Completely cosy. All kitchen and bathroom fittings modern and efficient. Clever lighting as well. To be recommended.

Fabulous place.

Have thought of every little detail to make your stay comfortable. Perfect location as easy to walk everywhere. Only downside is times for check in as 5pm is very late for checking in and 10 very early for checkout.

Had a great stay at Benfield with my parents, husband, and toddler.

The property itself is charming, and we were all impressed by the well-stocked kitchen. The location was a great base for exploring the surrounding area, and we took advantage of the nearby coffee and pastries, pubs, and shops :) If I was looking to stay in Stow again, I'd certainly see if Benfield was available.

We had a great stay.

There were four of us and we had got together to do some hiking. There were some lovely routes. The property is in a great location. The rooms were comfortable, the kitchen and dining area worked well for us and the living room was also very comfortable. It would be great if the shower in the first floor bathroom was a bit more usable as otherwise guests are reliant on the second floor shower and the light switch for the front bedroom on the first floor is a little quirky (it can be mistaken for the bathroom light).

The property is amazing with a welcoming, cosy interior and an excellent location.

The room arrangements worked perfectly for our party, and the handmade soaps were much appreciated. The layout of living areas with plenty of natural lighting allowed us space to relax and use each area at different times of the day. There is plenty to offer in Stow-On-The-Wold, with places to browse around and eat. Parking was not an issue with street parking readily available in the streets mentioned in booking details. We had a beautiful few days away and would very much like to stay there again.

Perfect location in Stow and just right for the 6 of us plus 2 dogs .

Being picky, 4 bedrooms and only 1 shower would be tricky.

I would remove the bath and install another shower. Lovely place though

The cottage had everything we needed.

There was milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine on arrival which was a nice touch. Great position, minutes walk from the town, bakery a few minutes walk for bread and croissants. Lovely Indian takeaway within walking distance along with a Chinese, fish and chips and several pubs. Although there is no parking we parked in a road parallel to the cottage and walked down one of the alleyways. There is also a Marks & Spencer in the garage round the corner. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and exploring the surrounding towns

The cottage is spotless, well equipped and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated all the small touches, like the soaps, dog biscuits, ect. It all added to a perfect holiday. Thank you

We had a wonderful stay at Benfield cottage.

It is so cosy and central to one of the best villages in the Cotswolds. It provided an ideal base to explore other villages and walks. We would highly recommend this cottage to everyone. The kitchen is well stocked and the aga makes it even more cosy. I have trouble sleeping, and I worried about the road - but I didn’t hear a thing and slept extremely well in the comfy beds.

A lovely cottage with very good facilities and plenty of space.

Tons of character too! It is well located in the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold but parking is a bit of a challenge (options are described in the info). Only issue we experienced was the bath was very slow to drain.

Lovely cottage which didn't disappoint.

It's very quirky which adds to the cottages character. We had everything we could possibly need to make our stay very comfortable. The furnishings were spotless and I would give 10 out if 10 for cleanliness. Maybe a tad too many cushions but they were very nice ones. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Location for us was perfect too. I would definitely recommend the cottage.

A wonderful home from home.

Fabulous quirky tardis of a Cotswold cottage with literally everything provided. Our favourite room was the sun room with the day bed, such a brilliant idea. Beds super comfy (we loved the bedroom curtains too!) and surprisingly quiet even tho it’s on the main street and the town clock chimes every hour which we soon got used to. Parking was easy further down the street (time restricted in the white boxes) and so many quality eateries literally on the doorstep. Just a couple of things I think the listing should be clearer about-two sets of steep, windy but fairly short stairs to bedrooms, my parents are both 80 and were v grateful for the downstairs bathroom, and the outside area is literally postage stamp sized, not suitable for doggy ‘exercise’ but neither points really detracted from our week there. We also hid a few of the strong smelling diffusers as I don’t like them around dogs, but other than that, we absolutely recommend Benfield! Thank you Lindy for your beautiful home.

We had an excellent stay!

The cottage is cozy, comfortable and very well equipped. Very beautiful furnishings and comfortable beds. We enjoyed reading by the fireplace in the evening. The AGA took some getting used to, but there are good instructions provided. We had 4 adults in our party - I think 6 could feel a little crowded, since there is only one shower (the other full bath has only a tub). At first we had a hard time figuring out where to park our car, but we eventually found the Tesco carpark (about 10 minutes walking). We'd happily stay here again!

So here is the positives- the building, stone floors, beams, pieces of beautiful furniture Negative that really ruined our holiday.

