.
Rob has a wonderful bolt hole / base for excursions in the 'Cottage on the Common'.
He was efficient and pleasant in all communications before during and after our stay. We loved the facilities with good quality furnishings and furnishings and would return if in the area again.15/20 minute drive into Gloucester with major shops and supermarkets plus a local butcher 5 mins away. Highly recommended location, value for money and facilities.

A lovely rural cottage with everything you could possibly need for a tranquil relaxing break.
The bed was so comfortable and the shower room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need and the welcome gift from Robert the owner of some local cider and marmalade was lovely. This was our first visit but we will definitely be back.
A very cosy, and extremely well equipped cottage.
In an area with plenty of things to do. Good welcome pack, Rob was very friendly and helpful. The only things to be aware of are the narrow track down to the cottage and the sofa could really benefit replacing. We were aware of these before our stay, but these things by no means spoilt our holiday.

We were contacted by the owner prior to our holiday giving us detailed directions and parking information which was very useful.
Previous reviews had warned about the narrow track leading to the cottage and we were pleased that during our stay we didn't meet any other vehicle coming in the opposite direction that necessitated us reversing along the lane! The cottage itself is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We especially liked the large walk in shower and the mirror which, when lit, had a central panel which didn't mist up. We appreciated the welcome pack containing local cider, biscuits and marmalade. Thank you Rob.
The driveway on the unmade road very narrow with a limited turning circle at the end.
The bushes on the driveway brushed both sides of car(Peugeot partner)on entrance and exit resulting in damage .We had a power cut one day whilst there (3am )contacted owner several hours later.Towel rail in shower room not secured to wall newel post at bottom of stairs loose in socket .We have been with Welcome cottages/Sykes cottages for many years and we were very disappointed with this particular cottage.Found the interior of the cottage lack of natural light so we had to have lights on most of the day.
Fantastic place to get away from everyone the cottage wants for nothing everything has been thought of Owner even left a welcome bowl of goodies cider marmalade and biscuits nice touch that was Just one word of warning the approach lane is very bumpy and getting overgrown so be wary of this if your car has low suspension Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cottage on the Common fantastic place to have a short break 5 Stars all round Use what three words to find the cottage straight to the door
Perfect for a couple looking for a secluded break but within easy reach of Gloucester and the surrounding area.
Lovely cottage, well appointed and well laid out. Internet was fine and the smart tv was good for Netflix, Prime etc, etc. There is a narrow driveway that is a bit bump in places but my car is low and grounds out on speed humps but I had no issues. You do also need to turnaround and park close to a bush but again I had no issues and I have a big car.
An absolute gem of a cottage.
Nestled away in a very quiet peaceful little lane. The cottage is equipped with everything you need and more, absolutely spotless and a fabulous little welcome basket, which was very much appreciated. Ideally situated to visit lots of beautiful places, Gloucester, Bath, Cirencester, Stow and many more, then to return “home” to relax and enjoy a cooked meal and glass of wine. We will definitely be returning!!
The Cottage on the Common is a lovely house for a holiday.
Clean, well maintained, central to some of the most beautiful parts of England, it was a really nice place to stay. The owner, Rob, lives next door and is helpful and pleasant to visitors. Facilities include upstairs and downstairs toilets, induction hob, oven, washer/dryer and fridge, everything you need is here, including iron and ironing board and excellent wifi which is great as the phone signal isn’t very strong. If you’re a walker, you have a common right outside the door, and if you’re the type that likes to take in the history, you’ve got castles and manor houses to beat the band, all within an hour or so’s drive of the house. The only problem is the approach lane to the cottage, which is narrow, unmetalled and quite tricky for an ordinary car to navigate. If you’re in a four-wheel drive, you’ll have no problems.
What a wonderful and complete little house!
We had a great stay in the middle of nature, surrounded by many birds. The house is equipped with all conveniences and everything has been thought of so that you don't have to worry about anything. We will definitely come back and highly recommend it to friends and family. Thank you!

We have had many cottage holidays from ones which sleep 2 to ones which sleep 14+.
This was definitely the best equipped and most comfortable of the small places we have used.
The property is in a lovely quiet location, and would definitely recommend to others and would return again.

