The Old Dairy delivers lovely dog friendly accommodation.

It has everything you need & the kitchen is well equipped. The secure garden was lovely for the dog. The owner is very friendly & available if you need him for anything. This wasn't our first time here & won't be our last.

The cottage was everthing it says in the listing comfortable modern and well equiped.

Newnham is lovely so friendly and had everthing you needed. We loved everthing about it.

This is our second stay here and won’t be our last great accommodation, Steve has thought of everything fantastic walks pubs and shops close by a really lovely getaway

Great property great place to chill and our dog loved the run of the field.

Disappointed this time as there was multiple stains on the dining chairs & curtains. Mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. We loved the log burner as we were toastie in the wet weather.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in.

Done out to a high standard,the cottage offers everything for a home from home, even down to the small details. Steve the owners was on hand if needed and offered some great tips for the local area and village. The village is less than 10 minutes walk with a well stocked and friendly convenience store and three pubs all dog friendly. Sunday roast at the White Hart Inn is a must. The cottage itself is excellently located to explore the forest of Dean, we especially liked Soudley Ponds and Mallards Pike again dog friendly. If you visit Mallards Pike 5 minutes drive is The Rising Sun, wonderful food recommended visit. Overall couldn't fault our relaxing week at The Old Diary, we had a great chilled time and our old Staffy loved the secluded garden.

Very nice property.

Good location for all the activities in the area. The cottage was well equipped. A very enjoyable and relaxing time was had by my wife and I. We would certainly return at a future date. Maybe a bigger bed and mattress would make the stay perfect.

The cottage is in a fantastic location, easy access to many places.

It is very spacious and ideal if you have a dog. It was well equipped, like home from home. Only negative, the garden table and BBQ could do with a revamp. I am am planning to rebook and would definitely recommend. The owner Steve is friendly and very accommodating.

We were comfortable and relaxed. No issues and owner there if needed but without intruding on your break. Soudley ponds is a gem whether hot, cold or rainy. We love it. We will be back next year. Thank you

Unfortunately our immediate impression was with disappointment due to the entrance to property.

Full of weeds and overgrown. Upon entering the property the space was immense and beautiful bright and airy, but unfortunately this just emphasised the stains on the sofa,dining chairs and curtains. We have dogs but the cushions and throw provided was full of dog hair that we put to one side and used our own.The welcome door mat really had seen better days. The outdoor table and chairs very in a very dirty state and it wasn’t recent. Bit worrying about various wires hanging oout of walls and not knowing if they were live or not ? One in the garden, lounge, wardrobe,boiler cupboard ? More than generous supply of logs for the fire, but we didn’t need with the weather. There were many comments we had read on line and in the comments book about how super clean it was, but sorry we didn’t experience that. With a bit of TLC this could be spectacular. Great location for a short stop travelling south. The village itself is easy to walk to, if you can manage a bit of a big hill. A quaint town with very friendly locals. Met the owner who was a very pleasant man

Very comfortable and enjoyable three night stay.

Peaceful location but not too isolated. Would recommend and return .

The property itself was nice and clean.

There were a few minor issue such as lights that didn't work and an oitside door lock that was jammed. The main issue for me was the noise. As the property was very close to a major road and also a railway line, I found it to be rather disturbing, particularly at the weekend and at night.

This was our second time staying at the Old Dairy .

It’s in a great location with walks straight into the forest . You are so near to the town with its great pub the black pig and the shop which did the best take away coffees . The White hart just up along on the river serves the most delicious food and Sunday lunch was amazing. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean with so much space and very comfortable . Lovely private sunny garden and a huge tv if you want an evening in to just relax . All in all 10 out of 10 !

This was my second time staying at The Old Dairy and I've already booked to stay again.

The Old Dairy has a lovely relaxed atmosphere , is very clean and has everything you need. My dog and I enjoyed the walk each morning straight from the door, through the field up to Newnham and back down through the church.

We had a lovely stay and the accommodation is more than big enough for two people.

We wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

We had a lovely holiday in The Old Dairy.