Before we went and due to finances we planned to eat in most of the time. My husband has asthma and uses an inhaler, as soon as we arrived and opened the door there was a really overpowering smell of air freshener. There was numerous bottles of liquid air freshener containing the bamboo sticks, the smell was so strong and sweet that you could taste it when you was drinking. I removed numerous bottles, some even in plant pots of flowers. My husband really suffered with his breathing and used his inhaler several times a day. As we have been going to the cotswolds for 20 years this was supposed to be a restful time spent in the cottage but due to the smell even when I had moved the airfreshners outside we had to spend as much time as possible out of the cottage, which also meant eating out every night which isn’t what we wanted to do. Even though I moved them outside the yard area is very small so even when I had shut the door you could still smell them. I’m sure some more must have been buried in the house that I couldn’t find A few other small things there is that much stuff in the cottage you really lose the beauty of it it’s as if there has been a need to fill every space with something. There is well over 20 spoons, knifes and forks, lost count of how many bowls and coffee pots, what this also did was leave lack of space should you want to food shop and store I contacted Sykes and they was very good and offered to send someone round but there wasn’t anything they could do that I hadn’t Such a shame our holiday was ruined

Really lovely, character property.

Fantastic location, easy walking distance to all the shops and eateries in town, and just a few minutes drive to loads of days out and other pretty towns. Benfield has everything you need for a home from home experience, the kitchen is properly kitted out etc. It’s worth checking how to use an Aga if you’re likely to cook. Also the Aga makes the house quite warm. We took our 7 year old and crawling 1 year old, it was fine but it’s not small child friendly unless you are very careful as with the age of the property the floors are hard and uneven, the stairs are narrow and steep, and there’s quite a lot of furniture etc they can reach and potentially break. We were quite lucky the little one hadn’t started walking! The parking is fine, you pull up outside for loading and there’s lots of onstreet parking, even on the Bank Holiday. The management company were really helpful when we had a small issue and came that day to sort it.

We have just returned from a gorgeous week at Benfield.

The cottage is in the perfect location with so many lovely restaurants, coffee shops, and shops on the doorstep. We found the cottage so cosy and warm and loved returning to it after our days walking with our dog and exploring all the delights of the Cotswolds. The owner has literally thought of everything, including beautiful bed linen and comfy beds, softened and filtered water, everything you would ever need in a kitchen, laundry baskets in bedrooms. We would definitely look to stay here again.

Lovely property , with a very homely feel , beds really comfy , linen and pillows of a very good quality , the home made soaps are a nice touch , wine and chocolate cake was very thoughtful The outside space was very tiny and needs highlighting in the description for this property , especially as it welcomes pets.

(1st aid kit also needs monitoring better , no Plasters etc) Overall we can highly recommend this property but perhaps not with a dog. though

A beautiful cottage in a perfect location.

The cottage itself is sympathetically restored with beams, stone and wood floors with the wibbly wobbly charm of a cottage of its time. The owners have furnished the cottage with an eclectic mix of antiques that keep your eye exploring your entire stay. The location on sheep street means everywhere in Stow is no more than a 2 min walk. A very special place to stay.

Very well equipped kitchen - we loved cooking on the Aga and lots of lovely little touches that made it feel like a home rather than a holiday house. Great location and we were able to park nearby with ease. We would recommend to future guests.

We loved the house.

It’s very quirky, which we really liked. It’s has everything you could possibly need. The only thing I would mention is the noise from the road can be quite loud, but we got use to that.

Stayed for one week in Benfield with parents and our toddler.