Fantastic cottage super clean and cozy.
A great welcome pack greeted us after our five hour journey plus the gentleman known as Robert.Although we were in November the weather favoured us for the week and we found lots of local towns and attractions and soon realized how close to Wales we were. Great location far away from the madding crowd surrounded by nature and silence.
The Cottage had all the charms of a typical country cottage.
The drive down the lane was a bit unnerving. But after doing it a few times you get used to it, just take it (slowly) we did stay in the wettest time of the year with storm (ciaran) attacking us from all sides it tended to make things a little worse, but we took supplies with us and kept warm with the very efficient wood burner. The owner Robert supplied us with wood for the fire. The common was flooded but that gave the opportunity to hear lots of wading birds that decided it was now a lake for them. The silence of the place was deafening. Which was a welcome change to us. As we live on a busy road. And noisey neighbours. Once inside the property your welcomed to a warm cottage and a lovely basket of local cider and biscuits. It so well equipped your every need catered for. The only down side was the Sofa. My wife suffers with arthritis so by the end of the week she found it a bit uncomfortable. But i was fine with it. The Lyon Inn just down the road is highly recommended, we had a nice sunday roast. And a great lunch time bar meal on Friday. Once again thank you Robert for a relaxing time away
A very well equipped cottage, has everything needed for the full length of your stay.
Spotlessly clean, and very tastefully decorated. The lane is narrow but ok with care. We enjoyed a very nice relaxing week.

Sofa not very comfortable felt like you were falling forward, The lane could do with the brambles being cut back & a few of the pot holes being filled in. However this would not stop us from booking again in the future. Lovely welcome pack very friendly & helpful owner,
A beautiful cottage that had all you need for a relaxing break.
The oil heater is being replaced by electric powered run by solar so with its own well that supplies the water it is a great eco property. Lovely welcome gift, Rob was very friendly, sent a greeting even whilst away himself. If I could change anything I would cut back some of the brambles in the lane to give more natural light for the cottage and fill some of the dips in the lane for a smoother drive. But that's just minor. Fabulous stay.
We had a Lovely stay at the cottage the owner Robert is very pleasant and charming, ideal for evening walk on walmore common and wildlife spotting great to see Muntjac deer walking past the window on the track outside .

The cottage was lovely and well equipped, the welcome pack was a thoughtful extra and much appreciated.
The access to the cottage really does need work carried out, I.e. hedges cutting back both sides, we drive a Kia picanto and we were brushing the hedges both sides. Also the holes in the track require filling as it does the suspension no good. Access from the track to the main road could do with a mirror on the opposite side so you can see traffic coming, it’s a 50 mph road and we did feel we were dicing with death when pulling out. These are minor negatives and easily rectified which would result in a top score.
It is a great cottage -well equipped in every respect - in a very peaceful location.

Everything met our expectations exactly. Just one thing I would mention though is that access to the property is by way of a rough track. If you arrive in something like a low-sprung sports car then you probably won't be able to reach the house.

What a beautiful charming little cottage.
Perfect hideaway for me. This was exactly what I wanted. The facilities were fantastic, it was cosy and warm despite going there at the coldest time. I was undistubed and it was so peaceful. The welcome basket was so cute and a wonderful touch. I really recommend this place highly - Thank you :-)