Everything we could possibly need was provided for us including linen and towels. The log fire which we lit each evening made the sitting/dining room very cosy. The kitchen was particularly well appointed with double oven, hob, microwave, toaster and air fryer. The wardrobes in the bedroom are of high quality and the fully enclosed garden was a very safe space for our two dogs. We would most certainly revisit.

A beautiful cottage set just a short walk from the Severn.

The cottage was well stocked with logs for the log burner and had everything you needed (kitchen goods, towels, books, DVDs etc) our dogs were very settled there and we spent a lovely couple of days just relaxing. Steve was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will definitely return.

The Old Dairy is a welcoming ,spacious and warm holiday home with everything you need and a good sized secure garden .

It is the cleanest place I have stayed in . My dog and I love walking at Mallards Pike and Soudley ponds .

We have just spent a wonderful week with our 2 shihtzu dogs so the secure garden was great to let them out in the morning and evening.

We spent everyday travelling around to different areas Tewksbury,Gloucester cathedral (town is not very nice),Ross on wye,symonds yak,Bourton on water,Soudley ponds and many more We ate at The Penny Farthing which was really nice home cooked food (not open all day for food) We ate 4 times at the White Hart which seems extreme but the food was so nice and we seem to have breakfast and eat early 4-6pm and spend the evenings chilled around the fire watching tv. I gave 4 stars because the place could do with a deep clean/freshen up,sofa cleaned (we took throws) The front needs tidying up (first impressions) the front step and patio needs a jetwash as it was very slippery! Steve is such a lovely man and kept us well stocked with logs and there for you if you need anything and you feel very safe and secure there We can understand why the guest book showed many repeat bookings

The old dairy what can I say a fantastic place cozy with everything you needed lovely surroundings nice little micro bar about 30min away jus great to relax after a day out exploring and my little dog loved the garden

Wonderful location, and a wonderful owner.

Steve is helpful but not obtrusive. Facilities are very good too. The property and surroundings could do with a bit of a spruce up now - particularly the shower room and the weeds of the entrance courtyard. But these minor issues shoudln't put anyone off coming to this cottage.

I booked this years holiday while still here last year, I loved it that much.

Airy, quite, clean , safe enclosed garden for tilly my dog.For me a great retreat but not too far away from servies , shops, vets, etc !

Beautifully clean and well thought out , fantastic to have a truly secure gardens for the dogs !

Meant that one could really relax when they were out there, being able to see them ,from all rooms made it easy too. We had everything we needed, the little shop in Newnham was great and easy to walk to. As bell ringers it was lovely to hear the church bells on Sunday morning

Only a minor point but it would be helpful to have more glasses and mugs.

The Old Dairy was comfortable warm and very welcoming .

The Log burner was a bonus . Mr Yarworth the host was very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Our Dog Cooper was very happy that he could run around the field to his hearts content and the garden was completely secure . We have no hesitation in recommending the Old Dairy and would certainly consider booking it again for ourselves. The box of chocolates waiting for us on our arrival was a nice gesture. We really enjoyed our stay in The Old Dairy.

It was really comfortable & clean. It had everything we needed and Dolly, our dog, was safe and secure in the back garden. Also, she was allowed access to the fields at the property. Mr Yarworth, the owner, was friendly, helpful and available if needed. We were very lucky with the weather but could have happily just stayed in the cottage. Will definitely return.

Lovely cottage.

Only had a couple of days but enjoyed the village and it's wonderful position. A few touches in the cottage to make it a bit cosier but otherwise lovely

The old dairy was spacious, comfortable and we had everything we needed for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

We spent time exploring the Forest of Dean. The area is exceptionally beautiful and everywhere we went people were friendly. Plenty of country pubs to visit and places to eat. I wish I were younger and could have taken advantage of the lovely walks nearby, however we were still able to appreciate the countryside. Thank you Steve for a warm welcome and a super holiday. .

The Old Dairy Amazing contemporary barn conversion, light and airy In lovely farm settings with secure garden for the dogs and also secure fields for them to exercise, the village is less than 10 min walk with small shop and 2 pubs (the Black Pig was favourite real ale and dog friendly), Gloucestershire is a beautiful part of the country especially the walks in the Forest of Dean

Although the property was well equipped, there were some issues with maintenance throughout the property and grounds.

