Golden Valley Barn

We loved our stay at the barn.

The accommodation itself was beautifully decorated, with everything we could need. The hosts were just next door and very helpful if we needed anything, as well as the added bonus of delicious homemade cakes and fresh eggs. The location was well placed for visiting lots of interesting attractions, with the benefit of being able to come home and relax in the beautiful large garden. There was a table tennis table and lots of space for the kids to run around. We would recommend to others and will be booking to return next year!

One of the best quality cottages I have stayed in.

Extremely well equipped and immaculate condition. Great location for visiting a number of villages, towns and cities. We were very well looked after by the host who was on hand for any assistance or guidance. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for high standards in their choice of accommodation.

Hi.

Golden Valley Barn was awesome. We loved it. Such a high standard of comfort, cleanliness and facility. It had everything we needed and more. We met the owner Catherine who was just lovely and she had baked some cakes and left them in the fridge for our arrival - lovely touch. She also brought us a fan too because of the extremely hot weather. This is the 7th Sykes cottage I have stayed in in various parts of the UK and its the best one. The grounds the barn is situated on are also gorgeous. Anything to improve on or faults....nope, not one single thing. Thanks for a brilliant stay...my Sis and I loved it. Improved our ping pong too!!

We really enjoyed our stay at Golden Valley Barn.

The house itself was gorgeous, clean, safe and had all we needed for a comfortable stay. The surrounding area and property was stunningly beautiful and the hosts were absolutely lovely and very accommodating, even going so far as to bake us a lovely cake as a welcome gift! We spent the week exploring surrounding areas including Thornbury, Berkeley, Bath, Weston and Gloucester. We would 100% book again and return. Thank you ever so much for a lovely stay!

The cottage is beautiful and well maintained, and it is situated in a nice quiet area.

The owner is very friendly and also makes children feel comfortable and welcome. This was our second visit, and we hope to go back soon.

Stayed here twice in the last 3 years, its a lovely quiet and peaceful place surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife.

Lots of places to see and do within driving distance and its close to the Severn Way walking path. The local community shop does great coffee and cakes and is handy for anything you missed at the shops in Thornbury. Friendly and helpful owners are resident on site if any problems arise.

The property is well presented and well maintained.

The location is pleasant and conducive to a relaxing holiday. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. A nice quiet location in which to relax.

There were some initial communication problems with the owner before arrival and clearer signage on reaching the property would have been helpful.

No other problems, the property was of a very high standard.

Beautiful property and location.

Local pub and community shop/cafe a pretty 30min walk away and well worth a visit. Vic and Catherine very welcoming and helpful. Slimbridge 30mins away and a superb day out. As advertised, the WiFi does take some patience. Many picturesque villages to visit - the Frampton area particularly so - we even saw an Osprey!

Beautiful property within an excellent setting.

On the owners property with lovely gardens & fields all around. The property itself was totally equipped with everything one would need. Very spacious for a holiday cottage & of a very high standard.

We had a lovely holiday at Golden Valley Barn.

We were met by the owner, who was very friendly and informative and enjoyed a few days stay. All equipment and furnishings are to a high standard, and beautifully clean. We left early due to ill health. The only thing that might need changing in the near future are the very low sofas, but if you are young and agile this wouldn't be a problem. Thank you to the owners for providing us with everything we needed at the Barn.

We had a brilliant stay in Golden Valley Barn.

Great location, lovely comfortable holiday home, super hosts, wish we could have stayed longer.

VERY COMFORTABLE SPACIOUS COTTAGE IN A LOVELY AREA , LOTS OF PLACES & WALKS TO DISCOVER.

VIC & KATE ARE VERY FRIENDLY HOSTS & NOTHING IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE. THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OUR STAY. THANK YOU.

It was excellent from start to finish.

The location, facilities, and days out were first class. The hosts were helpful and kind and the garden and whole property was just peaceful. We would highly recommend staying here. Also, Flo the family Labrador was an absolute sweetheart.

The Barn was very clean, comfortable & had everything we required.

We had fantastic weather so we're able to make full use of the outdoor seating & the table tennis. The view across a meadow full of buttercups was delightful! The location is excellent.A special thankyou to the owners who were helpful when we had to sort out a car issue.

A great place to stay in lovely surroundings.

Very comfortable and welcoming and friendly hosts.Plenty to explore in the area and a good pub for food and drink nearby.

Immaculate property with friendly welcoming owner.

Flowers, homemade cakes and eggs provided. Plan to return.

We had the most wonderfull time in Golden Valley Barn.

