Hour Cottage

The cottage was warm and cosy and much as we expected.

The only downside was minor and we thought the towels needed to be updated . It was ideal for 2 people but we thought for 4 people it would be somewhat cramped as the sofas were small.

Looking a bit tired in places.

Wardrobes very dusty inside. Some crockery not clean. Milk in fridge would be a kind gesture upon arrival.

Short driving distance to most Cotswold Tourist Spots inc TV’s famous Clarkson’s Farm - The town is a great base for Simple Walks/Hiking/Touring - will probably return within a couple of years and stay here again

Hour cottage is comfortable and well equipped.

Everything needed for your stay is supplied. Washing powder, wash up liquid, lots of books, jigsaws etc. plenty of crockery, glasses etc supplied. The cottage is in a great location, just minutes walk from all the attractions of Stow. Very convenient to have an M&S Simply Food close by. We found stow to be a great location for touring the Cotswolds. While the cottage was cleaned before our arrival, I think it could do with regular deep cleans eg inside kitchen cupboards, windows etc. As previous reviewers have stated, there are spiders and cobwebs everywhere.

Overall very well maintained property.

Have a slight issue with cobwebs, dust and bugs which looked like wood lice. Insistence on late arrival and departure times, which were changed after original contract. Access to the property was changed to 4.30pm yet departure was frequently empathized as non negotiable 10.00 am. Personally I would prefer earlier check in and later departure which means we could get the most from our holiday stay.

We had a fabulous week’s holiday in this lovely characterful cottage, which was ideally located for shops, pubs and restaurants and the town square which were all only a few minutes walk away.

The cottage was spacious, yet cosy, tastefully furnished and decorated, fully equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners were quick to respond and help with any queries.

It's the 2nd time we've stayed there and I'm sure it won't be the last. Excellent communication from the owners too.

Convenient central location. Everything we needed for a few days away in Stowe and it’s surrounds, The only criticism was that the fan in the bathroom didn’t work. No problem in Summer as we could vent via the window but could be a problem in the Winter months. Would love to return sometime. Many thanks!

Would agree with some previous reviewers that some updating would be good (particularly the bathroom) . We did have an enjoyable 2 week stay.

Nice cottage.

Clean and well equipped with lots of thoughtful small touches. Good location. Bath towels too small (we were pre-warned by another review and took our own). Couldn't get dishwasher to work but as we had only one main meal in the cottage this wasn't a problem and I'm sure the helpful owner would have sorted it out if we had telephoned.

Well appointed. Easy to live in. Suggest four comfortable chairs needed in the tv area and bath towels need to be larger.

A lovely comfortable cottage a few minutes walk from the centre of Stow on the Wold

Perfectly located for getting into town centre, had everything there that you would need, plenty of hot water, good shower, personally we found the living room furniture slightly uncomfortable and wouldn’t have wanted to sit on it for an entire evening.

Although the cottage was very clean it had obviously not been redecorated/refurbished for a good while.

The property is very well situated and within easy walk to the town centre.

It is very comfortable and has most of the facilities you require, there are some things that require a little upgrading but in general it is a very good place to stay.

The position of the cottage is brilliant as you can walk in to the village to eat out at any of the many varied places to eat. Brilliant to have 2 parking spaces. Well equipped if you want to stay in and cook. Fabulous cottage in all aspects of a self catering holiday. Would like to stay there again.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful.

It had everything we could have possibly needed. The location is excellent, very peaceful and only a short walk into the centre of Stow.

Perfectly situated to visit the Cotswolds, lots of NT properties within half an hour, also Blenheim.

Lovely pubs to eat at in Stow, spoilt for choice, highly recommend the Kings Head, Queens Arms and The Porch. Small courtyard ideal to sit in with a coffee or glass of wine!

A lovely, cosy, well situated cottage.

Our family of four enjoyed our stay very much. Being a few minutes walk into the centre of town with its many good pubs, restaurants and shops was a real plus. The town looked very festive with the Christmas lights and decorations. The close was very quiet with easy parking right outside the door. The cottage was well equipped with nice quality kitchen ware and equipment and everything was well maintained and clean. The beds and bedding were good quality and there was plenty of storage space. Our only small issue was the sofa and armchair in the sitting room was only really adequate for 3 adults and meant we shifted the furniture a little to accommodate another chair from the garden room but this was just our preference. Our hosts were very pleasant and informative and communication was excellent. All in all a perfect place from which to explore this lovely area.

Its our third time at the cottage we love it as it is cosy and in a great location and we love Stow will return

This is a lovely and cosy cottage which really is a few minutes walk from the centre of Stow.

We were very happy there for a week and can highly recommend it. Lovely little outside area and very private. Easy access to other area’s including Stratford, Chipping Norton, Bourton on the Water and Broadway. Lots of information in the cottage about the area and local walks. Very nice restaurants and coffee shops in Stow so you can park up in the evening and stroll in for a meal or a drink.

Rear courtyard needs attention.

Dustbin and recycling boxes had not been emptied for a while putting the onus on me to clear other guests rubbish.

Perfect cottage, great location, spotlessly clean and easy communications with the owners for key collection.

A veritable home from home with everything you need.

...and nothing you don't! Hard to imagine anywhere that could possibly be more convenient - hassle-free parking and literally 3 minutes walk to the centre of Stow and - and yet at the same time quiet and secluded. We'll be back.