There were a lot of cobwebs in rooms, the venetian blinds had a thick layer of dust on them. The shower cubicle back panel was grubby and needs replacing. The sealant outside the cubicle is black and mouldy, needs to be resealed. The kitchen extractor didn’t work and the kitchen taps constantly dripped.We felt the garden out back was neglected somewhat with overgrown weeds covering the steps, grass could've been cut and the patio table was filthy with bird poo which wasn't fresh. The front courtyard was untidy with weeds not like the photograph in the listing and the car park had rubbish along the wall which was unsightly.

Lovely, helpful owner. Comfortable bed. Nice and spacious property and a nice safe garden for our dog. Lovely surrounding area with nice and easy drive over to Monmouth and Chepstow and also into the south Cotswolds. We will definitely book again.

Very spacious, clean and comfortable accommodation. Great for our blind dog who enjoyed the garden and large adjacent field. Lots to see and do in the area. Loved our stay. Wanted to book again but the property is very popular and deservedly so. Would recommend this property without hesitation.

The cottage was ideal for our stay with our 2 dogs.

The location is great quiet and relaxing with plenty of attractions within a short drive. Local walks along the river footpath and through the village are lovely. The cottage was fantastic, clean, comfortable and with everything we needed to make our stay memorable. This is the second time we have stayed at a property at this farm, the first being at the Mallard and this time the Old Dairy. We would highly recommend either of these properties for anyone who wants to just chill, relax and enjoy the local area

We enjoyed our stay at the dairy, very comfortable dog friendly place we would recommend it and hope to return sometime in future.

Only thing missing was a boot tray by door would have been handy as our weather was rain most days. Plus some coat hooks to hang the wet coats on. But other than that fabulous and our dog Rolo loved it!

One of the best one bed places we have stayed in with our two greyhounds.

Plenty of room for the four of us plus a fully enclosed garden with high fencing. Cottage was lovely, clean, cosy, well equipped all anyone could wish for. Apart from a king size bed that I think the large bedroom would have benefited from. We have one & did miss it. Apart from that it wouldn't put us off from returning.

wonderfull cottage and great locations for walks and village

Really lovely property, upon entering through the door both me and wife said "wow!

!" Tiled floor throughout made it easy to keep clean and the secure garden to the rear was perfect for our dogs. There was everything you need in the kitchen, although I did have to do a bit of research to get the oven to work because i couldn't find an instruction booklet; (only the top part of the oven works if the clock is not set, to set the time, press the second and third button in together, hold them in and use the + or - buttons to the desired time then let go.) All in all, an absolutely lovely property. We left our wood basket outside the front door as instructed and it was refilled almost instantly, and it was Christmas Day!! I do apologise for requesting more wood on Christmas Day but I thought we'd be ok until Boxing day. Thank you very much for our box of chocolates with our new logs. It was a really nice touch. We would love to stay again some time! Thank you!!

This property was a lot bigger than we expected absolutely gorgeous and well equipped perfect for our little getaway.

Central to a lot of things no matter what you like, we spent a lot of time in the Forest of Dean. The Lyon pub which was only 10 minutes drive did a scrumptious Sunday dinner and the white heart pub 5mins drive did a lovely tea also and I can imagine great in the summer looking over the Severn. Takes dogs as well so recommended it to my daughter as there is a lovely walk over the field right outside the back garden. Local post office and shop had the bare necessities in and they were very friendly. Tesco ect only 15min drive away for anything else. Thoroughly lived my stay and will definitely be going back next year as a lot more to see and visit xx

Very spacious, well equipped clean and tidy, secure for our dog.

Not the romantic stay I was hoping for but we enjoyed it anyway. Could have done with a bit of tidying outside of the property on front and back but on whole good value for money.

Great mini stay with the dogs.

God enclosed garden space makes it much easier. Spacious living area and bedroom. A king or super king size bed would have made our stay a little better and also a door onto the bedroom as to keep the dogs out easier too.

