“It was a short break but we loved every minute of it.”

The girls loved playing with Charlie and always pleased to see him. The property was lovely and comfortable and the views were spectacular. We loved exploring the woods that were literally across the road. Great places to cycle and lovely little towns surrounding the area. We are hoping to return for a bit longer next time. The hosts were lovely and very accommodating. A great place to stay and get away from it all and go back to nature. Thank you.

The property

Yorkley 1.1 miles.

A superb all ground floor barn conversion set in the grounds of the owner's home on the southern edge of the Forest of Dean.

A bright and cheery feel is evident as you enter this property with its spacious open plan living area complete with kitchen, dining area to seat all guests, and comfortable sitting area from where the lovely views can be enjoyed.

The two bedrooms are positioned at either end of the living area, both with views over the garden and countryside beyond.

Two sets of doors from the living area lead to the front garden, a pleasant area to sit, relax and take in the sounds of the countryside, enjoy alfresco dining or a summer barbecue.

Next door to the cottage is a useful drying room with washing machine.

Enjoy walks or bike rides from the cottage and perhaps stop for refreshment at one of the traditional pubs in the area or visit one of the many farm shops.

For the more active there is an abundance of activities to be enjoyed in the forest.

Just a short drive away are the ancient caves of Clearwell, the riverside town of Ross-on-Wye and the Severn Estuary, famous for its tidal bore, and a delight for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.

A wonderful cottage for a romantic break or small family holiday, to be enjoyed all year round.
