The Old School

This is a superb apartment.

We cannot praise it enough, from the elegance of the building conversion, to the layout, decor and furnishings, to the fully equipped kitchen. The little touches like milk in the fridge, not to mention the Prosecco! Our dogs had a great time, safe and secure in the enclosed garden. Really convenient for lovely walks in the Forest of Dean, Symonds Yat, etc. We seriously did not want to go home! Fabulous.

First time here and what you see on the pictures is exactly what you got.

Lovely little cottage. Lovely little extras (Prosecco and milk) on arrival. Even our dog thought she had a treat with a water bowl outside for her. Only thing would say we thought the takeaway was in walking distance but it was quite abit of a walk away but we still enjoyed it all Thank you

A lovely small house that was spotlessly clean.

There was a wide range of equipment and great WiFi. Nice touch with the bottle of Prosecco. The bedrooms were lovely and beds comfortable. The small garden was perfect for the dog to stretch its legs.

The Old School is a clean, modern accommodation set within an old school building.

We found the house was lacking nothing for our short stay, the Prosecco and the fresh milk in the fridge was a nice gesture. The house is a short distance from the nearest pub, and numerous takeaways are available in Cinderford. The info book suggested the Fork And Spoon for Chinese, this was closed on the day we wanted so used the Lotus which we would recommend. Spoilt for a choice of walks in the area, we tried Linear Park locally and further afield in the forest. Would not hesitate to stay at the Old School again.

The Old School House is a wonderful place to stay - immaculate, comfortable and a great location for exploring the Forest.

We loved the Old School a beautiful property with everything we could have wished for including a safe garden for Meg our dog.

The location was perfect for visiting Gloucester, the Dean Valley Railway and all the Forestry sites including Symonds Yat. The weather was lovely which was an added bonus.

Lovely cottage everything you need very dog friendly

This was the second time we have stayed at The Old School.

Such a nice place to stay. It has all the comforts of home and is in an ideal location for attractions. Our pooches loved the garden and with the forest a five minute drive away, they had plenty of long walks. Would definitely recommend The Old School and will be retuning again next year.

The cottage was clean and mostly well equipped, however it isn’t in a great location.

Cinderford is not the most picturesque place!! Tesco is the only decent shop. The bathroom needs a lot more storage space, there is nowhere to put your stuff, only the floor or the top of the toilet!

This was a wow property on arrival and extremely comfortable and suitable for our 2 dogs and safe for them with the main door open.

Location wise it was very central and accessible and we went visiting local attractions including walking through the woods. Good relaxed holiday in a special place.

We had a lovely weeks stay at The Old School.

It is an ideal base to be able to explore the Forest of Dean and its many walking trails. The house was very clean and comfortable and with a secure back garden which was helpful as we have two lively hounds.

Loved our stay in the dog friendly cottage and we be back as location is so convenient for Forest of Dean walks.

Lovely and clean and comfy with everything we needed for our stay. Totally secure garden for our dog which is a must. Great touch with the welcome gifts even a bowl of water for our dog which she headed straight for. Lovely comfy bed and slept really well. Communication with the owner was spot on. Well maintained, lovely enclosed garden, well equipped and very dog friendly. Welcome pack of wine, milk and water. Full marks.

We found the cottage very clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The only negative things we have to say are that road was extremely noisy and busy and did detract from our enjoyment and that we needed instructions on how to work the television and dishwasher which we couldn't find. There was no mention in the cottage description that there wasn't an aerial to the television. There wasn't a visitors' book to be able to read previous holiday makers' suggestions of places to visit which has always been helpful in past holidays.

What a lovely place!

We had a great stay, the old school building has been really nicely converted, and it’s very tastefully furnished. We had everything we needed, and it proved to be the perfect base for our excursions into the Forest of Dean. We will definitely stay again when we’re visiting the area.

We enjoyed our stay at The Old School very much.

The property was spotless, and the facilities were excellent. Milk, tea, coffee, and bottled water in the fridge on arrival were very welcome. The Old School is conveniently located as there are many attractions within easy driving distance. The enclosed garden was ideal for our pooches. There are many forest walks within a five minute drive. Local Tesco and other shops also five minutes away. The communication with Lainey was very good. We will be returning to the Old School next year. Highly recommend.