A very warm welcome with fresh flowers, eggs and amazing selfbaked cupcakes. And Catherine even made us cupcakes a second time. We were so lucky. Catherine and Vic are great hosts, they made us feel so welcome. They respect your privacy but are always available when you have questions or when you want some travel tips. The barn itself is spotless clean and has all you need. 2 bathrooms, very good beds and a whole garden and garage for yourself. The kitchen is very well equiped, with all new pans and good oven(s). It's a delight to cook in this kitchen. The location was a perfect base for us to explore the Cotswolds, Wales, Bath, Oxford and even Exmoor NP. Over all we had a great time and like to thank Catherine and Vic for their lovely hospitallity and all good care. It was really nice to meet you! Kindest regards, Zeth, Adriaan, Marieke

The barn was very well furnished and extremely clean, with high-class furnishings.

I did feel that there should have been a clothes airer provided, as not all items can be tumble-dried. The owners were very helpful but not intrusive and the delicious cakes, fresh eggs from their hens and flowers from their garden, were a lovely touch. It is very peaceful and made for a very relaxing holiday.

Had a really good restful stay at Golden Valley Barn.

Its really quiet, spotlessly clean, lots of space outside and comfortable inside. Well equipped inside and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Lots of things to see and do in the local area and slightly further afield. Will consider booking again in 2023.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and have no complaints other than slow WIFI connection (not the owners fault).

The owners were friendly and helpful, the barn is extremely light, very clean, comfortable and warm. Overall a lovely peaceful place to stay.

A perfect holiday cottage in a beautiful location.

The property was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard. It was a pleasure to return to at the end of a day out. Lovely hosts nearby who were helpful but not intrusive and we appreciated the home made cake. A great area with lots to do and we look forward to a return visit. One of the best cottage holidays we’ve ever had!

Absolutely brilliant cottage.

Immaculately presented and spotlessly clean. Lovely touch with flowers, cakes and wine on arrival. Owners were inconspicuous but always available for assistance. Lovely and warm even though weather did turn bad. Children loved the table tennis table and wanted to move in permanently! Lots of lovely walks and convenient for Cotswold towns and Bristol. Had a fantastic vacation and will certainly visit again.

Beautiful barn in a lovely peaceful setting.

Disappointed with the Wi-Fi as very limited channels which was frustrating as most people have loads of choice at home. The barn is very warm however the rayburn is noisy which makes it difficult to eat in the kitchen. The countryside is stunning and we enjoyed cycling around. Despite a few grumbles we thoroughly enjoyed our spring break.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely, clean, well presented & well equiped property.

The owner -Catherine was very helpful & was available to answer any questions we had. Would consider staying again and will recommend to friends & family. 5 stars all round.

Our second time at Golden Valley Barn and as before it was warm, welcoming and relaxing.

Ssh, don’t tell anyone but it’s a real gem of a property with attention to detail by it’s friendly and kind owners.

The downstairs bedroom and bathroom are ideal for someone with limited mobility.

Very efficient heating during a cold wet weekend. Good supply of bath and hand towels .

after staying in excess of 25 cottages I would definitely say that this was superior .

The furniture and fittings were of a very high quality and there was lots of room and 2 superb bathrooms. The addition of a full size table tennis table was a great extra and the 10 acres of grounds were fabulous. The only very slight problem was we found the settees , although comfortable, were very low to the ground making them quite hard to get out of. However, this is only a minor point and did not detract from a fabulous holiday.

Beautiful property inside and out.

Highly recommend, very comfortable, great location for local walks.

Catherine & Vic are great hosts.

Said hello on arrival & let us know that they were available if we needed anything. The photos do not do the property justice. A spacious, clean & comfortable building which, if you wish to just sit in or outside to relax is perfect. There is a table tennis table which we used every day, which was great fun. We cannot recommend Golden Valley barn enough. We hope return next year.

Fantastic stay!

Catherine and Vic were perfect hosts. Would definitely recommend Golden Valley Barn to anyone wishing to visit the area. There is lots of space for children to play safely and the location is really peaceful. We would definitely stay there again if visiting the area.

Enjoyed our break very much.

Lovely stay at Golden Valley Barn. Accomodation was exremely clean and in beautiful surroundings. Lovely host and that helped with anything extra needed. Would recommend highley...

The accommodation was excellent.

A very high standard, very comfortable and clean place. In a beautiful area of the south West, ideal for walking and exploring the area.

This is a lovely converted barn, in a beautiful part of the country.

The house was beautiful clean and welcoming, the outside space was also beautiful, well maintained and just a pleasure to sit in and enjoy. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay at Golden Valley Barn.