We had a wonderful week of peace and relaxation. The location is lovely and the cottage is fabulous.
We were warmly welcomed by Rob when we arrived.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. A lovely welcome pack awaited us on the table, along with information on the cottage and useful pointers for places to eat/ shop etc. The cottage is situated at the end of a long narrow lane...we really enjoyed the peace and the lack of light pollution. Be aware leaving the lane at the main road is tricky, and the the traffic is fast..take care. Places to visit are all within easy reach. Would recommend Lydney Harbour - fabulous views of the Severn, Tintern Abbey is also worth a visit. We had no trouble filling a week here. Would also highly recommend the Severn and Wye Smokery which is just up the road from the cottage... delicious food- wonderful desserts!
The directions to find the property were brilliant.
The cottage was immaculately clean and contained every conceivable item needed for a comfortable stay which made for a 1st class break.
The cottage had all we needed for our holiday.
However the seating in the lounge was not very comfortable. The location was quiet and we were happy there. Though the access lane was a bit of a challenge at first, we got used to it! We were warned about that before hand so we knew what to expect. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The Cottage on the Common is a very charming cottage just right for our stay in Gloucestershire.
It was very comfortable and well equipped for all needs. I would recommend a stay here to friends and family. The only thing that may have been better would be more outdoor facilities or access to a garden space. There really was only one place to sit which was at the front of the cottage. Also it is a little close to the main road.
Delightful cottage with all the right amenities.
Wonderful comfy king sized bed; great nights’ sleep. The weather was fabulous for cycling around The Forest of Dean and we spent many an evening watching the sun go down on the bench outside the cottage looking at the wildlife in the hedges and meadow. Lovely owner and host Rob was there if you needed anything and we plan to return to this lovely holiday cottage.
The property was very hard to find, it was a small entrance between bushes off the busy A48.
.we had to ring the owner to help us find it...he was very helpful. The road to the cottage was VERY BUMPY and long. Once you get to the cottage it is beautiful, can't fault it, it has everything you need.There are cows in the field just behind the cottage, who came to the fence to see us. The owner left us a lovely welcoming gift of 2 bottles of cider and some lovely biscuits, very nice indeed. We took our electric bikes with us but didn't get to use them much as not alit round there...Essco garage and a pub...the pub is called The Severn Bore, we can't recommend it enough...you MUST go for the Sunday carvery it was delicious and only cost £9.95!, we ate there 3 times and the food was always lovely and the staff are so friendly. Was a lovely cottage but wouldn't stay again due to the location
We were made exceptionally welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the owner.
The only minor issue we had was that we were not aware before arrival that the water was well water and not mains. Whilst the kitchen cold water tap was UV treated non of the others were.
The lane to the property was a bit scary initially but we got used to it, and the common beyond does make up for this, with amazing birdsong although most of them stayed hidfrom sight sadly.
We found that turning right out of property was impossible due to speed of road and lack of clear visibility but was not a major problem. Property well equipped and clean. Bed very comfortable, sadly sofa less so. Downstairs especially the kitchen a little dark even though we were there in June. Kitchen small but well equipped, I did find accessing the microwave a bit awkward as it is under the staircase area, and the lack of recycling facilities in the area was frustrating (obviously this is not the fault of the property, but the local council, but we did take much of our waste home to be composted or recycled). Owner friendly and helpful. Would stay there again if I was looking for somewhere in the area.

Yes, the access lane is very narrow and bumpy, and, as others have mentioned would surely not be good for a low vehicle, but the peace and birdsong at the end of the lane were worth the ride and the lane was a bit of an adventure for us, as we don't have one like it where we live in suburban Kent! We even ended up having to wait for some local chickens to move on a couple of occasions! This was our first trip to this lovely part of the country and the cottage location proved to be very convenient for exploration of Gloucester, Hereford, The Forest of Dean and along parts of the Wye and Severn Rivers. The cottage was very well equipped and we appreciated the welcome basket of local treats.
The travel directions were excellent, although the narrow lane down to the cottage would be tricky to spot if a guest arrived for the first time in the dark. The owner is helpful and friendly and there is lots to see and do in the local area.
This was a beautiful, immaculate cottage in a very peaceful location and the welcome pack was very much appreciated.
The main problem was access to it, the track was very pot-holed and hedges overgrown and there were no passing places if you were unlucky enough to meet another vehicle. Not very suitable for a low slung or wide vehicle.

Be aware in a low slung car . Also use what3words to find it. Kitchen was well equipped with good appliances and tools . The sitting room was nice with the log fire with a lovely tv . Very slight downside is slowish internet but no big deal and the sofa bed wasn’t the most comfortable thing to sit on. Downstairs shower room was really nice . Bedroom upstairs was good with lots of storage . Rode out storm Eunice on our last full day , helping owner Rob to clear the lane of downed trees and debris. He even drove us into Gloucester for fish and chips as we had a 12 hour power cut . Overall a lovely cottage and a nice stay .
The cottage is in an excellent location for visiting the Cotswolds, Forest of Dean and Welsh boarders.
Lovely remote location with all amenities you need. Clean and tidy and we appreciated the effort made by the owner to make us feel very welcomed.
Absolutely fantastic stay, the cottage had a great location and was so secluded and private we were able to relax and escape from our busy lives.
The cottage is spotless with a great bathroom lovely furnishings. Great location for visiting, Cheltenham and Bristol and also Gloucester is less than 15 minutes away if you need to do a big shop.

The owners left us a lovely welcome basket, the area is beautiful and the house is very well equipped! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a relaxing break.