What a fabulous week we had at The Old Dairy, most properties on Sykes give the impression of being bigger than they actually are, this is the opposite, we were expecting it to be small, but its very spacious, large living area/bedroom, good kitchen area, bathroom etc.

Very warm, heating was on a lot. Garden is a decent size, perfect for our 2 largish dogs. Whilst there we had a couple of issues which Steve the owner did his best to sort out. The fields at the back of the property are ideal to walk the dogs, be careful of the sheep though. At the front of the property if you cross the main road, there is a footpath which is lovely walk along the River Severn. Newnham has a superb little Post Office, which seems to stock everything, it even doubles up as a cafe. There are 3 pubs, the nearest 2 are the black pig & the railway inn, they are great little pubs, but they dont do food, however the white hart which is about a 25 minute walk does great food & is well worth the walk. For days out, Monmouth is well worth a visit, as is Ross on Wye, the Dean Forest steam railway is close & again is worth going to, we went to Gloucester & had a canal trip which was great.

The converted barn was lovely and well equipped.

Well situated with lots to see and do, all within a short driving distance. The dogs loved the garden and surrounding grounds.

The host was very friendly, the cottage was perfect I would happily live there.

The area was nice lots of lovely walks with the dog, and jumped in the car to go further afield like Malvern, Chepstow, Ross on wye. Forest of dean walks also great for the dog. We had a fab time and will definitely return.

We found the old dairy to be very tired looking , there was also electrical cables hanging loose in places in wardrobe and hanging from ceiling , the garden was nicely enclosed but again wasn’t looked after with weeds all along the patio wall , there was an electrical cable sticking out of the grass not sure if dead or live , the glass table outside was dirty , the curtains that were on the back French doors and the couch was full of stains , the area around the cottage was also very scruffy , We were very disappointed and would not recommend this property to anyone .

We had a lovely peaceful week at the property and Missy the dog loved the enclosed garden We live in a city so being able able to sit and listen to the birds singing was wonderful

It is a lovely restful place to stay.

Very comfortable, airy and warm. For comfort this was the best place I have stayed in. It was also the biggest and very spacious. The village is fascinating and the local area beautiful. It was a really relaxing break.

A really super cottage with very roomy secluded garden.

The lounge area was very comfortable with large screen television and DVD player for relaxing in the evenings. The on site owners were very charming and helpful. We will certainly come again.

No need to bring anything except your personal needs. The Dairy was situated in a beautiful setting with a lovely private garden. Great base to get to surrounding areas of interest. Would definitely recommend others to visit and is very dog friendly.

Lovely property, big secure garden for the dog.

Had a good time relaxing and going for long walks, just me and Dylan, bliss. I have stayed here before and will no doubt return again.

Very last min find literally on the day , cottage was perfect for my friend and I for short stay , easy to find , close to areas of forest of dean we wanted to see would definitely use again , only 2 points a proper tools to clean fire grate didn't like leaving it used and a spare single / Duvet and pillow would have been handy .

The owner, Steve, greeted us on arrival and was very friendly and informative.

The property was as described as well as being impeccably clean and nice and warm on a chilly November evening. Couldn't have asked for more. Very dog-friendly, completely secure rear garden and allowed the run of a field of several acres.

A lovely cottage with a very friendly and helpful owner and well situated close to the Severn and the delightful village of Newnham.

Our little dog loved the walks through the fields and we appreciated the fact that the main places which interested us(eg Tintern,Monmouth etc) were within easy reach. We would wholeheartedly recommend the Old Dairy for couples who like us want a comfy "home from home"with relaxtion as an absolute given.We shall go back.

The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable.

It would have been nice for an electrical socket near a mirror,or a mirror nearer to an existing socket Also a chair in the bedroom for clothes etc. Also, maybe, instructions on how to use cooker, tv etc. We managed with trial and error and everything was ok.

Absolutely loved this little gem, Steve the owner was so warm and welcoming not intrusive but there if you needed anything.

Spotlessly clean everything you wanted was in the property we loved our cozy nights in . Minnie our little doggie loved the enclosed garden very spacious and a really large patio area for her to run free. Would highly recommend to everyone can’t wait to rebook.

