    “The Doll's House was a very pleasant place to stay, it soon felt like home.”

    It is nicely furnished and retains a degree of character which definitely contributes to the homely feel. There is no microwave or dishwasher, which to me wasn't important but the lack of cooking dishes and oven glove were more difficult to understand, even in the small kitchen there was plenty of cupboard space to accommodate these things. But this didn't detract from what was for me an very enjoyable stay.

Northleach 3 miles.

The Doll's House may be found in the rural village of Yanworth, not far from Northleach in Gloucestershire.

This quaint cottage has everything a couple could want for a romantic getaway in the Cotswolds: a prime spot in the heart of the breath-taking Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a front garden with seating, a designated parking spot, and a warm and homely interior with characterful features like exposed beams and stone.

After you've crossed the threshold, you and your loved one can put your feet up next to the woodburning stove while you enjoy a dinner that was made just for you in the well-appointed kitchen.

You can relax on the plush sofa and watch TV after supper, or you can go outdoors and raise a glass to your romantic holiday.

When the sun goes down, go to the bathroom to clean up before heading upstairs to the plush king-size bed for the night.

Explore the area's rich history if you can bear to leave this idyllic retreat: stop by the National Trust's Chedworth Roman Villa to see the ruins of a country house from the 4th century and then learn about the house's history at the museum; stroll through the National Trust's Lodge Park and Sherborne Park Estate to see a 17th-century ashlar-stone grandstand and impressive limestone lodges; or go to Snowshill Manor to look at the estate's collection of artifacts.

A paradise for avid ramblers, the Cotswolds provide countless options for walks, hikes, and bike paths through gorgeous landscapes of hills, meadows, and villages.

It's also not hard to get to Cheltenham, where you can see the world-famous races if you schedule your trip just right, or to Gloucester, where you can stroll the docks, visit the prison, cathedral, and priory, or check out the one-of-a-kind Jet Age museum.

The Doll's House has all of these things and more.

About the location

NORTHLEACH

Bourton on the water 5.5 miles; Stow-on-the-wold 9.1 miles;

Northleach is just off the Roman road, the Fosse Way (A429) 8 miles north-east of Cirencester and 10 miles south-west of Stow-on-the-Wold, and about 7 miles from Burford - making it an excellent place to travel from if you're looking to visit these popular and attractive places. Northleach was at one time an important market town, celebrated throughout Europe as a major centre for the Cotswold wool trade! The fifteenth-century church of St Peter and St Paul, paid for by the wealthy wool merchants, was built with stone dug from the quarry in the town itself and what is now the Market Square. More recently the village has been used in a number of recent films, including the Casual Vacancy of 2015.