Listening to the owls from the cottage was a lovely surprise. We enjoyed the welcome treats, a lovely touch and introduction to the local pale ales and cider. Thank you Rob and Gillian for a wonderful self-catering experience.
Gorgeous cottage!
We had a lovely 3 night break. Beautifully clean and very remote (which is exactly what we wanted) so it was super quiet. The lane which leads up to the cottage is very narrow, but it's easy to turn around at the end and there is a perfect space to park. The kitchen is so well stocked with everything you could need - we did breakfast every day and dinner one evening. The dishwasher made cleaning up nice and easy! The only thing we would change is the sofa in the lounge which wasn't as comfy as it could have been, but it was fine for a few nights watching Netflix when we weren't out. The log burner was lovely and cosy though, and there was plenty of wood for three nights.There is a beautiful 15 minute walk up the side of the house and across the fields to the River Severn, which made for some amazing photos at sunset. We went to the White Hart at Broadoak for dinner twice and had fantastic food and really good service - it's just 8 minutes up the road. We also went to Gloucester Cathedral, the Forest of Dean, Cheltenham and the Roman Villa at Chedworth - all are worth a look depending on what you're into, and the cottage was a perfect base for us, with everything within an hour's drive. We met the owner and he was very friendly and went out of his way to be helpful which left a brilliant impression! Overall a really lovely stay and we would definitely stay again.
Excellent cottage, very clean, comfortable and well equipped.
The location is lovely, peaceful, and far enough from the road to be private.
Only slight negative - I stand in excess of 6', the light fittings don't! WiFi and phone signal are very slow, but smart TV was useful.
This is a lovely secluded little cottage and we had a super holiday while there.

Cottage on the Common is a cute, cosy cottage.
It's nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed there. We met the owner a few times, he was very friendly. It's in a great location for visiting the Forest of Dean, Gloucester and lovely nearby towns.

Very modern, well appointed and luxurious. Plenty of hot water, fridge and freezer space, towels and linens. really quiet spot off the beaten track but easy to access so many fantastic venues,sights and places.
Cottage on the Common is down a very bumpy track which needs to be navigated carefully if you have a low car - but it is worth it for the peace and quiet of the location.
The cottage is one of the best we have ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped and very comfortable. The welcome basket of goodies was delicious too. The cottage was warm and had excellent lighting - we love to read and there were good lamps in all the rooms. We took the footpath to the side of the cottage, crossed the road into Goose Lane and found a footpath that took us via a field of friendly goats to the River Severn. We also took a riide on the Forest of Dean steam railway and walked in the Forest. We hope to return to this lovely location.
Stayed here 31st October to the 7th November 2020 The turning from the main road was a little hard to find The track down to the cottage was rather narrow a bit steep and very wet and muddy but worth it at the end The cottage was lovely with all you could wish for, a good sized bedroom with a toilet, a kitchen with washing machine and dish washer we made good use of both, a good size lounge with a wood burning stove which we used, and a most wonderful shower although downstairs, nicely decorated and furnished and clean.
We will make a return visit in the future..
The cottage is warm and cosy, modern and comfortable, great kitchen and the log burner was useful as it was cold.
A wonderful cottage which has all the facilities you could wish for.
The bed was so comfortable , it was hard to get up in the mornings... Very quiet and idyllic surroundings and helpful hosts. We will return soon.

Apart from a couple of plumbing issues, which I'm sure will be sorted, and a long bumpy muddy drive, the cottage was warm and comfortable, fantastic bed.
- Boiler playing up, leaking pipe in the En_suite toilet, Slightly loose toilet seat in same room. The Host is aware of these small niggles and said they will be fixed, Unable to go for a walk, To Muddy, But that's Winter. Got some good drives around local villages, Beautiful scenery, would recommend this Break.

Home from home experience.
From the peace and quiet to the amazingly comfy bed which was so fresh smelling and beautifully clean. We loved the layout of the cottage and it's decor is a very high standard. We even had a few warm days where we opened the windows and listened to the birds singing. Don't let the bumpy lane put you off it's a little piece of heaven when you get to the end.
We were delighted to find the cottage was absolutely spotless clean, and very well equipped with everything for a very comfortable stay.
We both felt that it was the best cottage we had stayed in, and we have stayed in a lot of places. The high standard was appreciated!!
it was so refreshing to go to a cottage that we recognised from the description and photographs.
It was also the first time that my wife has been so impressed with the cleanliness she was happy to use all the plates, mugs etc without giving them a quick "once over". The cottage overall was to a very good standard and we would have no hesitation about recommending it to friends and family.