Excellent accommodation, everything has been thought of

Hour cottage is in a central location with easy parking by the front door and a gentle stroll into the centre of Stow .

Generally very well placed for exploring The Cotswolds . Well equipped, clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water and heating. To the rear there is a small but pretty courtyard garden with garden furniture provided. Plenty of cleaning materials and general supplies, eg dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, foil, cling, were provided. Instructions for all appliances provided in a folder. There is a small freezer under the stairs. It would of been helpful to be able to sit near a mirror to blow dry hair and apply make up and a TV in the bedroom would have been nice as the socket and aerial are in place in the double room but these are minor points. We had fish and chips from Greedys which were delicious, there is a co op in Stow centre and a M and S food outlet at the BP station just a few yards away from the cottage. We would happily return, especially when the restrictions are lifted and we can enjoy all the local area has to offer. This is one of the nicest properties we have stayed at in recent years.

We always enjoy our holidays at Hour Cottage but this holiday is in the pandemic.

We felt safe with Hour Cottage being so clean and practical. We were sad we couldn't wander round Stow in the evenings and have a few pints due to Covid restrictions but Hour Cottage was warm and cosy. So with wine, comfy seating and a tv that was simple to use we enjoyed our evenings. Many thanks for another great holiday in Stow. Looking forward to our next booked holiday with you in April 2021.

Hour cottage at Stow On The Wold is very convenient for the shops, pubs and restaurant as it is only about a four minute walk away.

Stow On The Wold is a very interesting and pretty market town. The people serving the eating places and shops are very polite and friendly. We would definitely stay in Hour Cottage again as it exceeded our expectations.

There is some what looked like renovation work going on nearby but didn't affect us.

They didn't work for 3 out of the 4 days we stayed and noise was minimal. Can't wait to stay again. Loved it.

Great Location for touring the Cotswolds

Lovely cottage.

Very well equipped kitchen and beds very comfortable. Loved the electric fire so easy to use. A heated towel rail would have been lovely but we were not there long enough to worry too much about that

Its a perfect holiday spot; tucked away with easy access parking outside yet right in the heart of the town.

Its not a quirky period cottage with century old features, but a really well appointed, comfortable and exceptionally clean modern house. We liked the location- including the church tower clock chime that adds to the bygone feel for a holiday. Compared to other cottages we have stayed it in the area, very good value.

Hour Cottage is a perfect location to have a holiday in the Cotswolds.

It is clean and cosy and the owners cannot do enough for you. The neighbours are helpful and friendly. Parking is right at the front and there's room to manoeuvre easily. Stow provides an excellent location, with shops, lots of pubs, many allies to wander round and friendly, helpful residents. That's why we stay at Hour Cottage twice a year.

Little things such as the dishwasher being very difficult to use proved correct.

Everything else was as described and more. Comfortable, warm, everything we needed. Central, close to,Stow centre but far enough away so that we didn’t hear any traffic noises.

We had a very good experience with this cottage which was ideally situated for exploring the Cotswolds and surrounding areas.

The accommodation was comfortable and warm in keeping with the style, like home from home! We will definitely return.

Our booking was for 4 adults and an infant but on speaking to the owner it became apparent that no facilities were provided for an infant.

The owner was happy for us to take our own travel cot and high chair but it was a bit of a squeeze in the bedroom. The cottage itself is really nice and very central. I just don't think you should accept future bookings when an infant under 2 is included in the party.

Comfortable in a location where everything is easy to reach. Also nearby is a Tesco and an M&S shop. Stow on Wold has nice shops and Places to eat all within easy walking distance. Stow is also surrounded by beautiful villages and many National Trust Houses.

We were able to park the car and not use it for three days as we walked everywhere.

The property was comfortable, clean and well appointed re facilities, position in the area, off road parking.

Attention to detail was evident. Would certainly recommend this property.

Superb location in a quiet close just off the main road into town and only minutes to the shops, restaurants and pubs.

So you dont have to worry about parking or getting stuck in traffic. Very cosy house with all the facilities you would need. Lovely gas stove and wood burner to keep you warm on those chilly evenings. Very clean and well kept. Would definitely book again. Highly recommended as a great base for exploring the Cotswolds.

A lovely well equipped centrally located property to all the wonderful places in the cotswolds. I would recommend it to everyone.

In our opinion the main strength of this cottage is its location.

It is very easy to get to several places of interest with ease and with little mileage. M & S Simply Food together with a forecourt garage,just around the corner, was very convenient.

Perfect stay in beautiful Hour Cottage for our first family holiday with our young baby.

So well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Lovely quiet location (although off a busy road, the courtyard outside the cottage makes it feel so private and great for parking ) and just a short 5min walk to centre of beautiful Stow. The Cottage was spotlessly clean & check in and thorough instructions for all the appliances made our stay a breeze. We absolutely loved it & would love to stay again. Thank you

A very comfortable and well appointed cottage, very close to local amenities which meant one did not have to drive for everyday items.

Local public houses gave a good choice of meals and a very local M & S Store supplied our daily papers etc. only a few minutes walk away. Despite a heavy fall of snow during our stay we were able to relax and enjoy the cottage and its surroundings. Good to be able to park directly outside. Most certainly a cottage to consider again in the future.

Cottage was perfect for our needs.

Owners are friendly and wanting us to have a good holiday. The location is perfect to explore the Wolds and Stow is a friendly, well serviced village. All in all the perfect place and accommodation for a real good holiday.
