What guests are saying
Gordon's View is in an enviable position, with beautiful views across the Severn.
The property is quite rustic, but well kept and clean, and we appreciated the provisions left for us. We also enjoyed the amount of information about the cottage and its surroundings. Peace and quiet abounds, and its proximity to Littledean allows for easy access to a couple of very good restaurants. On a less positive front: the bed was so hard and uncomfortable we eventually gave up and came home a day early just so we could get a good night's sleep. We knew the stairs would be very steep, but the top of the stairs cuts into the landing so you have to step down/up to leave the bedroom and study area; fine if we had known in advance, but as someone with a visual impairment this was tricky to deal with: I believe there should at least be a mention of this, if not a photograph on the site to alert prospective tenants (although I appreciate most people would not be phased by it, because of my impairment I would not have booked the cottage if I had known of this in advance).
I had a lovely stay at Gordon's View, and what a view!
I stayed in March and it was the most wonderful time to stay. I didn't have to move from the bed to watch the stunning sunrises over the River Severn! Although I had a mixed bag of weather, it was ideal to intersperse my time with beautiful walks in the Forest of Dean, along with some writing – again with the stunning view of the valley and river. Great communication at all times and ideal, well-equipped accommodation for cosy evenings with the woodburner and a separate relaxing upstairs lounge too. The steps and stairs are steep, as is the back garden, so you do need to be fairly agile – so don't look at the view at the same time as walking down the steps! I hope to return to continue the writing and soak up the views again. Thank you.
Good place to stay.