Although I have some negative review points listed below, the property was clean, tidy and modern.

The road outside was an issue as we didn’t realise just how busy the road would be, there was a lot of traffic noise even with the windows closed. It would be nice to have the choice of different pillows. I had to put a blanket from downstairs over the closed curtains in the second bedroom as my son found it too light due to no blackout blind or blackout curtains.

Overall a lovely little break- bonus bits that there is now a TV in the main bedroom which isn't on listing (this had been shared in previous feedback), the bottle of wine was an extra added touch.

Somethings just to help in future would be instructions on how to use heating system as someone had set it to come on and the weather was way to warm for this- we finally figured out how to turn it off, also a mop would be helpful as although there is a mat and our dog let's you wipe his paws it would have just helped to keep the property nice and clean. Overall the property has been done to a lovely standard.

A perfect base to explore the Forest of Dean.

This is a beautifully presented cottage with a lovely host for whom nothing is too much trouble.

We have no hesitation in recommending The School House as a great place to stay for a holiday in The Forest.

Property was fantastic and had everything we needed.

Gorgeous holiday home, it was immaculate with everything we could possibly need and all in excellent order.

Staying here was an absolute joy, the shower is great, the garden is fab and very private, the owners have gone above and beyond to ensure a good stay. Yes the traffic noise is very loud at times, as to be expected on a main road, we would definitely stay here again and can definitely recommend.

The cottage was very clean and tidy, as was the garden area.

Very secure as my dog enjoyed wandering around without the worry of escaping. Would recommend A tv in the bedroom as some people like to stretch out and watch tv in bed.

We had a 5* stay at the old school.

Lovely little cottage, newly rennovated and immaculately clean. Had all the amenities we needed for a week and more. Great secure garden for our little dog. Owners very helpful and attentive. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend - couldn't ask for more!

Really lovely little place to stay.

Beautifully furnished and clean. It was my old primary school so was very keen to stay and feel a little nostalgic, it was very comforting.

Extremely clean, comfortable, well equipped and a great base for exploring the area.

Immaculate cottage, everything you might need was provided.

Forest walks & places to visit all nearby, we saw deer, ponies and boar. Gardens neat & secure fencing, both to keep dogs in & the wild boars out ( yes, we had a 3am visit by a family of piggies going through the recycling bins, I loved seeing them) Only downside was traffic noise during am/pm rush, but the property is on a road so hey. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!

Superb property.

Very high standard. Extremely well suited and prepared for furry friends. Never normally revisit places we have been but this is one we would have no qualms returning to..

Beautifully developed 2 bedroom house which was originally a school.

A great deal of thought has gone into providing guests with what they would like and need. This they have achieved `hands down` There is space to park two cars, off road, and there is a a charger for an EV. The location is close to two supermarkets and there is very good access to the Forest of Dean and the Wye valley. We will return again. David and Clare Jackson

This is a little gem hidden away in a small village by the Forrest of Dean.

If you fancy a break from the smoke, here you’ll find fresh air and plenty of walking routes. And lovely pubs too, I recommend the Lyons Inn. Great Sunday Lunch! The property itself is brand new and super clean. The flower pots in the garden are a lovely touch! Lainey, the host was super helpful when we left a jacket behind she was more than happy to post it to us! Cannot recommend enough!

I would highly recommend this property ,it was very well presented and clean when we arrived, the enclosed garden was great as we had our dog with us and we felt it was very safe for her to run about in it .

The bike storage was an added bonus so our bikes were locked away safe . We found the location very handy for cycling in the forest me and my son managed to find a path in to the forest just at the bottom of the hill which took us on to the family biking trail which goes all the way round the forest which was Fantastic. The only negative comment I would make is we were surprised at how fast cars travel down the road and how noisy they are . But overall a very nice place to stay .

Absolutely delightful cottage in a perfect location for exploring lots of brilliant attractions.

Beautifully decorated cottage with pretty much everything we needed and a blissful absence of clutter. Slept well thanks to it being lovely and quiet with comfy beds. Thank you!

Modern, well equipped and clean.

Everything is tasteful and works well. Owners have done a good job. Only problem is that the cottage is right on a very busy road. So there is constant noise even with windows closed. Garden is more noisy.