Beautiful cottage - everything you need and a great location - better than expected and spotlessly clean.

Only feedback is to be prepared to drive out to eat...only due to current situation - as nothing really open...apart from the White hart - approx half hour walk (take a torch as no street lights). If, like us, you prefer to self cater there is a lack of cooking trays....but that is it - and hardly worth mentioning as everything else gets 11/10 - thank you for a lovely break :)

Had a lovely break at the Old Dairy, it was perfect for what I was looking for.

The owner was available if needed but I had no problems. The accommodation was so clean and comfortable and beyond my expectations. I would definitely recommend and intend to visit again,

Great one bedroomed cottage on open plan.

Tiled floors throughout. Enclosed garden through French Doors perfect for the dog.Own parking space 30 yards from cottage- across the courtyard. Owner friendly and helpful. Wifi a bit intermittent. O2 Mobile connection in the area is poor, like being in Cornwall, which is a surprise. Couple of pubs in the village, the White Hart does food about 1.5miles on the main road.

Lovely, spacious and airy cottage with everything needed for a relaxing break.

The garden and the field are very secure and the dogs loved them. Perfect location for walks in the Forest of Dean and surrounding area. The churchyard is the perfect location to watch the start of the Severn bore if you are lucky enough to be there when it happens. But more importantly Steve is great and nothing is too much trouble for him. Would we go back? Yes we would!

Accommodation is on a busy road although you can't see the traffic it can be heard.

Bathroom needs a really good clean. Mould is found around areas of the shower. Desperately needs painting. Very basic kitchen cooking equipment. No cleaning materials left. i.e. sink cleaner. Work top cleaner. Toilet cleaner. Bleach. Would be nice to have.

Lovely cottage, tasteful and stylish, retaining its rustic charm whilst also providing a very comfortable and cosy living space.

The host, a gentleman called Steve, was truly wonderful, helpful, kind and attentive to the needs of his guests. I highly recommend this cottage, nestled in a beautiful spot with rural outlook, the river Severn right on the doorstep, great walks locally with the added bonus of a fast road linking to all major towns such as Gloucester, Chepstow and Ross on Wye.

It was a lovely cottage with a fenced garden ideal for our little dog.

Could have done with a little more crockery and one kitchen cupboard had onion skins in it. Also freezer was quite iced up. The bed was rather small. The supply of logs was excellent, also the wood burner. Wonderful settee with two recliners. Would definitely use the cottage again. I have recommended it to my daughter who has two dogs. Very convenient for visiting our grand daughter at university near by and inviteder for lunch once.

From a TV with option to watch your Netflix to an amazon echo you can set an alarm with. A large enclosed garden which our furry friend Star loved relaxing in. The bed was very comfy as was the sofa. The kitchen has a fridge and separate freezer so you can stock up your own food. There are however many dog friendly pubs locally and in the wider area. The sculpture trial is a must with a furry companion. Ideal location for everything you will possibly want to do. Owner Steve is very friendly and nothing to much trouble I left two coats behind and he went back boxed them up and sent them back to me. We offered to pay postage but he wouldn't accept anything. Would recommend and will hopefully be back

Local pubs and restaurants very good and scenery amazing and no shortage of things to do and see.

We absolutely loved The Old Dairy and Steve was fantastic!

We enjoyed it so much that we stayed an extra night. Our two Boston terriers had such fun in the fully enclosed garden, coming in and out of all the doors that open from the open plan lounge and bedroom. The log burner was heaven and Steve kindly gave us extra logs and kindling. We had three glorious evenings sunbathing on the reclining chairs in the garden which isn’t overlooked at all. The dairy is ideally situated for the forest of dean where we went on several walks. Need to recommend the woodsman pub, a newly refurbished gorgeous country dog friendly pub in Parkend which serves amazing food for lunch and dinner. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

Lovely converted barn which had everything you needed & a good enclosed garden that led onto fields for the dog lovers.

Local pub 5 mins walk away, but be prepared for the steep hill!

