Flagstone Cottage

A very comfortable place to stay, in beautifully rural surroundings, with a most welcoming host.

It couldn't be nicer. There are walks from the door, but probably not a week's worth, so most people would need to use a car to get to Stow to use a bus, or to the start of a walk further afield. For example, one day we drove to Stow, walked to Bourton, got a bus back and then drove back to Flagstone. The car park next to Tesco is very handy

Everything at Flagstone Cottage was excellent.

Warm, cosy, peaceful, well equipped + outstanding cleanliness. Johnny was very friendly and gave us a very warm welcome and made sure we were happy. The Patio was great for stargazing on a clear dark night with all lights turned off. We really enjoyed our time there.

On arrival at Flagstone cottage, before unpacking checked the bed and found numerous black hairs on bottom sheet and under pillows also underside of duvet cover.

There were no sheets available to change the bed, so we had to make decision to return home same day, as who wants to sleep in a bed with black hairs in it. It is not acceptable, expected better. Also tap in kitchen constantly dripping. We were not informed about building work on stable block either. Very disappointed and upset after two previous visits.

Ideal accommodation for peace & quiet, & for the local attractions.

Flagstone cottage is comfortably spacious and well equipped.

It is situated in a lovely peaceful countryside location yet is only a couple of miles from the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold and within easy driving distance of lots of Cotswold places of interest.

An excellent place to stay in a wonderful, quiet location, yet within easy reach of many wonderful attractions.

A comfortable, well appointed and equipped property, superbly maintained. The owner is a retired gentleman, a very helpful person who lives nearby. It was a privilege to stay in such a delightful cottage. Thank you.

A very special property in a lovely and peaceful location.

We had a wonderful view of the lambs playing in the fields this Easter time. The cottage is within easy driving distance of many picturesque villages, National Trust properties and Blenheim Palace. Our thanks to Charles for a very comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable stay.

This was our third stay at Flagstone and this time it was lovely to stay in the festive season and for new year.

We love it here and especially spending time with Charles and the lovely horses. It’s a home from home and a place to relax as soon as you arrive. The surroundings are typical and beautiful Cotswolds in the middle of nowhere but with everywhere so accessible within 10-30 minutes drive. We will be back this year and already can’t wait. Thanks again Charles for your wonderful home and hospitality. xx

Home from home in the beautiful surrounding Cotswold countryside. Charles is the loveliest of hosts. He makes you feel welcome and is there should you need anything at all. This is the perfect location being only 20 mins max from most of the places you would want to see in the area, but also being in its own little hideaway. Perfect again and we will be back. This is a modern cottage built onto one end of a barn.

It faces open paddocks which often has racehorses holidaying. Free range of the grounds feels like having your own private estate. The cottage is one of the best for layout and position for viditing Cotswolds. The resident owner,Charles,is welcoming and available if needed,also interesting to talk with if one desires. Really good stay and recommend it.

This was our first holiday at Flagstaff Cottage and we are sure it wont be our last.

Everything was spotlessly clean, well furnished, light and airy, and above all is in a wonderful location. The peace & tranquility was just what we needed, but also within easy reach of so many wonderful places to visit. Flagstone Cottage is an absolute gem and host Charles is a welcoming and charming host.

The blend of the highest quality of interior finish ( especially the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in ), the secluded and picturesque location ,surrounded by the spectacular cotswolds landscape and the peace and quiet made this an unforgettable stay.....we will be back again to enjoy it and take advantage of its accessibility to Stow and the wider cotswolds. No question this is pure high end luxury all round!

One of the nicest properties we have stayed at.

A lovely peaceful setting in the countryside but only a short drive to so many lovely places in the Cotswolds. The property itself is immaculate and the owner who lives nearby very kind and helpful when we spoke to him. Highly recommend

Perhaps an insect killer for flies would be useful in the kitchen area.

A real gem!

Fabulous cottage for two, spacious and well equipped/furnished. Perfectly located for exploring all the main sites in the area. The terrace at the back of the cottage looks out over the paddocks, is very private and perfect for relaxing. This is one of the best 2 person cottages I have ever stayed at.

Charming cottage for 2 in beautiful countryside a couple of miles outside of Stow.

Host Charles greeted us upon arrival, very nice gentleman, & Saphie, who is lovely & helpful, put up with my silly questions & looked after us during our stay. Cottage is set out very well, is properly equipped & looks out over sheep & horse paddocks. Only thing we would add would be a full length mirror maybe inside the wardrobe door. We enjoyed going to see Nina, the horse currently in the paddock outside, she was very friendly, especially when you took her an apple or 2. It is nice just wandering around the fields outside the cottage or there are plenty of walks in the area, my favourite being to Donnington Brewery about 2 miles away

Ideally located for the north Cotswolds, a nicely appointed, very comfortable cottage, and Charles is an excellent host.

Extremely comfortable, well appointed property and ideally located.

The host Charles was very accommodating and very personable. To enhance the property to excellent status I would like to recommend the following; 1. The purchase of a washing up bowl as this would save a lot of water. 2. The purchase of a pair of tongs, especially when grilling bacon! 3. The purchase of a pastry brush! The only concern I had was the booking in time at 1800hrs which is far from ideal especially when travelling a long distance and requiring time to prepare dinner. All the properties my wife and I have booked over many years previously have had a booking in time of 1600hrs.

We absolutely loved our stay at Flagstone Cottage.

The cottage is in a quiet location and it's well-equipped, clean and fresh. It was lovely to sit outside on a sunny day and take in the beautiful scenery. It's within half an hour of everywhere you might want to go - Bourton-on-the-Water is only 10 minutes away and even Blenheim Palace is only a half an hour journey. If you want a relaxing week away in peaceful tranquillity with all the facilities you might need, you have to visit!

The property and the location are perfect.

What a rare and lovely find. The owner Charles is lovely and so accommodating as well as non intrusive. What a wonderful place and we would love to return. The horses were a bonus too!

Beautifully furnished cottage, ideally situated to visit so many places in the Cotswolds.

Everything was provided for a comfortable stay & Charles the owner even provided us with an extension lead to enable me to dry my hair in the bathroom mirror. Maybe a mirror in the bedroom would be a good idea for the future, we really enjoyed our stay.

Flagstone Cottage is a little gem - hidden away in the depths of peaceful countryside and yet not too far from the amenities of Stow-on-the-Wold and many other places to visit.

This was a little gem of a cottage.

Although quite unassuming from the rear, when through the back door we were delighted to find a beautifully decorated and equipped hideaway. Quiet and rural with glorious views over sheep and paddocks. We had a lovely holiday and definitely intend to return.

Warm welcome from the owners who live on site. Relaxing countryside views from the rear of the property. Easy access to typical Cotswold villages ( Stow on the Wold, Moreton in Marsh, Bourton on the Water to name a few). For those with National Trust membership there are several places nearby - Snowshill, Hidcote Manor, Chastleton House and a few others, all well worth a visit.
