Description
Primrose Cottage is a beautiful Cotswold stone cottage, with a peaceful courtyard garden. Despite its tranquil location, the cottage is located close to the heart of the picturesque market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, which has a wide range of bars, restaurants and cafes, as well as being ideally placed for exploring the wider Cotswold region.
The cottage dates back to the 18th century and has been extensively renovated, whilst maintaining character features, such as wooden beams and a wood burning stove.Complementing these character features, the cottage has modern facilities, including wireless internet access, Freeview TV and a well equipped kitchen.
The cottage sleeps a maximum of four people, in two bedrooms, with one bathroom. It is an ideal retreat for a family or a small group of friends. Primrose Cottage's front door opens into the kitchen. The ground floor rooms are:
Kitchen: A well equipped kitchen, containing a dishwasher, four ring gas hob, electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer and washing machine. There is also a dining table with four chairs;
Living room: A cosy room, with oak beams, a wood burning stove and comfy seating for four. The character features are complemented by a Freeview TV, with DVD player.
Stairs lead up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms:
Master bedroom: Contains a double bed;
Second bedroom: Contains two 75cm wide single beds;
Bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and basin.
Outside the front door, the cottage has a small courtyard garden, with an outdoor table and chairs.

The cottage was central to everyplace we wanted to visit in the Cotswolds but the cottage itself was not maintained very well no recycling bins so we had to put tins and plastics in a bag and bottles in another and leave them beside the green bin so hopefully they were removed before the next guests arrived.
If I was going back I would’nt stay there again.
The house felt musty and damp.
Most of the utensils where dirty and requied us to clean before use. One of the pans had mold in it. The downstairs was nice but upstairs needs some TLC and lack of ventilation in the bathroom was an issue. There was only 2 chairs for the outside table which wasnt ideal with 4 of us staying and the recycling bin handnt been emptied from the previous guests which they had also left empty wine bottles next to the bin as it was full.
Overall a good stay in the cottage, however some features do look a little jaded and could do with a freshen up (damaged walls, worktops etc).
During our stay we had the electric trip on the Sunday morning turning off the fridge & dishwasher etc, this was due to a substantial leak underneath the washing machine and cooker (junction box submerged in water). Although I appreciate this can happen to anyone at any property, it was quite clear this has been leaking for some time (black mould around rotten kick boards) and that the key signs weren't identified by property cleaners (mould & sound of running water near washing machine). I will say however that Louise was very efficient in sorting our issue (rectified within 3hrs) and was very helpful overall on the day. The property is ideally situated with the centre of Stow only a minute or so walk away so the location was ideal. Would visit again providing its given a little bit of TLC in the future.

Note: The neighbouring cottages have right of access through the garden.
Note: This is an old property with character features, including steep stairs and low beams, which is laid out over two floors, and could therefore pose difficulty to guests with limited mobility.
Note: The property’s courtyard garden is enclosed; however, the neighbouring properties have a right of access through this garden, which could result in the gate to the road or the gate to the neighbouring property not being closed properly.
Note: Logs for the woodburning stove are provided under a fair usage policy (there is an honesty box for contributions towards the cost of logs used).
Note: A telephone is provided, with an honesty box for the cost of calls made (no international calls).
Note: Neighbouring property Spinners Cottage can be booked in conjunction with Primrose Cottage.
Note: The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, this is a traditional fair for people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted; Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed.