Beautiful location very quiet, accommodation five star highly recommend.

Everything you needed is provided. Enclosed garden is a bonus for dog. Superb location for walking. Steve the owner was so friendly and helpful and had lots of local knowledge. Will definitely return.

The bathroom had a damp smell & the showe neede a good clean.

We were not aware that only a thin unlined curtain separated the bedroom from the living area & that did not stretch completely to the wall.

Such a lovely place to stay.

There was a pond at the back of the property. Very peaceful. The accommodation was lovely. We loved the log burning stove. Would highly recommend

Overall we enjoyed our stay and the surrounding area was really nice.

The issue with the cottage was the poor cleanliness of the kitchen and bathroom. We needed to clean the kitchen and bathroom thoroughly, before we felt comfortable to use them. The bathroom is in need of re-decoration. The kitchen is also not very well equipped in some aspects e.g. the crockery supplied is of a poor standard and some mugs were chipped - not good. That said, once we had spent 2 hours cleaning, we had a great time there. Steve, the owner, gave us some local advice re eating out. It felt really safe there. Newnham itself is really nice and there are lots of places to visit. The garden was a real plus, Some of the fixtures and fittings were also to a good standard. This could be a really good cotttage if some more attention was paid to cleanliness and finishing touches.

The place was perfect for what we needed.

It’s so lovely to be able to get away with the dogs and it still feel comfortable. Loved the property would highly recommend as the perfect peaceful get away.

The owner introduced himself and kindly let us know where he was if we needed anything. The cottage was comfortable, clean,warm and had all facilities needed. We have had a fabulous time and would definitely recommend this cottage. We will definitely be back.

This is a gorgeous cottage with a great enclosed garden for the dog near a lovely little village.

It had everything needed for a relaxing break. I managed to leave my iPad behind and the owner was great and rang me as soon as they found it hoping I hadn’t gone too far to go back for it. Unfortunately I had gone too far so he kindly offered to post it back to me but I made arrangements to collect it a few days later instead.

Lovely owner who left you to your own devices but was there if required anything.

He even went out of his way to say goodbye due to meeting us because we were pretty much out all of the time. Nice man nice place would recommend definitely.

The location was idea for us to visit relatives in Gloucester and also the Forest If Dean.

The cottage was great, comfortable, light and well kept. It had a great sofa with recling chairs and a log burner. I would go go back again without a doubt.

It had everything we could have wanted and more. The village itself is quite small but the cottage is in a fantastic location for exploring the Forest of Dean. We only met the owner briefly but he was very helpful! Would love to stay here again!

Excellent cottage in a great location - perfect for walks and a short walk into town.

The cottage is larger than it looks in the photographs and the garden is secure and perfect for letting a dog run around. Friendly and helpful owner close by if and when required.

Cottage is lot bigger then in picture nice garden perfect if traveling with dogs and use off field to run dogs in right onside the back gate , owner left bottle milk in fridge for us to have tea or coffee And tea coffee and sugar was there has well

The cottage was very spacious, characterful yet modern and well equipped.

A real pleasure to stay in, and good location for the Forest of Dean. Only disadvantage was there was constant road noise as it's situated just off the A38 - not a problem unless you're in the garden and noise annoys you!

The old dairy very clean and very comfortable with wellcome tea coffe milk.

Outside big patio with great chairs and barby+high fence to keep my dog in +a gate to a big field for her to run.A good weeks holiday.

The holiday cottage was perfect very spacious had a great sized garden that is all fenced off and very private,great if you have a dog, the place had everything you could possibly need, very clean and comfortable, felt like a home away from home straight away.

The owner was super friendly and was very helpful. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

The Old Dairy was even better equipped than your website lists, a real woodstove, a large wifi tv and an Amazon Echo (think i'll be getting one now!

). Loved the totally enclosed garden we could leave the doors open and our dog could go in and out safely. Met the owner who was very friendly and helpful. Loved the area. Thank you.

Can't fault accommodation, brilliant.

Newnham itself is a very limited village, only had pub, post office, pharmacy and doctors, but still managed to get around to other towns and villages.