Catherine and Vic were great hosts and very welcoming. Everything was immaculate with some lovely touches and we had everything we needed. The location is ideal for travel into Gloucestershire, Bristol and Wales. We cannot recommend enough - our children were very happy and had a wonderful time! Definitely one of the nicest places we've stayed.

We have no criticism at all.

Cottage owners Vic, Catherine and Harriet are lovely people and very helpful and welcoming. The cottage was spotlessly Clean and very comfortable.

Owners friendly and helpful, but not intrusive.

There was cake and flowers on arrival, which was a nice touch.

We had amazing time in this beautiful converted barn: it’s quiet and private, comfortable and spacious.

I loved the warm atmosphere and it was such a nice surprise to find out that we could even play tennis table outdoor during the evening as there’s a nice open garage. It was an unexpected treat! Catherine is such a lovely and friendly host, very accommodating and helpful. Thank you very much, I hope to come back soon.

Excellent location and pleasantly quiet Owners very friendly

Excellent property, in a beautiful location.

Reassuringly clean with just the right level of owner interaction. Would highly recommend.

Just the break we needed, the barn is gorgeous, homely, comfortable, very contempary.

We had the most relaxed stay and the hosts were lovely. The barn is situated in lovely grounds with electric gates at the entrance and was very well situated.

Wonderful cottage Finished to a very high standard, set in beautiful surroundings and made to feel extremely welcome.

Would most defiantly recommend to everyone.

A fabulous barn in a lovely, quiet location.

Our hosts were wonderful.

Absolutely stunning cottage!

Such a beautiful location. Exactly as described if not better! The grounds of the property are stunning and so is the inside. So much to see and do around the area, it’s in a great location. Owners were very helpful and welcoming and there was a lovely welcome gift on arrival which was a lovely touch. We only stayed for 3 nights but wish it was longer. We will definitely return!

Wonderful cottage We have just returned from the most amazing 2 week stay in this fabulous cottage.

It looked amazing on the website but in real life it far exceeded our expections. What a find this cottage has been and a real eye opener as to the most wonderful countryside around the Cotswold area. We would have quite happily stayed for months. We've had some lovely walks around the country lanes and visited some of the smaller villages and also had days out in Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham and got the train to Cardiff, just so much to doing this area. Vic and Catherine the owners of the cottage were so friendly and extremely welcoming. They just left us to get on with our break but were there with helpful advice or dealt with any queries we had when asked. We really cannot find fault with this cottage and will definitely be booking again in the future with so much more still to explore.

The barn was excellent.

Very clean and comfortable. Had a lovely stay and hosts were very helpful.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay, me and my family stayed for one night and loved the accommodation and the friendliness of the hosts!

! It was safe and secure for young children and in a great location to local pubs and restaurants. It was extremely clean and well maintained. Exceptional build qualityand effort has been considered when creating this build. Only negatives are that the heating didnt seem to heat any room other than the kitchen despite numerous attempts to turn up the radiator dials. The upstairs bedroom became cold through the night due to this and my little girls had to sleep in there dressing gowns. The hot water took ages to become warm in the morning leaving us no time for showers or baths and only two large towels were provided for four guests which meant the kid had to share. However this place is great and highly recommend it to anybody

A lovely cottage in a peaceful area but not too far from local amenities.

We received a warm welcome from the owner, who was a wealth of knowledge on the local area. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Had a wonderful short break at the Golden Valley Barn Vic Catherine and Skye the dog were friendly and welcoming the barn was beautifully clean peaceful and set in lovely surroundings great walks loads of places to visit would return again been home one day and are missing the place already.

10 out of 10.

Lovely 3 days at Golden Valley Barn.

Ideal setting, lovely rural walks to the river but just 5 minutes drive to the amenities of Thornbury. The barn is developed to the highest standard, the pictures don't do it justice. Well equiped kitchen and a delicious cake on our arrival. Skye the dog is a sweetheart and nicely greeted our little terrier. The owners kindly let our dog run on their field. Nice outside seating area. You couldn't ask for anything more!

Golden Valley Barn is a stunning holiday cottage.

From the moment you go through the electric gates to the property and see the lovely gardens you drive down the short lane, you know you are in for a treat! The property is situated in a very peaceful rural area, however the delightful market town of Thornbury is less then 10 minutes away and has lots of lovely restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets that you would need. We were only the second guests to stay at the property, it only opened for business a few short weeks ago, but it is going to be hugely popular as the owners have worked hard to make this barn a real home from home. You can see from the photographs that is is beautifully decorated, and it has a lovely terrace which you don't see in the pictures. A barn style carport is a work in progress, however the property offers lots of parking. We were chuffed to have found this little gem..and as we now have family in the area (we stayed for our niece's wedding in Oldbury) we really hope to visit again in the future.