We SO wanted to love this place after the great reviews on here and the pretty pictures. However, as charming as the cottage was, we couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed with a few elements. Let’s start with the good stuff. As I said, the cottage is utterly charming and the rural decor makes it welcoming and cosy. The downstairs space is great – it was nice to have ‘zones’, so in a big group you can separate off either into the front room, the dining area or the conservatory. They’re connected enough to not be isolating, so you can still chat from each room, but you’re not all cooped up in one communal area. The beds were really comfortable. As other reviews have commented, the road is busy and noisy, making it impossible to open the windows on a hot evening, but with some ear plugs, the less light sleepers among us had a good night’s sleep. The location was perfect for enjoying the many delights the Cotswolds has to offer. We did way more than we anticipated because there was so much on the doorstep and Stow-on-the-Wold itself is gorgeous, with lots of pretty little shops and some great pubs. On the downside, the courtyard area was unclean. Not sure when it was last swept, but the paving was dirty and the bench and cushions were filthy - making it pretty unappealing to sit out there. It’s such a shame because it could be a really great addition to the house, but at the moment it’s a real waste of the space. A large chunk of it is taken up by the Wheelie bin, which itself wasn’t quite big enough for a week’s worth of rubbish for a group of seven. Appreciate space is limited, but it could’ve been better organised. Maybe some housing around the bin. There was also no recycling bin, so everything ended up in one place. We didn’t expect there to be an Aga and no traditional oven (there’s a microwave, and mini oven in the pantry). While it was very beautiful, we had to rethink our evening meals somewhat and it made the downstairs area very hot on a warm summer’s day (it’s not advisable to turn off as it takes such a long time to heat up again). There was a wide array of crockery, utensils and cookware in the kitchen, but quite a few hadn’t been washed properly. The bathroom on the first floor has a beautiful roll top bath, but only a handheld shower head with no curtain or screen. So no matter how careful you were, the bathroom got soaked with water splashing either off the bath or your body. The bathroom on the second floor had such a low wattage bulb in it, we had to keep the door open to see what we were doing. We had a good experience with the owner - very prompt responses - and we were very grateful to be allowed to check in an hour early, but on the whole the cottage itself is currently a bit disappointing in places.

Beautiful cottage, it catered for our every need.

We didn't feel any need to seek assistance throughout our stay so we were very happy. All the facilities you could need, very warm with the AGA. Things to note: There are FOUR bedrooms, 3xDouble 1xTwin. two bedrooms to each upstairs floor each with a bathroom, plus one ground level wc. Parking was manageable, either free unlimited up by the traffic lights, or free 2hrs 8-6 (effectively free parking 4pm thru 10am) roadside approx 50yds away. Road noise can get loud especially in mornings as noted in the description. Would definitely book again!

The high standards of cleanliness, care and attention to detail were very evident all around.

Good quality bedding, towels and facilities. It is true there is many parking places but, with the exception of the those outside a local pub at the top of the main street, you are restricted to 2 hours between 9am and 6pm. The long stay car park, by Tesco is an easy 10 minute walk. Therefore, if you park your car locally, you must remember to move it before 11am and not re-park until 4pm. However, the house is stunning, the location fabulous and the local people a delight. Expensive toiletries in every room is a real nice and personal touch.

Lovely place - shame there is no parking.

The little conservatory with mirrors gives great light and is a nice touch. Lots of appliances and comfortable sofas. This is definitely a 4 bedroom cottage.

True English Cottage Experience , we loved staying in this cottage with everything to cosy beds and crooked floors.

well equipped with everything you need, very comfortable and in the Main Street. Parking was a little difficult with a big car, okay early morning or late afternoon to get a spot. Overall excellent!

An absolute gem of a place in the stunning Stow-on-the-Wold.

Stayed at Benfield with my family to celebrate my Father's birthday and we couldn't have been more delighted with the quirkiness, shabby chic decor & comfortable beds at the cottage. The Aga, the log fire burner in the lounge, the bright conservatory and the gorgeous bedrooms - basically we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Loved exploring the area too - so many pubs! Ventured to The Wild Rabbit for lunch in Kingham (10 mins drive away) and had a mosey round the stunning Daylesford Farm Shop. Definitely worth a visit!

Just what we were looking for in the Cotswold's.

We were so excited when we first looked inside....it was perfect for our needs! Stow on the Wold was a lovely village which proved to have everything we needed.

Fantastic place for staying in the heart of the Cotswolds.

With a car there are many things/places to see within 30mins drive. Stow is a beautiful small town, with plenty of shops (particularly for food) within 5 minutes' walk. Lovely, very old house (mind your head!). Aga stove for cooking and nice dining area. The kitchen is extremely well setup with loads of cooking pots and utensils (and, unusually, a really good set of cooking knives). Very cosy and decent-sized lounge, with stove burner in the fireplace. The hosts were very friendly and helpful in the lead-up to staying there, and everything was immaculate when we arrived. This cottage is beautifully furnished.

It's so cool and cozy, it's almost beyond description. The living room reminded us all of the Gryffindor Common Room from Harry Potter, warm and inviting.

My family and I recently stayed at the beautiful Benfield.

The pictures online really don't do this fabulous property justice. It was super warm and cosy and immaculately presented. \ It had everything you could want and need and all of the rooms, especially the kitchen, were extremely well equipped. We even managed to grapple with the aga!\ We'd highly recommend, the perfect family getaway in a stunning location - we'll definitely be going back.\
