Beechcroft Barns

Resting on the owner’s estate lies Beechcroft Barns, spectacular Victorian barns dating back to the 1860s. These amazing barns have been transformed into contemporary accommodation perfect for a family getaway or a romantic retreat to Herefordshire. Boasting magnificent timber beams and spacious outdoor areas, the barns offer a real home-away-from-home to make your base for exploring the surrounding countryside. Close to Little Lugg and the River Wye, plenty of riverside strolls can be enjoyed from the properties, while the village of Cross Keys offers a pub just a short walk away. The city of Hereford lies on the River Wye and is just a few miles away, with a wide selection of bars, pubs, cafés, shops and restaurants, as well as an eclectic mix of architecture from almost every British era and its own cathedral, a Grade I listed building which contains Mappa Mundi, a medieval map of the world created around 1300 by Richard of Holdingham and listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. Hereford is well-known for being a cider producer, and you can visit its cider museum and learn about the history of cider in the area, including Bulmers, which was created in Hereford. The half-timbered town of Leominster is a short distance away, filled with medieval buildings and home to the National Trust's Berrington Hall, an 18th century country house and gardens that was once the seat of the Cawley family. Explore the Wye Valley AONB and enjoy picturesque walks through nature; Symonds Yat Rock, an ancient hill fort offering incredible views of the River Wye with miles of walking trails, a cycle track and picnic area is a must-see, you may even spot protected Peregrine falcons flying from their nests.

About the location

HEREFORD

Leominster 14 miles.

The cathedral city of Hereford dates back to Saxon times, and with its medieval bridge over the winding River Wye it is the very image of picturesque England. With a mix of buildings from almost every British era, eclectic Hereford is a popular base for those seeking to explore the locale – being ideally placed for accessing the Black and White villages of the region, not to mention the delights of neighbouring Shropshire, Worcestershire and The Cotswolds. Famous as a cider producing town, Hereford is also the home of the Mappa Mundi, the largest and most elaborate pre-15th century map in existence, which resides in the cathedral alongside the famous Chained Library – a collection of over 1500 rare books from as early as the 8th century. Nearby is the half timbered town of Leominster, filled with medieval buildings, often overhanging the street, and also accessible is the natural splendour of Symonds Yat, a rocky outcrop on a 5 mile bend of the River Wye, with spectacular views and the opportunity to spot protected peregrine falcons flying from their nests.
